I was in the mood for chilaquiles last weekend for brunch and came across Redwood on Unilocal as an option. With the good reviews, we decided to give it a try. *Drool,* we will definitely be going back! With it’s warm, inviting décor and friendly staff, Redwood was a lovely way for us to begin our Saturday before our subsequent hike. The menu has an array of delicious looking options, but I stuck with my original craving and got the chilaquiles, which hit the spot. We also ordered a side of potato pancakes and I ordered a rosemary mimosa, which was crisp and refreshing and not too sweet. My husband and our friend were very happy with their choices, as well. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because we had to wait for our food for quite a while. However, they were very busy, inside and out, so I understand. At least the décor makes for a lovely stay and they were playing great music, to boot.

Tonight we had a wonderful dinner sitting at the bar of Redwood. Jamie the bartender was so pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. I feel customer service in Portland tends to lack these aspects. Our experience tonight was refreshing to realize yes, it does exist! The food my partner and I split was cooked to perfection(Burger«cooked medium», Wedge salad and even desert)! We will return!

Great atmosphere– casual but nice, yummy food, friendly service, creative cocktails, clean, reliable service and quality. I have only been there for dinner but am anxious to try their brunch. Perfect neighborhood spot.

I’ve been to Redwood three times now, and each time I’m impressed with the service, food, and drinks. Last night I went with my roommate after our movie for a glass of wine and dessert. We got the panacotta something dessert(I may have the name wrong, but it was a custard-like dessert, with a raspberry sauce over top of it), and it was delicious! I’ve tried the crisp as well… yumm! What was so great about this last experience that made me decide I need to write a review, was the excellent service that we got from our waitress, Whitney. We sat outside so we could enjoy the weather, and Whitney came out to check on us often. We weren’t forgotten about, despite being the only table that was occupied outside, and they were very busy inside. She was not pushy, or overbearing, she was truly just politely checking on us to make sure we didn’t need anything more. She was so pleasant, friendly, prompt, that we remarked on it a couple of times while we sat outside enjoying the sun, and our drinks. I’m also indecisive, and she was able to make some great recommendations. The service I’ve received in the past has always been great as well. They are definitely doing something right at this restaurant, and it shows by the quality of the servers they have on staff.

Super friendly staff and fantastic food with lots of flavor. Not a large line like country cat next door which is odd as the food is as good. Totally worth a stop.

My sister & I were visiting Portland and happened to wander into the Redwood Restaurant. A great find. We both ordered the curried chicken served on a potato pancake with a side of a spicy papaya salad. Everything was tasty and perfectly seasoned. Our server, Whitney, was so sweet and attentive. This place obviously has a gourmet chef in the kitchen and we were very impressed. We would definitely go back to this place next time we come to Portland. They truly deserve all 5 stars!

One of the best meals I’ve had in a long, long time! I love food and never have a problem finding something on a menu that looks appealing to me, but some places have inherently more than others. Redwood is one of those places. I couldn’t decide what I wanted because everything sounded so mouthwatering! We ended up splitting the majority of their appetizers and are planning to come back for their entrees and brunch. I had The Pines cocktail, a habanero pineapple basil drink and loved it. The standouts for us were the cheese and corn fritters with a delicious spicy, tangy dipping sauce, the Brussels sprouts(because hello, why wouldn’t you order those), the chilled roasted corn soup(!!!), and the stuffed poblano pepper. After the meal I texted several friends telling them they need to go ASAP and invite me along, please!

Food is great and the servers were nice but it took forever to get drinks and had to ask for silver wear twice even after I got my food. I was a little annoyed that I got to look at my plate for 5 minutes without a fork and it wasn’t busy at all. Maybe it was just an off day but it affected the way I felt about this place for sure. ;(

ABSOLUTELYBRILLIANT! After walking out of Oliver’s café due to rudeness, we arrived to the best experience ever here at Redwood! The friendliest staff ever! As huge fans of the dish«Chilaquiles», we’ve had a lot of them. This one«Mic Drop!» Wow! Fantastic flavor everywhere. I also had an amazing drink of fresh grapefruit with peppered tequila and a salted rim glass. I really needed that after my experience prior to coming in. The place is clean, the people are ALL friendly and attentive. The food is so good and I’m waiting to return. Yay! Kudos to Redwood for knowing how to treat their customers in a warm and welcoming manner. Thank you for such a great time. We will bring friends!

Another great place to eat in Portland. This cozy restaurant/bar is on Stark Street — where there are several great options to choose from. Choosing this place was not by chance, I did my Unilocal research and couldn’t resist the mouth watering pictures of the food. We started with the side salad. Yes, it’s just a side salad… but it was really yummy. I appreciated the fresh locally grown organic greens(I would not expect any less from Portland). The dining companion ordered the curry roasted chicken. This was a very generous portion of chicken on top of a potato pancake. The accompaning slaw and chutney complemented the curry flavor well. The chicken was prepared perfectly as it was moist and tender. I ordered the chilaqilles which had a fried egg on top. The flavors were good but it wasn’t as spicy as I had hoped. This is a great place for a romantic meal. Parking is a prime, so be prepared to walk a slight distance.

Really enjoyed my first time here. We had a variety of things with work colleagues and everything was very good. Cool atmosphere and knowledgeable staff. Lots of competition on this side of Stark so they will need to step up slightly to stay relevant, but I like what they’re doing.

Great little spot next to a growing seen of excelling restaurants. Montavilla has a high demand for good food and atmosphere in it’s Stark/Washington street area. There are many alternatives with the surrounding eateries getting loads of recognition, how does it stack up? The food is not overly ambitious but well executed. The drinks were spot on and with in the expected skills of bartenders in the area. I also liked the décor, although the menu and seating arrangements don’t really embrace each other like they could. Loads of potential to bring things together over time. I think where this place really shines is the staff who work here. Everyone is friendly, happy and wants to be at work, you can tell by the energy of the place that this is more than a job for some of them. I think the Redwood is here to stay and complements the Observatory and CC well, I found this place due to avoiding the crowds, I think the crowds should give this place a try…

Excellent breakfast, friendly service, and no line on a Sunday morning! I think I found my new favorite spot. And the hash browns are amazing.

2+2=2 That’s how many Cocktails I drank, but I did taste 4. Happy hour with my work peeps and WE always say the same thing, every time we happy hour. Ok, NO work talk. that usually lasts for about 10 – 15 mins. We do love our jobs and yes appreciate what we do, but it can be very stressful. So, when we do HH, WEDOHH. Harvest Moon~A The Pines~B Hi Ho Cherry ~B The French Twist~C Harvest Moon was my favorite cocktail. I thought it would be overly cinnamon tasting, but it wasn’t. It’s really good. Food; I had the fried Brussels sprouts, very salty and would pair well with a beer and a humus dip. I also had the Chilaquiles, This was very good and worth the visit alone. The best way to describe the taste is that it’s like enchiladas with an egg on top. Not to over simplify it, just keeping it real. Service was attentive, helpful and friendly. All and All, I thought some of the appetizers were on the salty side, with all the wonderful spices they put on these appetizers, it really didn’t need to be salted as much, but the cocktails and the Chilaquiles are worth a return visit.

Came on a whim. There was no wait early Saturday morning! The food was quite good. I would highly recommend the chilaquiles. It was a soft squishy mess of great flavors with the crispy tortilla chips thrown in. Will try huevos rancheros next time to compare. The blueberry fritters were good but thinking maybe should have tried the corn fritters… The eggs and hashbrowns were nothing extraordinary or special, but they were good. The potato pancakes were also good. The first lady we encountered was a bit curt but the service was good overall. Definitely would try it again, especially is Country Cat has a long line like it normally does for weekend brunch. I thought this place was just as good.

The service was very bad and unprofessional. Server got mad at us when we said we didn’t want an appetizer she forgot to put in anymore(by that time it was coming out with the entrée). Refused to split check for us, made our group do it for her; mark items on receipt, add up total, ect. What took us a half hour to do would have taken her 5 minutes, she was simply«just too busy for us.» Her words. Don’t go her if your group is 4 or more. They are not trained to handle a group of 8+. The food was amazing, I’ll give t that, but not good enough to make us come back after this experience. You lost a potential 10 return customers.

Excellent food, a clean place, and somewhere not crazy-crowded was just what I was looking for on a cold wintry evening during my rare visits to the NE side. Redwood, with its fresh hardwood décor, fit the bill with its stunning food entrees of American cuisine. The corn fritters were amazing with great flavor and texture, coming out pipping hot. And the uniquely plated chicken pot pie is something I would come back for in a heartbeat. The others in my group enjoyed delicious cocktails, the chilaquiles(big thumbs up) and a generously portioned veggie burger with house salad. Food: 5 Ambiance: 5 Service: 5 Value: 4 TL;DR: Love me some chicken pot pie!

Love this place was open with HH menu until midnight, post the Academy Theater getting out late. The décor is dark wood, with white dripping candles. Cocktails were spot on and both ironically«red» — friend had a hibiscus margarita and I had a nice bourdeaux cherry drink and neither were overly sweet. Fries were excellent and $ 3. The brussel sprouts pan friend could have been better. One, they were too large, we like the small nutty ones, and two the cumin flavor didn’t do them justice. We happened to be the only ones in there late night. Oh and I just spied their chef on CHOP on the foodnetwork the following day. Hot damn!

This is our favorite restaurant in Portland. Seriously, soo good. We love to sit at their big red wood bar. They have great cocktails, and a few good beers on tap. On their appetizer menu, they have wings made with fish sauce. You’ve heard of these at Pok Pok? Well, try them here — they are better. Guaranteed. I usually just order this for myself for dinner. My partner loves the chilaquiles. They are very good. Seriously, come on in to check this place out. It’s a great place for an intimate dinner out, and the food will not disappoint.

Redwood, oh redwood. What delicious chilaquiles you have! The boyfriend and I stopped by for brunch on a Saturday around 10am. We were the second ones there but the place soon filled up with families couples and friends. We started off with pink mimosas and coffee then blueberry fritters and I got the chilaquiles. I can’t remember what the bf got. In any case, the fritters were just okay… Too doughy for my taste palette and both of us wished we had ordered the oatmeal waffle instead… However, the chilaquiles was AHMAZING. Even though we ate there over a month ago. The deliciousness is still vivid in my mind! Highly recommend this place!

We had the chilaquiles and oatmeal waffle. The chilaquiles were pretty good, but not as flavorful as I would’ve liked them. They were like eating nachos but with a fork, so a bit awkward and crunchy. I wish there was another layer in them to make them a bit easier to eat and to add another dimension to the flavor. The waffle was a bit disappointing. After eating at «off the waffle» and«waffle window», Redwoods waffle seems to have a theme-park-elephant ear/churro flavor. The texture wasn’t like the good waffles that I’ve eaten. The inside wasn’t broiche-y and the outside didn’t have the correct crust that a good waffle has. The interior is nice. It’s a newish place, so a lot of things could be changing
