Great for roving, wool felt, and less expensive yarns. A very good place for Waldorf style educational supplies and for some types of classes. I can see this being a good fit for people wanting these specific goods/services. If you are looking for a traditional knitting supply store, you will want to go elsewhere. The approach of the store is narrow selection, with a good variety of color of those chosen products. There are a few nice options like beeswax, was modeling clay and some very basic embroidery supplies. Overall, a nice intro store for the basic crafter or those needing specific items.

This is one of the most comprehensive fiber shops in town with a very friendly warm owner who is never too busy to help, chat, and assist. I especially enjoy the Waldorf school, art, and supplies section, and the books. Tuesday night craft night has been a stable event for many crafter’s who have formed a family of friends and again, Rose, the owner has generously hosted this evening for years. As to the review by Puja, I see from your photo you are the same angry hothead who parked your car so close behind mine that the bumper was actually touching and when I figured out it was you, you were bitchy and rude about coming out to back it up so I could depart. There were witnesses to your poor behavior in the store that day, no surprise you are not welcome at classes. What do you expect? I am sure however that Rose, Because she is so nice, would always be friendly, kind, and welcoming to you if you go in to get her delicious wool felt. She really is that kind of nice person. Gossamer fiber is great, so are the classes and the vast majority of the customers.

Alright, so while I still think to head over to Gossamer for felt and fiber, it isn’t a place I jump to visit anymore. Rose, the store owner is spacey, and somewhat passive aggressive which makes walking into the shop uncomfortable. Imagine some lady asking you for your address over facebook chat without mentioning why(since she doesn’t have it in her address book/computer), so she can mail you a check for $ 100+ that she likely has owed you for 6 months. Sounds, like something a crazy aunt might do right??? apparently, that’s what the owner does too. Backstory: I signed up to take a class at Gossamer, put the dates in my calendar once I decided to take the class and prepaid for the class. The weekend the class occurs, the owner gets on facebook chat to tell me that the class is happening(a week earlier than I put down in my calendar). Apparently the date of the class had changed multiple times because the class instructor needed to check the star alignment/ask her astrologer about when to ‘put on’ the class that the date changed and I was not informed. Sure, as a student, it is my responsibility to show up when the class is advertised. But the changing of the class date multiple times, the owners lack of professionalism for status updates(chatting over facebook chat as opposed to phone calls or emails), poor documentation(no confirmation email, and poor website updates), make it difficult to figure out when things are happening and keep up with changes After all of this confusion, I asked for a refund, but was informed that I would not get one, and instead could take the next class offered which was fine by me. months later the class was offered, and the instructor cancelled on us the night before(again, I was informed of this via facebook chat by the owner merely the night before the class… talk about a let down since I had cleared out my weekend). Finally, the class was offered again, I clear out a weekend to take it, and the owner gets on facebook chat to ask for my mailing address. ‘Weird, i thought… why would she need it/doesn’t she have it already since I’ve been a customer?’. Long story short, I get a passive aggressive email a week later refunding my money for the class and saying I’m no longer welcome to take it. I’m a busy lady, and don’t have such time for passive aggressive trivialities. Forget about her holding my $ 120 for 6 months and paying it back in an obscure manner. If I’m ever in a bind and need wool felt, I’ll come here, but to not have to deal with the owner, etsy might be my saving grace. For yarn and other fiber arts supplies, Twisted, located only 1 mile or so away is where it is at!

I came here with purposeful intent and after reading the helpful reviews here on Unilocal.I’d researched online for a particular shade of Brown Sheep lamb’s pride yarn, and had decided I really wanted to support a local store. Rose, the owner, was there and was kind and gracious. The layout was easy to navigate, well-lit, and she has a truly unique collection of wool yarns, wool felt, and Waldorf supplies. I don’t know much about Waldorf, but from the store, Rose’s passion for these products and their ethos absolutely shines through.

This is one of my favorites little shops. The owner, Rose, is a lovely lady that is passionate about what she does and very knowledgable. She makes me feel so comfortable and is full of good ideas. Her space is cute and set up nicely for browsing or even hanging out to work on a project. She offers classes and has groups working on projects in there often that seem to bond and have a lot of fun. Her taste is impeccable and she stands by her products she carries. I love that she puts effort into making sure she offers a great variety at a fair price. There are also other artists work in there and other sweet items and treasures you probably can’t live without. Gossamer is located right on E. Burnside with easy street parking or off street parking in the lot next to Matador. It’s also right off the Tri Met 20 bus line and also has spots close by to lock up your bike.

I love Gossamer. The products are high quality(once you buy felt here you won’t be able to go anywhere else!) and the owner is very helpful. I highly recommend checking it out!

I loved this place. What a wonderful store for fiber arts. The owner was helpful and we found exactly the felting supplies we were looking for. The prices were very reasonable bordering on lower than expected. I can’t wait to take one of their classes — I really do need to learn how to crochet!

Very cute new store that is owned by the woman who used to run the Waldorf School store. So there is lots of yarn, felt, roving, and Waldorf supplies. It is a great place to find some of those more natural art supplies that you can’t find anywhere else in Portland. If you combine this store with a quick stop to Knittin’ Kitten you can make anything! Bonus: they also offer classes for small groups(or go alone and meet new friends).
