Full Sail Brewing At Riverplace

Come here during happy hour, they have amazing deals on drinks and food! We had the mojitos and full sail red ale, and we are the crab dip, hummus, bruschetta and seafood stuffed mushrooms. Everything was perfect! Our waiters were quick and friendly.

The salmon fish and chips was excellent! They use wild salmon, and it tasted very fresh. I also had the fries, which tasted fresh. On top of this, I had the sampler for their local brews, which I enjoyed. If you can, ask to seat by the window so that you have a nice view of the Gorge.
Only reason I took away a star is that the service could have been better. I was neglected while the table of 2 next to me had lots more attention.

Ugh — worst service and drinks. Super sad because the location, view and dog friendliness is amazing. Our waitress was slow, apathetic and forgetful; that’s putting it mildly.
The prices here are ridiculous and don’t reflect the food or experience one should have. Would definitely not recommend for any occasion of event. There’s plenty here on the riverfront and plenty of other options.

Shrimp and Andouille «Mac-​n-​Cheese» is a fave. I also like the Fried Shrimp. They always have salmon, trout, halibut, and cod to go with your choice of wine. I don’t drink a lot of beer, so I might be missing out.
I’ve always enjoyed their cheese burgers. Not the best around, but they do hit the spot.
Still, this waterfront location is a great place to catch a meal. We eat here a lot since it’s close and always a known quantity.

The beer is good, assortment is very good. They happy hour (3p-​6p) menu is typical McCormick & Schmidt happy hour selection and reasonably price $ 2.99 — $ 5.99. I enjoyed the stount and brown ale ($ 4/​pint) as well as the sliders, mussels, & sweet potatoe fries. Only thing missing was the brewery atmosphere, yet swanky digs will do. Will definitely return.

To get it out of the way, as every review states: No, it is not a brewpub. It is basically the bar at McCormick & Schmicks. Just so happens that a Full Sail Brewery (where they brew some batches of FS is right next door & somewhat attached) This means they have 8 styles of Full Sail on tap, including seasonals, along with Boneyard, Ninkasi etc., But the wait staff, the food and everything is actually the McCormick & Schmicks restaurant bar, Filled with middle aged Portland types. Upscale atmosphere somewhat, with cool lit up tables nicely designed and a large bar area. We went there because the sun was out and it is right on the water. We got a seat at the window. The place was packed. There are a few TV’s for sports but the path outside of the big tall windows provides great people/​jogger/​biker/​dog walker watching, and the view of the marina is beautiful, boats, bridges, etc., The Happy hour menu was great: $ 2.99/$ 3.99/$ 4.99 and $ 5.99 selections as well as $ 4 Full Sail drafts from 3 pm to 6. I think about 15 taps total. I found the FS nut brown delicious, but my husband stuck with Laurelwood and Boneyard. We had bruschetta, spinach dip, firecracker shrimp, sweet potato fries and fish tacos off the Happy Hour Menu & All were good quality, the foccacia bread we got to finish up the leftover dip was a stand out. All told, 4 beers each and all that food for about $ 60. The service was fine. Not great, but not bad, we never really wanted for anything, the server was a bit scattered but kept it together and was friendly. Such a great deal and nice atmosphere on a nice day was hard to beat, and it seemed everyone else was doing the same. At 6 pm the place cleared out, down to about 10 people once happy hour ended. We stayed for one more, watching the sun go down and the bridges and city light up, enjoying the view. Romantic spot.

We ended up eating at McCormick & Schmick’s since we were there, but we were kind of disappointed when we got there to learn that this was not the brewery that we had set out on to taste.

Thought I was going to Full Sail Brewing, and ended up in McCormick & Schmicks’s Steak House. They do have the full compliment of Full Sail brews, but without the atmosphere of a brewery.
Felt like I was at a steakhouse bar, which is exactly what it was. I was hoping to have a good beer and chat with knowledge folks about the brewing process and all of the interesting stuff that comes with having a beer at the brewery.
Chose to stick around and have lunch anyhow, which was not bad. The price is a little steep if you are expecting pub prices, but the food doesn’t disappoint.
I had a wedge salad and the coconut shrimp. The wedge came with the perfect amount of blue cheese dressing and had nice crisp bacon on it. The coconut shrimp were pretty standard, though the chutney served as a garnish really wrapped it together.
Paired my lunch with a black lager that was pretty tasty. All in all not a bad experience, just not what I was expecting when I set out for lunch at a brewery.

Located inside McCormick & Schmicks’s steakhouse at Riverplace, this Full Sail taproom is like the Portland branch of their Hood River brewery.
Great selection of Full Sail beers plus several guest taps, and some pretty tasty happy hour eats. That’s about all I can comment on, because I wasn’t really interested in spending a ton of money on the McCormick’s menu. I had the Full Sail beer sampler (not discounted for happy hour), which is a great way to try most of their brews and catch a buzz at the same time :)
There actually is a brewery here, but it’s a small batch and ‘experimental’ operation– most of the beers actually served here are from the main brewery in Hood River.
Great staff, pleasant bar, beautiful setting on the Willamette River… worth checking out if you happen to be nearby.

The «taproom» is actually the bar for «McCormick & Schmick’s». The bar CARRIES «Full Sail» beers. You can see the «Full Sail Brewing» sign (Not from waterfront side of the restaurant) right next to the «McCormick & Schmick’s“‘s entrance with a «Taproom» sign. It’s confusing. You can see the beer tanks from both inside and outside.
The bar is typical. They have not only «Full Sail» beers on tap, but also several interesting ones. Nice service. Foods are, of course, by «McCormick & Schmick’s». Décor is sort of classy side, but nothing special about it. The restaurant has more upper scale atmosphere but I think it’s pretty casual to me. Friendly staff. Street parking with meter.
Happy Hour: Daily 3pm — 6pm. Su-​Thu: 9pm to close, F&Sa: 10pm to close.
Well drinks $ 4, cocktails $ 6~7, wine $ 5, all the «Full Sail» draft beers ($ 4 pint), and some appetizers.

I give this place five stars, but not for the food, or the beer, service, or location, but what it does have is everything. Location is in a great area along the river walk with great views. Staff was very friendly and knowledgable. Great beer selection of local micros. Recommend any of the draughts on nitro tap! Food was average but the happy hour prices (3 – 6) were outstanding for the quality. (note you must order a drink to get happy hour prices. But with this selection it shouldnt be a problem.

Walking along the street, looking towards the entrance will confuse you from the start; the pilsner room/​mccormick & schmick’s serving full sail brewing is what it should say, brace yourselves for a seafood and steak house with pricing accordingly. Admittedly famished upon arrival, we ordered a cup of the clam chowder soup and crab cakes from our bartender, who, while friendly enough was obviously swamped with a service bar entirely within earshot. After 15 minutes, and two meals arriving prior to ours, the portion size is underwhelming considering Portland’s generous serving size and accompanying pricing. That being said, the crab cake was fresh and inventive, the soup authentic. As far as the beer is concerned, the cask conditioned amber was great. We visit the actual full sail brewery tomorrow, hopefully littered with less river front tourism.

I enjoyed going to the waterfront to come here, but I left a bit disappointed. I came here after a dinner with some friends. I got here around 10pmish knowing that they’d close at 11. I was hoping to get in 2 or 3 beers, but I only ended up getting 1.
When I got there, there were about 3 or 4 people at the bar including me. I was basically ignored by the bartender for about 10 minutes while taking orders from other people even though he saw me sitting there. He then says that it’s last call and it was 10:15! I was pretty surprised that last call would be 45 minutes til close. I didn’t get my beer fully for another 5 minutes after I ordered as the bartender just left it sitting there on the engine.
The beer was solid, but I was pretty put off with being ignored for 15 minutes as I got in and finding out that last call was that early. Well, at least it made for an earlier night.

I love this restaurant. I went with my husband and family, and although there was a bit of a wait (due to a race that that just ended near by) to be seated, it was a great restaurant nonetheless. The food was spectacular, and the customer service was as equally great. The beer tasting was an interesting experience. Although I’m not much of a beer fan, I was able to find a couple that I wasn’t completely opposed to.
My only complaint is probably the wait as it was extremely cold where we were waiting, and it physically hurt (me) to wait that long in the cold before being seated.

I went around Portland doing the beer scene, and since I’ve had Full Sail before, I thought I’d see what else they have. As it’s been pointed out, you have to get the beer at the McCormick and Schmicks. I got the sampler, which had a porter and stout as the special. To be honest, the beer fell short of expectations, even the stuff I’ve had before. Pretty much all the other breweries I went to had a better selection and better quality. I felt like their stuff was rather low-​bodied and didn’t have much character.
I will say that the view and atmosphere was great. Had a table overlooking the waterfront, which was cool. But if you’re here for the beer, I say spend your time elsewhere.

Service was great, food came fast, and they have 2 beer engines if you happen to be a fan of real ales.
We happened to be there in time for a special FS release, but pretty much anything there is good.
I didn’t notice if they had a happy hour, price was a little high for my budget, thus the 4 stars, but if money isn’t an issue for you, this place could be a 5.
Don’t forget to get them to validate, saves ya half of your parking!

doesn’t tell you anything but the address. Didn’t realize it was inside McCormic & Schmick’s Seafood restaurant. I just wasn’t prepared for river dinning.
The beers were good. We ordered the sampler, which had to have been 4−5oz per beer. They included the Amber, Pale, IPA, Seasonal Wassail, Wreck the Halls, Imperial Stout and «Old Boarhead» Barley wine. It was the best barley wine on the trip. Wreck the Halls was also really good. The rest were easy sipping.
Next time I will just drive to Hood River. I don’t feel like I got any of the history or feel from just being taps in a restaurant.

The service was less then ok. Nothing like a screaming hostess and a server with zero personality. The Hopenfresh and fish & chips were the twilight of the evening. Will we be.
back? The jury is still out. Commercialism is the death of good service!

Session Black. My new goto brew when price is an issue. A case costs about $ 10. Yeah, it’s not as cost effective as PBR or Hamms, but it tastes a helluva lot better. Good stuff.

Their Wassail Ale is among my favorite of holiday beers. The pale and amber ales are nice as well, and they’re usually consistent in flavor & quality. IPA is alright. Their newest success is the Session Lager, and it’s always a hit with my visitors who lean towards pale lagers… so it’s easy to win them over to craft beer with this one.

You know what? I had to change my review and give this place some props. It’s not the full deal, but they do well with what they’ve got. The original review still stands, though:
Skip the sideshow, and go straight to Full Sail’s home brewery in Hood River. It’s only an hour away, and you can have great fish and chips, views of the Columbia, AND killer brews, all in one spot.
