The staff here is AMAZING! They treat us with respect every single time, and when we requested something off of the happy hour menu outside of happy hour time, they were more than accommodating. The crew here makes it all worth coming back! The manager Josh and the bartenders Sam and Josh are hands down the best people to come in and see on a weekly basis, thank you Elephants!

I was here at the Corbett’s location for its grand opening(and because I worked nearby, ate here almost everyday). I came back last week, hoping it still had that wonderful mysticism it had back when I begged the kale gods to send something relatively good/healthy to John’s Landing. «PLEASE;» I cried. «NOMORESHI*TTYFOOD.» They answered my prayers, and still today Elephant’s(on Corbett) rocks. It’s a lot smaller than the NW location(right off Burnside), so it reminds me more of an Elephant’s in an office building or the one in Fox Tower. But the selection is still good. To be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of all the sandwiches, but that’s not saying they’re bad – they’re just not my particular taste. I still love a good PB& J though. The cold bar(and hot case) can be good, but can get a little spendy if your eyes are bigger than your stomach. Everything looks great, so you might end up buying a lot! My suggestion is to know what you want when you walk in. Sandwich? Soup? Lasagna? Make a beeline and grab what you need. Otherwise you can spend all day standing around and pontificating on what you’re in the mood for – again, the location is pretty small so at busy hours you’re taking up vital real estate! Once you’ve worked your way to the counter you’ll always find a super friendly and gracious employee to scan you out. Ok. So Elephant’s game plan. Visualize your meal. Get in. Get out. Get good.

I love this place! Love their selection of food. Their almond milk lattes are the BEST I’ve ever had. The food is so fast and delicious. My BF is super picky and he loves this place!

Elephants on Corbett is a gorgeous location and stands out from the rest of the chain. The Corbett room is a beautiful spot to hold events and the staff at this location are sweet and chatty. I love coming here for my daily lunch. One problem: I’m a receptionist at a local medical office which means my paycheck hates my addiction to this place. The food is so good. SOGOOD. Ugh, why are the prices so steep?! Honestly, the prices are steep for good reason: They source their foods locally and have high standards of ingredients. Their food is designed by chefs who care and their products are top notch. There are ways around the price, though. Tips from this broke as F mom: 1– A cup of soup for $ 3.95 or a bowl of soup for $ 4.95 with a big slice of baguette for $ 0.95 and the free baguette it comes with is pretty much all you need to fill your belly and get a little comfort food to boot. My favorite is the Wild Mushroom Soup followed closely by the Orange Tomato soup. Just rip apart the baguette and throw it in the soup as croutons and you will be so happy in the belly. 2– Kids grilled cheese sandwich is $ 3.75 and dipped in a $ 3.95 cup of tomato soup, it is divine. 3– If you really want that stroganoff or something else from the hot case, if you have them give you a half pound of it, you will have MORE than enough food to fill you up and it will only set you back about $ 5. 4– Finish off your meal with the frosted shortbread cookies. Yes, the other desserts look amazing, but those cheap frosted cookies are so flippin’ good and they are so cute! You won’t regret it. I’m taking one star off only because one time I didn’t get the best service from the pizza counter. The guy that tends to be there when I go is always pretty disinterested in helping me. Everyone else has been great, though.

I want to love Elephants, I really do. Their orange tomato soup is the BOMB. They make good sandwiches for the most part. They have grab and go options which are usually pretty fresh and satisfy the basic urge to fill one’s stomach. Unfortunately I have been and received horrible service too many times to find this place appealing. If at 1pm on a Saturday, you cannot make three sandwiches in less than 35 minutes and deliver them to a table, you’ve got a problem. If your guest comes looking for their sandwiches, not once, twice, but three times, and instead of apologizing, your staff argues with a guest about the ability to accept food if you are not at your table for its delivery, you’ve got a problem. I spent a large part of my life in foodservice in a state where such an attitude will reap you $ 0 tip and $ 2.13 an hour before taxes and I would never dream of talking to a customer that way. It was drilled into me: apologize, make it right, the customer is always right, no matter what. Elephants, I think its time for a little inservice with your staff on how to serve your guest.

Everything that we’ve had has been incredible! The reubens are some of the best we’ve ever had. I’m currently obsessed with their fish tacos. The pizza is great, too. Comfortable, casual atmosphere. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Really, really love this place!

Honestly, I want to like this place because it’s so close to where I work, but the food is really average. The interior is OK, but it gets pretty loud /echoey. It’s not really bad, but it’s not really good. Overall, the word I’d use is bland.

I am so excited that I found this fabulous restaurant /take-out /wine store & bar! Every single item looked incredible. Many people were lined up for the daily special, fried chicken. They also had a pizza station. I purchased curry chicken salad, sugar snap peas with mint, a gourmet sandwich and salad. Nice selection of wines at retail(not restaurant) prices. They’ll uncork the wine and serve it to you at their bar! Only a tiny complaint. Their self– serve bakery area mislabeled some items, so I didn’t get what I meant to get.

Great for a wedding reception — I just attended one there and the food was terrific, and the wait staff was very good as well. Not a posh venue by any means but if you have a small’ish wedding reception of like 150 people and you don’t want to drop more money than you have to, do it there. I looked at their catering menu and their prices are reasonable. I don’t live in Oregon and I am not in the marriage market but I’d recommend this place. The next time I am there I would like to go there for lunch/dinner because I have not eaten there for like 12 years, before I moved to California. Elephants has been around for a very long time and while their food was never the cheapest, it never disappointed. I’m glad they found this creative way to do business, with the downstairs restaurant and upstairs reception room.

As with the other elephants it is a bit pricey for lunch or breakfast. TONS of options. The staff here is pretty cool and they handle the lunch rush ok but there is definitely a line. good for both sit down as well as a grab and go lunch.

If I ate everything I wanted to here, I’d be the size of an elephant. Is that how this deli got its name? You can find something for everyone here at Elephants. On the go? There’s plenty of packaged sandwiches, soups, and salads cooling in the fridge. Looking for a dine-in brunch(or lunch, or dinner)? Simply order from the food stations you want, grab the number on a card, pay for it, sit and wait for it to get in your belly. I guess you do have to feed yourself. Elephants won’t do that for you. We ordered the pastrami reuben(which comes with a scoop of delicious potato salad and a pickle) as well as a whole fig and prosciutto pizza fresh from their brick oven. Everything was on point, and I even had enough left over for another meal! Elephants also proudly serves Stumptown coffee, so you don’t have to worry about starting a morning without a good cup of joe. Can’t wait to make my way through their menu, especially brunch!

I had the biscuits and gravy(that came with a large dish of fruit) for $ 6 and a side of hash and potatoes for $ 5 and a $ 7 mimosa. The fruit was thee to take away the guilt from all the starch I was eating — and it worked. That and the orange from the mimosa. My friends ordered everything from the quiche to the eggs benedicts to lunch food items like hamburgers to salads. I hadn’t realized they have a private parking lot in back and parked on the street. Not that it mattered, since I got a spot right in front. The restaurant does not take reservations and we had a group of 8, but that was okay, because they have a large banquet room upstairs and we were given an ample sized table. It was also very lovely up there, with it’s balconied windows, like you were in a villa in the Italian countryside. Elephants is known for their great food, so there isn’t much more I can add, except that this location is just adorable and a place you must visit for brunch… or lunch…

Ordered breakfast and a latte. I love this place and will definitely be back! The cooks are so welcoming and genuinely friendly people. Also the food was reasonably priced and totally delicious(I’m a very experienced and picky breakfast connoisseur). My soy latte met my Seattle standards as well!

I can’t say enough positive things about Elephant’s Deli. Every location I’ve ever been to blows my socks off. I am always so happy about the variety of everything I can try and sample, simply because they charge you by the pound. You can seriously find something there for everyone. I’m obsessed with being able to try a little bit of everything, and couldn’t rate this place higher. It’s my favorite!

I love Elephants, in all their incarnations. So, I decided to try their newest location, Elephants On Corbett. I headed over this morning, a Sunday, and found the place almost empty. Pretty unbelievable, given how good the food is. The space is open and airy. Comfortable and clean. The staff is amazingly friendly and accommodating. They got us spoons for our hot chocolate(with lots of whipped cream and chocolate sauce… yum!) when we asked where the spoons were. They brought 2 extra plates when we asked for one(since we split everything between us). We ordered the Dutch Baby and the Veggie Hash. The Dutch Baby was really good. Covered with Fresh Fruit(strawberries, blueberries, blackberries… and this is in January!) and with a squeeze of lemon, this Dutch Baby was big and delicious. The Veggie Hash was just all right. They put scrambled eggs on top, but it would have been better with a nice runny poached one instead. That would have given them the coveted 5 stars.

No question, I do like their location here in John’s Landing. Was recently in that zip code knocking out a week’s worth of mandatory job-training type classes and had already had my fill of the nearby Honeybaked Ham(for the first time in about 30 years). So via multiple recommends, decided to check out Ele’s deli. It’s an attractive, bustling, high-energy edifice, no question(as in, high human excitement vibe, not high carbon footprint —- at least, not that I’m aware of…) I expected it to be spendy, and it was. I expected a curiously enthused brunch crowd, and sure enough, they were there w/bells on. I didn’t have the brunch, but it’s ala carte, which to me takes most of the fun outta brunch. My glutton-boy instincts, along with years of reinforcement from the Red Lion and Shenanigan’s brunch days leave me resolute on this point: Paying significantly MORE, for significantly LESS food, is NOT a good tradeoff, sorry! You’re not gonna convince me otherwise, no matter how good the tofu scramble or the eggplant ala ciabatta might be. I did particularly like the orange/tomato soup @ Ele’s, as well as their cream o’ mushroom w/wild rice. But again, I’d like it that much more In the lower quality, «slightly» higher volume buffet format. I do recognize that especially in areas like John’s Landing, the demographic is older, well-heeled, and particularly persnickety about things like brunch, and are only to happy to put their moolah where their snooty patooties be dwellin, capisce? That means I’m not gonna win this argument with this crowd, in this locale, so that means, If I wanna properly enjoy brunch as I know how it OUGHT to be done, I’m simply gonna have to take my bid-ness elsewhere. And y’know what? I can live with that. My favourite eatery in John’s Landing remains, unequivocally Bamboo Grove. Sure you pay a lot there, too, but at least there’s all the fabulous leftovers to look forward to. In spite of all that’s been said, I would go back to Elephants on Corbett and spend money trying out other menu items in the future — – but I’d look for groupon or dates that actually wanted to pay for me for a change, before heading back in that direction…

This place blew me away, it’s huge and well thought out for starters. They also have a very large selection of all sorts of food from pizzas to sandwiches to grilled items and comfort style home cooked food. Even better they offer a grass fed burger with fries for like $ 7 and it’s tasty! It gets pretty packed at times so try to eat of hours and it’ll be faster for you, or just be patient. I’ll be eating here a lot, enjoying the tasty food and outdoor seating with my dog.

These are my old stomping grounds, and I believe that even seven years after I moved out of this hood, I can still attest to the lack of serious food options in the area. Oh sure Café du Berry exists if you like French bistro food served up with decidedly French service, Corbett Fish House still has some of the best(IMHO) fish n’ chips around, and a couple of other solid spots are dotted across the John’s Landing map. But the addition of good ‘ol Elephant’s to Corbett has brought a little more game to the area. Haven’t been to an Elephant’s Deli? Expect cold sandwiches, salads, hot foods like naughty casseroles, pizza, made-to-order sandwiches, soups, desserts, chocolates, wines, beverages… the options are fairly endless and the quality is good. Good enough to have me popping in when I need lunch now and here. Enough to get me to drive across town? Naw. But that said I don’t hesitate to recommend it for people who need solid quick grub or have a group full of non-aligned fussy eaters, since you can make just about anyone happy here. Oh, and they serve beer, wine and I believe cocktails. A high-five to keeping the tradition of the three-martini lunch alive.

When living in John’s Landing this small area close to the river and downtown in Portland, my hubby and I used to take walks past this building. This building was once an art studio, but now it’s been entirely renovated and fashioned into an adorable, yet large deli. I’m not sure if deli is the right word either. «Why is that?» you ask. Well, it’s because the menu is not just about sandwiches. They have flatbread pizzas, sandwiches, pastas, and meals to go for those on the run. I never expected for them to have lasagna or oven baked«fried» chicken or cheesy scalloped potatoes for that matter. I also came across an assortment of gourmet chocolates and unique beverages like ginger beer. There’s an outdoor patio on the first floor and there’s another patio up higher on the hill that’s connected to the 2nd story of the building. The interior is very warm and welcoming, and the curves of the counters implore you to explore the premises. The walls are a golden yellow, and the contrasting booths and chairs are a vibrant red. The interior feels very«alive.» There are several locations, and this is the only one that I’ve been to, but I would definitely recommend it since the food was pretty decent too. The outlay is a tad bit confusing as another reviewer mentioned since you don’t know where to order or pay, but the staff is very quick to hone in on your needs and answer any questions you have.
