I typically don’t write Unilocal reviews unless I had a terrible experience or an amazing one. Soren and his team at Clarkbuilt fall in the latter category. I hired them to do a seismic renovation to bolt my house to foundation (1922 house with a fully finished, carpeted basement). Their bid was in line with most others, and I chose them because I trusted they could put the basement back together again the best. Well, right around when they were finishing up, we had the INSANE 12÷7÷15 rains in Portland and my basement carpet was soaking etc. Even though it was not technically what I had hired them to do, I called Soren in a panic and he sent over 3 people to get that carpet and rug pad out ASAP (so there wouldnt be mold). Then I went out of town for 2 weeks and he was great about staying in communication and a couple times there were heavy rains was nice enough to send someone over to check on whether there was any further water intrusion. I liked everyone on his team — very trustworthy and hard workers and I never felt uncomfortable being alone in the house with them. Other contractors are hard to get a hold of but Soren is super accessible via text or phone. They finally finished up yesterday (there was a delay due to the water situation and I decided to waterproof the basement) and I was anxious to get on Unilocal to give them 5 stars. If I ever need anything done to the house again I will be calling Clarkbuilt.

We’ve worked with contractors before so when I say that I am wildly thrilled to have worked with Clarkbuilt for our recent project I say this with the bitter memory of remodels at the old place. Major gratitude to Soren Clark and his amazing crew (shout out to Andy). Soren helped us do as much as we could within our budget and his bid was realistic and left no surprises. We were able to add a few changes and he was great about addressing issues as they cropped up. He always had great suggestions and really listened to what we said we wanted in our remodel. I wish we’d had more money to do even more but one thing we were able to do with Soren’s help was have him craft an artisan shelf with raw edge maple and steel that looks amazing and he also crafted a gorgeous maple butcher block cutting board that fits over the sink. It’s all wonderful. I love, love the way the kitchen turned out.
