The owners/management needs to communicate better to their customers… I went here today(12÷2÷2011) @1pm and they were CLOSED… not sure what’s going on; no note, or recorded message when you ring them. And I was sooooo looking forward to trying their food, especially the Michele sandwich. *Maybe* I’ll try again some other time :(

I don’t know when everyone else is eating here… the last 3 times I went by they’ve been closed. This is DURING their posted open hours. I called tonight before I drove over, and no one picked up. Surprise surprise. This place gets great reviews, but I’m about to give up. Can anyone help me out? What am I missing here?

The Rich Boy Sandwich is delicious! I really enjoy coming here, the food is always great, fast service, wifi, family owned, and they support College Park High School!

Try the flatbread — freakin’ amazing. I usually get one of the specials along with the soup. Words cannot explain how delicious their soups are, well worth the $.99 add on. Last time I tried the bread pudding with caramel sauce, Gustavo says it his grandmother’s recipe and, well, Granny knows her stuff! Always great service, and usually there’s a good movie playing on the tv.

Funky and very authentic Italian sandwich and pasta bar. For a quick and very good quality lunch or take out dinner this is a welcome alternative to the tired sandwich chains. Mr sandwich is as authentic as his food. A north of Venecia transplant, his spot is a real anomaly located between Safeway and Starbucks.

My regular lunch crew and I don’t generally get sandwiches at lunch. It’s almost always Thai, Indian, or a burger. We’re predictable people. We wanted to try somewhere new and Unilocaled this place and decided to try it. I ordered one of the chicken sandwiches and it was delicious. Meat was great, bread was fresh, perfect balance of sauces and veggies and cheese. We hung out outside after finishing our meals, all of us deciding this should be a place in our regular rotation of restaurants — when the owner came out with free ice cream. FREEICECREAM! Yaaaay! It was really delicious ice cream too. It was a kind, unexpected, and generous gesture. Oh, and yummy. I’d go back here just for the ice cream. We returned again a week or two later — and I ordered the lasagna. After he quickly served our meals(again, everyone pleased with their sandwiches) he noticed me putting hot sauce on my pasta and told me to tell him next time and they had a delicious spicy sauce — which I’m really excited about! After we finished(completely stuffed!) he brought us ice cream again. Talk about spoiling your customers! Thanks Mr. Sandwich!

I got a pastrami sandwich. It was excellent. They have a nice selection of condiments — spicy sauces! After finishing our meal, our leftover group of 4 were served 3 cups of ice cream, on the house. Helllll yeahhhhh! In case you’re wondering, it was vanilla, rocky road maybe, and something resembling neapolitan, you know, if you replaced the vanilla with pistachio. I don’t know if that sounds good, but it was primo excellente. I shall be back! Again and again.

I had Jury Duty in Martinez, and they gave me a 2.5 hour lunch break. I made my way down to concord because this place had such great reviews. I ordered the«Michelle.» After I ordered and paid, I realized i always get extra avocado. I asked them if I could pay extra, and he said, «Don’t worry about it, today it’s on me!» Then, I asked what the garlic spread was, wonderign if it was butter based. He said it was a vinagrette, and he said he would put it on the side just in case. GREATCUSTOMERSERVICE. A sandwich is a sandwich, bread, vegies, meat and cheese. Right? This place has a kicker. The GARLICSPREAD is absolutely delicious. I love garlic, and adding it to the sandwich made such a huge difference. Melted cheese, creamy avocado, and garlic. So good. The sandwich was a moderate size, filled with a good amount of chicken! I enjoyed every single bite of it! This place is definitely worth going too!

Is this it? Have I found the holy grail of sandwich shops? All I can say is that after 2 visits to Mr. Sandwich, this place rates very high on my list of sandwich shops! On our first visit, I ordered the«Michelle», a tasty sandwich made with chicken, bacon, avocado, cheese & the usual toppings. Not sure quite how he made it so, but the owner gave the meal just the right amount of acidity that he got all of my tastebuds celebrating. Our second visit, I went with Mr. T(Soprano) which is in fact perfectly named. I could easily see Tony Soprano chowing down on this sandwich made with salami, ham, provolone, and bologna. That sandwich was just as good as the first one I tasted here! Best of all, the owners are super friendly and my wife, who tried their lasagna, absolutely fell in love with it. They also sell some yummy bread crumbs which my wife used to make chicken parmesan one night at home. Hooray for Mr. Sandwich!

I think it may be time to promote his title from«Mister» to «Earl». The sandwich menu here is a list of creative California style combinations. We ordered two of them and swapped halves for variety. Stunningly fresh breads, and outstanding combinations of meats, spreads and produce on each one. Other people are saying Mr S is kind of expensive, however I’d say this type of quality is worth it. Plus, as others have said, the owner is really nice. I always prefer doing business with an owner whose reputation is on the line. Next time, I’ll try the pasta.

Decent sandwich, decent soup(99 cents with a sandie)…but not quite the«tastes like homemade» that I was hoping for. Very large menu for a small sandwich shop, lots of hot sandwiches, pastas and soups. Very friendly service. Super loud soda machine(or maybe it was the ice cream case). Get that thing fixed. 3.5 stars overall.

Being that I work in the bank across the parking lot and was a huge fan or this place originally, I was more than pleased, slightly less than ‘ripping-off-my-tie-and-lighting-it-on-fire-excited’ that this place reopened at the end of the summer. The owner Gustavo and his wife are amazing and extremely friendly, and I have never been disappointed in the pasta or sandwiches here. Their Italian Sausage sauce on top of either ravioli or tortellini is amazing, and their sausage doesn’t have fennel in it ruining the texture which is a huge plus. The soups are very well done too for being simple, usually being Italian lentil or Minestrone. If you happen to go on a day where bean soup is available, it is a must have. Also, for the reviews knocking quantity, I am always happy with what I am served and the portions are perfect for lunches. I will support quality over quantity any day. If you feel slighted get over it because their prices are very reasonable(5 $-8 $) for pretty much whatever you want on their extensive menu and the food doesn’t leave you hating yourself when you leave. I’ll pay $ 7.50 for a sandwich from there with quality produce/meats than $ 6.00 for an abysmal, overly processed Subway sandwich any day. I recommend it to anyone who needs a good sandwich and doesn’t feel like dealing with processed chains. Favorites: Sandwich: Ma Fangulo Pasta: Meat tortellini with Italian Sausage sauce. Soup: Bean Soup

I stuffed my face with their tuna melt today. It was a bit messy but delicious. I walked in thinking that I wanted a tuna melt but somehow missed it on the menu(last item under hot sandwiches) so I asked for a tuna salad sandwich. The man taking my order said, «would you like the tuna melt?» Yes, I would, and thank you for being so intuitive! Most of their expansive list of salads, pastas and sandwiches range from $ 5 — $ 8. My tuna melt, with tax, was just under $ 8. They did not skimp on the tuna salad, avocado, tomato, lettuce and swiss cheese. While waiting for my sandwich to be prepared I examined their menu more closely and noticed their build your own pasta options. Choose from a long list of pastas, sauces and add ons. I think I would try one of those next time. That’s about as far as I got looking at the menu though, because my sandwich was ready so quickly and I was off and heading back to my office. Two more check-ins and I get a free Italian soda!

Unilocaled this place, pretty good. While we ate in people definitely ordered the Michelle. We got that and a sandwich special, Italian sausage. The Michelle was pretty good. Dining area was small so each table had room for only 2 – 3 people. But it wasnt busy so wasn’t a problem. It was nice and warm inside. Sandwich prices were more expensive than I thought. The 2.99 promo people were talking about in earlier reviews ended so each sandwich is about $ 8 – 9. Lunch for the two of us was about $ 20. The guy behind the counter was super Italian couldn’t understand him but didn’t matter it was an accent you dont mind listening to. Haha Would recommend. Bread was good! I want to try the pasta next time.

This place Rock’s: Good Value! Is the best place for sandwiches in Concord-Martinez-Pleasant Hill. I went to this place thank’s to Unilocal people. Definitely I must to say that everything about this place is true. Yeahhhh! Is a gem in this village. Our yummy tasty sandwich was delivered by the owner. Actually, I came back a couples of times in the same week… Also, a few week ago, when my parents came to visit us from Spain we went there. The other good thing was that the owner spoke Spanish(he lived in Argentina and Spain too!), so, everything was excellent. Better, impossible. And… He gave us FREE ice cream for all!!! Thank you Mr. Sandwich(cosmopolitan) you are the BEST in Concord-Martinez-Pleasant Hill. Very friendly place and you get more than you pay! P.S: BETTERTHANDOMENICO’S(that place is a rip off)

IT’S HARDTOSTAYFULLWHEN A SANDWICHISTHISGOOD! My friend and I shared RichBoy and Michelle today, and it was AWESOME! Their crispy bacon on RichBoy is out of anywhere in 925. I dont understand any 4 stars reviews, why would you LOVE the food and give out 4 stars? People are strange.

you would never think that a place called mr. sandwich would be this good. AND… they have the junkiest, cheesiest, corniest advertisements… sometimes, there’s a guy standing in the front waving a sign. the togo menu looks absolutely ridiculous… but thanks to my fellow Unilocalers, we gave this place a chance and now i can’t stop thinking about it! this place is super authentic… italian authentic, that is. they play italian music… the lady that makes the food is italian… the décor is italian. i think they should just change their name to mr. italian. the prices here are fantastic… if you order any sandwich/entrée…your second one is 2.99!!! they have everything ranging from pastas to sandwiches to salads… and even ice cream. everything we’ve had so far has been superb. the meatball sandwich is my absolute fave. their bread is ridiculously soft and good… their garlic sauce is amazing… i don’t even know what else to say… 5 stars!!! support this local gem!

This place makes an awesome sandwich! I had the hot roast beef, and I gotta tell you, I have NEVER had a better sandwich. Literally. Like the bread was just crunchy enough, the meat was perfect, and the veggies were piled on just right! Forget about Subway or Quizno’s. Go to Mr. Sandwich.

I had to review Mr. Sandwich in Pleasant Hill off Contra Costa for these two reasons, Quality and Value. The special that they have where you can buy one item and get the 2nd for $ 2,99 is a huge deal. Two people eat for around $ 10! Pros * Lots of pasta choices, ravioli, penne and a bunch of different sauces * Great sandwiches * Great prices with the awesome special they are running * Good quality food! Cons * NONE They have great sandwiches, pasta, with all kinds of different choices. I was able to get a great lunch and take some home for later. The owner is super friendly and runs a high quality local lunch spot. They do catering and have a much larger selection than just Sandwiches. Check them out!

Welcome back Mr. Sandwich! The décor’s not much to look at, but they make a damn fine sandwich. Today I had the Hollywood, and added their garlic sauce instead of mayo. I was also checking out some ladies dishes eating delicious-looking pasta. Mr. has a deal going where you order one thing and get the second order for $ 2.99. Be warned they are cash only at the moment.
