I really wanted to like this place. Need a good neighborhood hang for dinner. I didn’t care for the Shepherd’s pie. I asked if it had veggies and was told no. It was topped with colcannon which was unfamiliar to me. The server described the mas mashed potatoes with everything. I think loaded mashed. They were full of veggies! Don’t like them, which is why I asked before ordering. Large raw pieces of scallions? Or something, carrots, beans. Wasted my money. The hub’s had a burger which was dry. Irish nachos were OK, but not our thing.

Solidly average bar food. It was packed for a Chiefs game, so maybe the service would be better if it were slow. But it was still okay. The Guinness was served in the appropriate pint glass without being overly expensive. Beer battered chicken strips were interesting and the array of dipping sauces made it work. Crinkle cut fries were decent(but needed a lot of salt). I ordered sweet potato waffle fries, but those didn’t make it until after the waitress realized regular fries were on the plate. Once those came… I was kind of unimpressed. They were a bit over-cooked, but edible. Oddly enough the Caesar salad(yes, I know, I have a Caesar salad addiction… I don’t want to talk about it… OK?!) was pretty good; perfect amount of dressing and the 2 pieces of buttered toast that came with it were delicious. In review, I wouldn’t go out of my way for this place, but if I were hungry and happened to be driving by; I’d probably stop in and try something else on the menu.

Good gravy, the comfort food this place serves is awesome. I’ve had the hot beef sandwich and meatloaf specials during my past two trips. The French dip is also great, as are their soups of the day. It’s also one of the few places you can get potato skins(my favorite appetizer) anymore. McGuire’s could use a few more craft brews on its beer list, but I don’t drink that much anyway, and they do have a nice selection of Boulevard beers, which are always good. There’s always a friendly crowd at this neighborhood tavern, and I understand Royals TV color commentator Rex Hudler has even dropped in. Like Rex would say, if you’ve never been to McGuire’s, «you’ve got to GO!»

The Wednesday special($ 5.99 burger and side) is a good deal. The portion sizes were not impressive, but the burger was delicious, with fresh toppings, and a perfectly-cooked patty. I found the service to be friendly, attentive, and quick. I liked that the interior didn’t smell smoky, but it was very open, resulting in above-average noise levels.

My co-workers and I have visited McGuire’s often during the last three years. Overall, I really like the place. The owners and employees are very friendly, and the food is good quality bar food. I am a big pork tenderloin fan, and McGuire’s version is pretty good. I think it’s even getting better because I ordered one today and it was the best one I’ve had here yet. They also have good fried chicken tenders and burgers. I have had a few of their other sandwiches(buffalo chicken, Philly) and they were only OK… as far as sandwiches go, stick with the burgers or a tenderloin. Their french fries are just average crinkle cut, so I would upgrade to onion strings(my favorite) or sweet potato fries. They also have good homemade potato chips if you are a fan of those. I haven’t tried their more traditional Irish stuff, like the shepherd’s pie, bangers and mash, or fish and chips, but I have heard good things about them. Basically, if you want good quality, decently priced bar food, check out McGuire’s. They also have a small patio area in the back that is fun for a lunch or happy hour.

Great Irish Pub! I was here for my son’s basketball tournament and stopped in for a quick bite. The top two hits at our table were the Reuben and the Fish Taco’s! Great friendly neighborhood staff with baseball game on and everyone seemed to know each other. They treated us like locals! Love that!!!

Regardless of the service mishaps I’ve had here in the past, I’ve always been a big fan of the corned beef sliders and their amazing bloody marys, so I’ve made my way back here now and again. I came in on a Saturday at opening time and ordered just that: corned beef sliders, a spicy bloody, and added on an order of hot wings. The owner, Sheila, was working the bar. As expected, the service was amazing! Sheila also pulled out some private stock of jalapeño stuffed olives to garnish my bloodys… nice touch! So, what made me update my Unilocal review? The camaraderie I experienced during this visit. Sheila reached over the bar to shake my hand and introduce herself. A solid regular, Bob, and his lady friend, Kellen, in turn did the same thing and instantly we were like old friends. We shared many laughs and conversed steadily as I enjoyed my lunch and ordered a 2nd bloody mary. I asked for a to go box and my check. Sheila brought me my to go box and Bob intercepted my check and took care of it. In this day and age random acts of kindness like that are few and far between. I happily left a hearty tip on the bar and am looking forward to going back soon to see my new friends. This was a great visit all the way around. Great food, great bloodys, great service, and great people. I now clearly see why the regulars love it here so much.

Not a fan! A friend said they had great pork tenderloin here. I was not impressed. Actually a little undercooked and no seasoning. Might be a good place to visit if you are a regular and enjoy sitting at the bar. Other plan on getting ignored.

Went into this place first time a few weeks ago, it was amazing. Me and my friends sat at the bar on a Saturday evening for drinks and dinner. I had the ribeye dinner and it was amazing, recommended by the bartender Charlie. He gave us awesome service and then told us that we should come back on a Sunday night for S.I.N. We did and had a complete blast. They had amazing specials and free beer pong at 10. The dj Dave Step was one of the best that i have seen. Overall i won’t be missing out on this place

After coming back a second time, this place is really growing on me. We came in late on a Friday night, and many of the same patrons we saw on Christmas night were here again. The bartender recognized us! That’s pretty good since the only other time we were in, we sat at a table and it was crowded! I have a feeling this is a place where primarily locals gather after work and on the weekends. Anyway, we chatted with a couple of people and felt completely welcome. It was nice. The biggest complaint is the rather small tap selection, but at least a couple of them are not domestic, so I can live with it. I just feel good and happy here, and I am really happy to find a bar like this in my part of JoCo. I plan to come and try the food soon.

Came back to watch a Sporting KC game and had a decent shepherd’s pie. The seasoning was a bit unconventional, but I was pleased that the portion size was reasonable, not ridiculous. Good service and put on the game on a TV by my table for me, despite it being karaōke night. There was a UFC event that night so there was no point in going to BWW or one of my usual haunts for away games for which there is no watch party at Livestrong. Keep trucking guys. I think you might make it :-)

Average service, average margarita. But if they don’t like the song that you just *paid for* and played on the jukebox? They’ll skip it and not apologize. And no, it was just an average length, average Prince song… not even nasty or anything. When I mentioned it to the bartender, she shrugged it off.(She must have been the one who skipped it.) No apology, no refund… no tip! Really, is it too much to expect to get what you paid for? AND with no apology?
