We saw this place when going to Johnny’s on 95th& Antioch. We were seated right away(it was about 3pm on a Monday so no crowd). Got an order of the crab rangoon, which were pretty good. They were creamy and fresh. I ordered the General Tso’s chicken and was impressed. They serve all white meat chicken, which is stated on the menu. The pieces of chicken were delicious and succulent. It wasn’t one of those dishes you get stuck chewing for years because you aren’t quite sure what part of the chicken you got. Crispy and saucy, which is exactly how I love my chicken when ordering Chinese. We ate in the restaurant, there weren’t many seats, but it was clean and friendly. No complaints here. We will be back. Glad to have another Chinese place on the list!

They have the best fried rice, I always ask for spicy and they always make sure they go the extra mile. The employees are super nice and always make sure you get everything you need. Love this place, I would recommend it to anyone that loves good Chinese at a low price!!!

Very good Chinese food at very reasonable prices. At 1:00 today the place was full but the service still prompt and courteous. No frills is correct, as another poster mentioned. I was impressed, however, with the quality of the food and the overall efficiency of the place. I’ll be back.

This relatively new Chinese restaurant in OP(Cherokee South shopping center near 95th and Antioch) is a no frills adventure in eastern delicacies. Not a lot of seating here, but who needs booths when you get your carryout guaranteed in 10 minutes? Employees are always friendly and accommodating of special orders and requests. They doted on my son when we walked in showering him with coos and fortune cookies. My two experiences here have produced the same result — Chinese favorites that you love at a reasonable price with lightning quick service. I strayed from my norm yesterday and tried steamed shrimp and vegetables(no sauce and still really good) and pineapple fried rice. I asked to add chicken, a dollar upcharge, but didn’t find any upon my arrival home. It’s not the end of the world, but a little slip up nevertheless. I’ll be back for sure. There are several good Chinese options in Overland Park but none with the speed and ease of carryout as China Rose.

When we want something quicker and cheaper than Bo Ling’s, this is our spot! Good quality meat, generous portions.

Love the variety and quality of the food. They serve all white meat on their chicken dishes. Clean environment and great for take out. So glad to have a Chinese place in this part of town again!

Decent food. Terrible customer service. I have gone here on multiple occasions and the short husky man is very rude every time I go. For this reason I will never go again.

They don’t take American Express — 5 stars if they would. They really do have great food, and the location is incredibly convenient. Fully recommend the Szechuan Shrimp.

I wanted to love this new place close to us with delivery. Everything was fine, awesome crab Rangoon. Almond chicken, lo mein, pork fried rice were OK, but lacking great flavor. Sesame chicken was awesome, though. Giant portions were enough for many leftovers!

Wow. This was the best Chinese food I’ve had in a very long time. We came in about thirty minutes before closing for some takeout after spending al day on the road. I had the Singapore Mei Fun and the GF had the Kung Pao Chicken. Both dishes were very good and tasted like they had quality ingredients. Egg roll and crab Rangoon were fresh and crispy. Definitely a cut above the rest. This will most likely be my go to place, even if it’s further away.

Great General’s chicken!!! Consistently good every time we’ve had it. Fantastic so far… for you locals, support a great neighborhood business!

Small dining area allows for staff to be efficient & quick. I ordered the Singapore Mein Fun — it was a good size portion for 8.95& made fresh. It was suppose to be spicy(marking on menu) but it wasn’t. It was a little bland but had quite a few pieces of beef, chicken & shrimp. I put some siracha on my leftovers which made it quite a bit better. My daughter order the Orange chicken dinner for 7.50. It is a great deal — an egg roll, crab Rangoon, rice, & chicken. Her food was made fresh & was hot — chicken has a good tangy flavor & rice was well seasoned. Definitely going to go for another visit but just need to ask for siracha for back up spiciness

Exactly what you would expect from a cheap Chinese food spot. Being from Springfield, MO I’m pretty picky about my Chinese food. Price down there doesn’t effect quality so I’ve been searching for good, cheap, quality take out for a while. Once this place opened and it was only a five minute drive away I had to try it. We also got a menu in our mailbox so it was a sign to give it a shot. Both times I’ve eaten there have been take-out. The food is always hot, the guy that took my order on the phone is kind of a jerk. The way I judge a Chinese place? Their Crab Rangoon. Theirs is mediocre. A good amount of filling but nothing spectacular. The General Taos Chicken has a good spice and their Lo Mien isn’t greasy with the usual filler veggies. Meat portions are great. Breading on the chicken is pretty soggy. Overall a 3 — it’s solid but it has some flaws. I think I’m just spoiled coming from the city that invented Cashew Chicken…

I had really high hopes for China Rose when I heard OP was getting a new Chinese restaurant. Went by to grab dinner on a Tuesday. Not very crowded, only two other booths taken. Several takeout orders being picked up while we dined. The restraunt overall was on the smaller side, but clean with friendly staff. We ordered soup which was brought right out. I’m a huge fan of egg drop soup any chance I get. This time I was not wowed. It was extremely thick and very bland. I would be hesitant to order it again. When our dinner finally came out my husband received his plate a solid ten minutes before mine came out. I ordered the dinner portion of the Orange chicken with fried rice. The orange sauce was great and included actual orange peels but not as spicy as I usually like. The chicken itself was rather tuff with a few pieces of awkwardly cold broccoli pieces mixed in. The fried rice was basically rice doused in soy sauce, I’d avoid it if I come back again. My husband had the cashew chicken which tasted better but lacked in the flavor department. Good price point, but the food definitely needs some work.

Went in with 4 others for dinner and it was a good deal. The food was really good. Two of us had beef/broccoli, the others had sesame chicken, schezuan chicken, and chicken with vegetables. Everyone loved their meal. All the veggies were fresh and meat was good. Now, the Dinner Combo was the deal! It was $ 7.50 and that got the meal(meat with rice choice) and not one, but TWO egg rolls or TWO crab rangoons! That extra egg roll was a big plus for me. Service was good. Pretty quick and friendly. The minor knocks was that they wouldn’t split the rice(half fried and half steamed) for one of our orders. No biggie. The big knock for me was they had the TV on the news. I don’t want anything on(except maybe sports) TV when I’m eating dinner. And this was showing some shot up bloody guy over and over. But that seems to be the thing in Chinese restaurants now, show the news. The place is small(7 booths and 3 small tables). No big deal unless they’re busy which they might be in the near future. They do carry out as well. Several people came and went. I’ll certainly go back again.

First time ordering take out from here and overall, we were satisfied. Not super impressed but we will definitely be coming back. The good: You get A LOT of food. For dinner, I got the General Tso meal dinner combo and will have more than enough for lunch tomorrow. More than enough rice, chicken, and 2 medium sized egg rolls. Two crab rangoon were another option. The flavor of the food was good. The egg rolls were decent and the crab rangoon were better than places like Panda Express but below Dragon Inn. The bad: The 10 minute wait I was quoted on the phone was more like 20 minutes. Despite getting Sweet & Sour Chicken and extra crab rangoon, we didn’t receive any S&S sauce. The bag was stapled so I wasn’t really able to check. As I said, the food was good. We will definitely be ordering again as the price and quantity made for a very good deal.

I don’t typically write reviews unless something is very GOOD or very BAD. I fear this place will be dangerous for me, as it is just around the corner from my house and so so delicious. I called in a take-out order for lunch, the man who answered the phone was very nice and pleasant. I’ve noticed that pretty much anywhere you call in an order around lunch time that they seem to rush you, not the case here. Of course, this may change as they get busier but I hope not; was a nice change! I ordered the cashew chicken and it was amazing, full of flavor! For just over $ 6 with tax, the portion size was very generous. Will definitely be returning!

Thank you, China Rose! This part of OP has needed a Chinese place for years! This was Day 3 of business for China Rose, and they happened to hang a menu on my front door. With that being said, I figured I should forego my rabbit food diet and try some orange chicken and steamed dumplings. I called in for takeout. Ten minutes later, my day got better First, the interior is all brand new, and if you want to eat in, there are six or seven little booths for that. I am a carryout girl, so I will probably never try out a booth. You can see back into the kitchen. Everything is sparkling stainless steel and clean. Now let’s get to the food. For a massive portion of everything, my total was $ 14.90. Not bad considering I like to eat, and this is three meals’ worth of food, easy. Orange Chicken: PERFECT light breading. Extremely light. Just enough to tease. I prefer to taste and feel chicken, so I like it this way. Lots of rich orange sauce. Spicy? Not particularly. I will ask to bump it up next time. Now then, this was white meat, and I found zero blobs of fat and zero connector/gristly parts. That will turn me off on a place for good. Egg rolls: Egg rolls. What can I say? They are not my favorite item but they come with the dinner combo(2 of them). As egg rolls go, they were just fine. You can choose crab rangoon, so next time I will try that. Steamed Dumplings: Nom nom NOM!!! Delicious with the dipping juice. I really could just do dumplings for a meal. As they have just opened, be understanding if service hits a small snafu; they will make it right! Still training a couple of cashiers. This is going to trump HyVee and Jimmy John’s, my other local options when I do not cook. I will update after giving them some time to settle in. TRYCHINAROSE! I think you will be glad you did. My tummy sure is.
