Lin’s Buffet just opened in the last several weeks. If you view updated interior as a sign of cleanliness, you’ll like this place. It’s not fancy, but it’s new and in no way run down. I stopped in at lunchtime for their buffet. They were steady busy, but I had no issues grabbing a table. Like most Chinese restaurants, they offer a full menu To Go and a limited menu for their buffet. Service was simple and easy, with the woman helping me refilling my drink when I needed one.(Not always an easy feat at a buffet, unfortunately.) For the price, I found the buffet spread was fairly diverse. The quality varied, but as a whole it was solid. The Honey Chicken and Chicken with Broccoli were both great. The beef in the Beef and Broccoli was tough and chewy. The egg rolls were good and fried well if not memorable, while the crab rangoon was a bit lackluster. They offer hard-serve ice cream, both chocolate and vanilla, in addition to their other dessert offerings. For the price, location and service this will likely be the spot for my Chinese fix from now on. Honestly, I’ve yet to find great Chinese anywhere in Kansas City. So this place is good enough for a good enough price!

I had a very good lunch experience at this new restaurant. I ordered the buffet($ 6.99), which had all the basics, including shrimp, pork, beef, and chicken entrees, fried rice, soups, a couple of fruits, desserts, scoop ice cream, etc, but no salad, hibachi grill, or sushi. The buffet may be limited compared to others, but I tried several entrees, and they were all perfectly cooked, and very tasty, with plenty of flavor(especially the chicken wing, and the chicken on a stick). The drink and plate removal service was pleasant, and attentive. The dining area was clean, and new, with soothing Chinese background music. Takeout was available. Very nice!
