Peppers Mexican Restaurant

I’ve never eaten inside the restaurant but I’ve ordered delivery on three separate occasions.
The first order was quite large. It was on a weekend and to my surprise, they delivered. Score for anyone who is hungover and can’t roll out of bed. Right? The food was amazing! It crispy, it was hot, it was delivered in a timely manner.
However, it subsequently got worse.
The second order was for a tamal and a chimichanga. The chimichanga was crispy and huge but when I tore it open, it was filled with ONLY chicken; no rice or beans. The chicken tamal was dry and flavorless. I called to let them know my chimichanga didn’t have anything in it but the chicken and I asked for no vegetables but it had lettuce. Whatever, I was drunk and hungry. I let that slide.
Today, a third time, and with my fingers crossed, I called to have this delivered to my office during lunch. I placed the call at 11am and it arrived around 1130. Again, I ordered a chimichanga with no veggies along with a cheese and onion enchilada (just to fill their $ 15 delivery requirement). When I opened it up, the chimichanga was flat and once again, only filled with chicken. The enchilada was smaller than I imagined and quite soggy so 2 bites and the garbage can it went. I called to let them know my chimichanga wasn’t filled properly and was told several times that it was… Umm, I’m here, I’m looking at it and there’s only chicken. Lol.
They said they would bring me another and pick up that one. I really think they thought I was lying so they wanted to see it. Fine, I’ll starve in the meantime. About 30 minutes later I received a call telling me they were at my house. Why? I ordered it for my office. Once again, I had to wait an additional 30 min. And when it arrived, it was filled with beans and rice… But hardly any chicken.
Like, seriously?
They refunded my money and by that time I already drank 3 water bottles and felt full. My meal and my lunch hour ended up being a waste of time.
Needless to say. I’ve tried and I won’t ever try again.

Anyone who gives this place more than 2 stars has no idea what Mexican food is. I had a neon green margarita that tasted like it was made with kool-​aid, a couple of beef tacos that were made with a strange, dog-​food-​like mixture. I’m from the southwest and beef tacos should not be made with hamburger! The jalapeño poppers weren’t even made with jalapeños, but with mini bell peppers. What? So nasty. So not going back.

The food is decent, however every time we have ever come in they have been understaffed and we have had to wait at least 30 min for our food. Today was different though… WE WERE LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET TO WAIT 50 min for our food.
Food was cold but we were starving so we just ate it and left.

I’m only giving this place one star because we at least got our food… generous plates, slow service, no fresh garnishes, like lettuce and tomatoes… guac was loaded with onions. Will never go back.

Food is decent, service is just awful. Had to ask for numerous items that were forgotten, soda was completely flat (they gave me a can when I complained). Too forever to get chip refills. Took forever to get a friggin check! Overworked staff. The food was just average at best. Salsas, while many to choose from, only one tasted good. Seriously, just go somewhere else.

One out of my two favorite Mexican restaurants in Olympia. Great food every time, reasonable prices and you typically get the food quickly. Customer service isn’t always 100%, but the foods worth it.

Went for lunch with a co worker, food was good, compared to my favorite Mexican restaurants probably rates a 7, service was okay as well. They have a salsa bar which is pretty neat! I recommend stopping in.

Absolutely awful. Food is bland, salsa bar has no heat or flavor, and the service is very poor. I have given this place more than multiple tries to convince me that it is a Mexican restaurant worth eating at. Today was it. I am not going there anymore, they have truly lost my business, and I wish all would read this and be warned. There are better places to go than this large hole in the wall.

The only reason I ate here was for a brithday gathering and I did not choose the location. The service was terrible, several of my parties orders were wrong. They have a salsa bar, but everything tastes bland and pretty much the same. My dinner order, after they finally got it correct, was gross. The meat was dry and bland. The rice could have been just plain white rice no seasoning it was so bland. I tried covering my meal with salsa from the salsa bar, but their salsa is so bland and tasteless it did not help. The only thing they served me that was good was the beer on tap and the chips. I will not be going back. I cannot get the disgusting taste of that gross food out of my mouth.

It was really good. Ordering online was great, and delivery was super fast. The only issue I had, was that the pork for my carnitas was pretty dry, but the other meals we had were really good. Everything was very fresh and made well. Will definitely be ordering again.

Omg best Mexican food in town! Its not your typical Mexican restaurant, its Southwestern Mexican food, which if you don’t know its like Texas Mexican food. Had shrimp enchiladas! If your not a Foodie like me, they do have more traditional things on the menu. And they have a salsa bar!

Love their twist on the pollo a la crema. The fajitas, burritos, and pretty much everything else is good. Love the salsa bar as well. They deliver which we love but can be inconsistent on special requests which can be irritating when delivered. They have great selections for children and good sharing options (combos, appetizer platter, etc) if the kids menu won’t do. Service has always been good and consistent when dining in. Great place for kids.

I’ve been going to peppers for years! Before they were at the cherry st location… love the food and the drinks. The service is great too!

Had heard great things about this place from friends but was a little hesitant over their Unilocal score. I shouldn’t have been because this place was amazing! Went during a bit of a down time which was perfect for conversation and I can totally see it getting super busy and loud during peak times. The chips that came were the perfect combo on salty and crispy. The salsa bar, especially the avadaco salsa, really added to the experience and it allowed us to try new things. I got the tacos pastor which is my go to and they were amazing. Very large portion with some amazing flavors. Definitely will be coming back.

The food was tasty and portions were awesome. Ordered the Carne Asada with several different hot sauces and salsas to choose from.
Recommend this place to everyone in Olympia or for those passing through.

I have been coming to Olympia twice a year for work, the past few years. And every time I come, I make sure to have at least one dinner at Peppers. The food has always been excellent with good service (unpretentious, simple but friendly service) and a fantastic salsa bar. I have tried their enchiladas and various dishes from their chef’s specials and enjoyed all my meals. Will keep coming every time I come to Olympia!

We stopped in for dinner. The food was amazing and the service was super fast. Great place to go for Mexican food. The flavors and ingredients were fresh.

I only went to Pepper’s because in the «Best of» issue of the Tacoma Volcano newspaper for Olympia they had this listed as the «Best Mexican Restaurant «
I’m sorry but it just isn’t. At all.
I went in here and they had the award they won pasted on two doors going in and where the hostess seats you. The hostess seated me in the bar which was fine. No problem, the seating in there was nice.
Now I know when trying a new Mexican restaurant the salsa can be a real tease. The salsa and chips might be very good but the main course doesn’t follow through. It’s a gamble. This salsa however didn’t impress me at all. I think it was fresh but there was no flavor, life or spice to it at all. Just bland.
So I proceeded to order. The wait was very long in between placing my order and getting my order. The waitress which was also the bartender looked like she was trying her best and going as fast as she could have gone. I think she needed help to ease her workload. It felt like placing my order was rushed. I was pondering getting a Margarita but my hesitation was not acknowledged and she was gone in nothing flat after ordering my food. I could have easily gone to the bar and asked for one but I figured, why make these long waits even longer?
The food came and I got a burrito along with rice and beans. I also ordered guacamole and sour cream. The food was about as bland as the salsa. I wasn’t impressed with the burrito at all. It had heavy seasoning in the meat. The fake kind of seasoning that is supposed to make the food «spicier» but actually makes it just saltier. The beans weren’t bad but not great. Probably the thing I liked best was the guacamole and it was only a garnish.
How in the world this place won the best Mexican restaurant in Olympia I will never know. Maybe the kudos go to the alcoholic beverages? For me good drinks are only one part to a successful combination to a winning restaurant.
There are in fact more authentic Mexican restaurants in Olympia. They are mostly food trucks however but I never felt like I paid an overpriced meal for something that I hardly liked by going to these establishments.

Went here last night for girls night out. Got drinks and the fiesta platter for all of us to share. Terrible service, terrible food, hardly any tequila in the margaritas. At one point our server walked up to us with fried ice cream and asked, «Um did you order this?» Um don’t you think you would know? They also had the WORST guacamole ever. How does a Mexican restaurant mess that up?! My friend is a vegetarian and the waitress didn’t know what items on the fiesta platter didn’t have meat.
Not going back!
