Chlidren’s Book Project

I must thank whichever deity who is watching over us paltry-​paycheck-​paid teachers… because The Children’s Book Project is still open and doing fine. This second location is a spin off from the fabulous first Children’s Book Project, that I first visited when they were stationed in a woman’s garage.
Poor, new (and seasoned) teachers, take note of this place. Write it in permanent ink on your planner. Because you will score the cornucopia of free classroom books for your students at this amazing set up.
Since they started, they’ve handed out over a million books, and taken in donations to help teachers, pre-​schools, community centers, and shelters stock their thinning shelves with «gently» used books for children of all ages. And they do it all for free.
So head on over to the Oakland or SF location, and come armed with an armful of bags and boxes to carry your newly acquired loot. You will have to do a little mining, but that’s the only way you find treasures like these.
Thank you, Children’s Book Project. You gave me my first classroom library when I thought I would never be able to afford books at all.
No more old ripped copies of Dick and Jane for me! WOO!
