We made a reservation ahead of time for our party of 5. When we showed up a little early we discovered there was only one table large enough for our party and that table had another group that was clearly just starting their meal. We got no apologies for our table being taken and the woman offered to seat 5 of us at the bar instead. They apparently saw nothing wrong with not being able to give us the table we had reserved, and seemed confused when we didn’t want to eat $ 20+ entrees sitting a bar where we couldn’t even talk to each other. Very disappointing, unprofessional restaurant.

I made a reservation for five people at this restaurant for tonight and when we got there, there were only two tables in the restaurant. The table that was big enough for five people was taken, and the woman working behind the bar was not apologetic in the least that they had given away the table we had reserved despite I having made a reservation and is arriving early. She proceeded to seat us at the bar, and seemed confused when we chose not to stay and eat their overpriced food unable to talk as a group at the bar when there was a cheaper Mexican restaurant with ample seating two doors down.

My co-worker and I were in the mood for some authentic Mexican food and decided to try Mi Nidito for lunch. Guac, Chips and Salsa — The guacamole was beginning to turn dark green on the top so I questioned if it was freshly made or not. The chips were a bit hard or over cooked so I did not enjoy those too much. The salsa was definitely the best of the three. Lunch — We decided to order the rib eye steak and shrimp fajita which was ok but nothing special at all. The meal to me was very much overpriced; total of $ 80 for two small margaritas, Chips & Guac, ONE fajita plate, and sour cream which wasn’t offered with our meal so we were charged $ 3.00. As a foodie, I have had better and better priced Mexican food in the city. I don’t think we will be back.

Food is good but extremely overpriced for what you get. Dishes always taste good, but are not always as described on the menu. The inconsistency is a bit of a mystery…

My partner and I enjoyed a very good meal last Friday. Fresh ingredients, reasonable prices. Tried both margaritas, on the rocks and frozen. Like them both a lot. Staff was very nice to us.

We stumbled into this restaurant because we needed to pick up food for our car ride. We were in a hurry and while my boyfriend ordered I looked this place on Unilocal in the car. I panicked after reading reviews and thought it was going to be bad. And expensive. Luckily! It was just one of those things. Expensive. We got the nachos, quesadilla, and chimichanga. It was like over $ 50 for those things but the chicken was legit and this place is authentic. I definitely wouldn’t say it’s healthy … The food was good because of the cheesey and deep friend goodness. They put guac on everything but their guac tastes a little off … Like sorta flavorless or blended with something else.

After working in the neighborhood for many years, so happy to have finally discovered Mi Nidito, a tiny, casual spot where you are treated like family guests. The food is delicious, authentic, plentiful, and affordable. A great option for take out and delivery as well.

Food and drinks amazing. It was as good as it was 10 years ago. Ambiance = hole in the wall but I am OK with that. Not inexpensive but you do get what you pay for, great super fresh Mexican food.

I stumbled upon Mi Nidito after looking for a good, after work happy hour place that wasn’t loud, and packed to the brim with people. Its very cozy(small) but that’s what I wanted. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. The manager was so lovely, we had a nice chit chat while she was waiting for the bartender to come. She immediately gave me complimentary chips and salsa, while i decided what flavor margarita i would have(they have 25 flavors to choose from) I chose guava and later passion fruit, these drinks went down way too easily like a slurpee, but had some real kick to them, i was done after two!!! I ordered a chicken taquito, it was ok… nothing too special, was surpised you only get one taquito! Then at the bartenders recommendation the chicken wings… yeah I know… wings in a Mexican place??? But believe me these were fantastic, really well seasoned, not greasy with a great smoky chipotle sauce. I was impressed! And being the greedy girl I am I had the flan, this also was realllllllllllllllly good! Not too sweet, very creamy, not too eggy… just perfect! My only complaint, and why I took away one star, with this restaurant is that the prices on food are quite steep compared with other places in the area! The happy hour prices on the 12 oz margarita’s are $ 7,($ 1 more for flavored) which is very reasonable. But food menu is bit overpriced, The wings I ordered were $ 10, and to be honest I don’t have a complaint, because these wings were meaty, and they give you 8 of them so that is a good price, but some of the entrée platters that i would have liked to try were just way too much! I still will return for the happy hour margaritas, wings, and the delectable flan though, plus the staff are just awesome!!!

This place is a little bizarre and very overpriced. I made a reservation with a friend and we showed up not realizing there were only three tables in the entire establishment. We quickly realized this place was more for takeout, but we embraced the situation and ordered some food. The food was alright, but some of the prices were pretty ridiculous. There were burritos on the menu for almost $ 30, and my friend ordered a burrito that was tiny and didn’t look all that great. I will say the guacamole was pretty good, and the server was quick; but I don’t think I’d go back.

After getting the late night munchies with Manvi again, we stumbled into this small joint and had ourselves some very standard, clean tasting, satisfying mexican food. The beans did not taste as if overburdened with a tremendous amount of oil or salt, and natural flavors were allowed to shine through. good grub.

These 3.5 stars would be 5 if they would become a taco spot and serve multiple variations of tacos. If you read my profile you’ll see that tacos and salsa are my favorite foods. Their salsa is out of this world but they don’t serve a variety of tacos, which is crazy because I feel like they’d be crazy good. It’s a very small bar, when you go there you don’t feel like you’re in NYC. Did I mention the salsa?

When this restaurant was on 8th Ave we used to go for margaritas all the time. I am so glad to have columns the new location. I had a great mango margarita. As we were chatting about eggplant parmesan, the owner decided to make us the Mexican version, he calls it veracruz. Delicious. I love the food, the drinks and now the owners!

I haven’t been in Hell’s Kitchen since I moved from the UWS to Astoria 10 months ago. I happened to be in HK with a friend from out of town who wanted to tried Mexican food. I have seen so many Mexican places in Hell’s Kitchen that it’s overwhelming, and being from Mexico City myself, I was always skeptical about their quality. But there I was searching for a place to eat. I probably spent good half an hour going through dozens of menus and hundreds of pictures with no luck, until I finally found something that cought my attention: «carnitas Yucatan»(aka Cochinita Pibil), pork carnitas slowly cooked with a curry type sauce principally made of achiote paste, orange juice, lemon juice and habanero pepper, served at the restaurant/cantina Mi Nidito. We went directly there ordered strawberry and passion fruit freshly(with real fruit) made frozen margaritas with tequila Tres Generaciones, while we looked at the entire menu. PK, one of the most friendly guys I have ever met, owner and executive chef of the restaurant was bar tending and serving food. He suggested the healthy beef quesadillas(with vegetables), and the pork carnitas Yucatan. We didn’t wait much to see the quesadillas coming out from the kitchen. They were truly delicious, with the right portion of meet and cooked vegetables. Soon after we got the pork carnitas which were unbeatable. The softness of the meet and quality of the ingredients made me feel back in my hometown. We could not leave without having the home made flan. A delicatessen that should not be missed(I would totally just come back for it). The only thing that would make this place more Mexican would be hand made tortillas and tortilla chips, which shamefully is hard to find at any Mexican restaurant in the US. As a side note, PK had been in the Mexican restaurant industry for 35+ years and he knows as much of Mexican food as my best buddies from Mexico City.

Food = 4 Stars Prices = 1 Stars Décor = 3 Stars The food here is super tasty and fresh… but who’d ever think that the most expensive restaurant in Hell’s Kitchen would be this super casual ma & pa Mexican restaurant! Yep, go figure! What are they thinking with these prices?!? Every entrée is about $ 5 more than any other Mexican restaurant in the area. Sure this place only has a few tables(and I assume they do a great deal of their business as delivery), but these guys need to get a reality check on prices soon! If they don’t, they won’t be open much longer. With all that said, all the food we tried was tasty and above average – the guacamole, steak nachos, and pork chimichanga were all spot on. Plus the margaritas were super tasty and strong! Nevertheless, I will not be returning b/c of the super high prices.

Our party of four enjoyed everything including our drinks. Tortilla soup soup is delish. Margaritas are perfect, but the sangria was a tad too sweet. Tacos are sinful. The hostess was friendly. Fresh ingredients, well prepared. A little pricier than we expected for a place that’s a little dive-y, but we would definitely go back.

The food here is delicious and not too oily! They make it pretty quickly, but it can be a bit pricey(though the portions are big). I love the Nachos Grande Al Rey(hold the sour cream please). Okay so this is possibly the unhealthiest thing you can order here but it’s so so so delicious! Fresh chips covered in cheese and bean dip and guac. Yum, so good! Speaking of guac, the guac with chips is pretty good, and they give you a lot of it. I also like the shrimp fajitas and paella, both of which have juicy shrimp. Not a huge fan of the quesadillas and their salads are nothing special(really just lettuce, tomatoes, radishes). But for the days when you need something fatty, filling, and delicious, definitely try the nachos.

Great Mexican food. great prices… Lunch specials!!! Take out is really quick and the food is fresh! If your ordering tacos please tell them to put it separate from the platter if your taking out because the taco gets soggy from the beans. Other then that the food is delicious.
