The windows look dirty and old. Needs update to décor, old and drab. The service is ok when it’s not crowded. Basically it looks dirty in here. Old dirty tables and chairs. Light fixtures look dirty the place looks very third world. The beef patty was hard, dry and stale. Floors are dirty and the counter tops dirty.

The food is just so so. As others say this is not authentic Caribbean food also the patties are doughy and chewy not flaky and there is hardly any meat in the beef patty and no chicken just crushed curry potato in the chicken patty. I bought a coco bread to go along with the patty but had to skip it because the patty of itself was already a thick chewy dough with little filling. I felt dissatisfied and went looking for something else. The food is a hit and miss depending on which one you go to but skip the patty it’s not worth the calorie intake.

The staff is mean as hell. I’m not sure if they don’t like Americans or if they just don’t like people in general. Growing up in New York, I’m pretty tolerant of aggressive attitudes but this was on another level. The food cant possibly be made with love when the staff is that surly. Use Wanda from Sanford and Son as a reference point.

The worst golden krust that I’ve ever been to. The store is extremely filthy and the food tastes old. A lot of food tastes like it’s days old or was previously frozen. I’ve had beef patties from this location which was still very cold in the center. I’ve also seen the staff handling food with their bare hands and they have nasty attitudes.

Pros: the dining area is big and accommodating. Cons: the staff needs to be replaced as u walk in and reach the front desk no one notices you they continue to have a conversation amongst each other. The food is bland like watered down. The dessert cakes taste like they have been there for a while.

Golden Krust… what can I say about this place that has not already been said? The saving grace of Golden Krust is that the food is pretty okay(not the authentic Caribbean food, but just pretty okay). The customer service sucks. The menus are inconsistent(the menu says that my patty with coco bread comes with a soda, yet the cashier said I had to pay for a soda separately. They will not accept a card unless your bill is 10.00 or more. I will go to this place only if I am really hungry. Otherwise, I will just grab a snack at the corner store.

Terrible Service! Do not go to this location. While the food is what you’d expect from traditional Jamaican food, the service in this particular location is terrible. This is the location on 125st. between Lenox Avenue and Adam Clayton Powell. The women were absolutely rude and insulting and they made you want to leave. The environment upstairs is dirty and the bathrooms are filthy. Also, the women appear as if they don’t want to service anyone. As if they are bothered by being there. The number is 212−663− 7451. If you rare really going to eat here then I seriously recommend choosing a different location.

My 1st having Curry Goat and it won’t be the last… It gets hot in the Building during the Summer… The Customer Service isn’t the Best but this Place is all about the Food… Baked Goods here are to die for… This is a Great Place to eat and invest in as a Franchise… Happy Eating Y’all! :)

WOW — the customer service here is insanely BAD. The people working the register literally don’t even think about looking up at you. Not to mention the place seems EXTREMELY dirty the couple times I have been inside of it. Alright let’s ignore the service and move on the food this place actually offers. I’m pretty sure I’d never even adventure to try something besides the patties here as everything else looks pretty terrible. Then again the patties themselves are pretty bad, however they’re a cheap source of carbs. Problem is the patty its self has this funny radioactive /plastic taste to it, it meshes just well enough that you can just find it palatable enough to make it to the actual filling. If you chose a chicken filling then you will notice by this time the chicken its self has another odd taste to it, it’s just overall pretty disgusting. I wasn’t exactly expecting a good meal from this place, just maybe a half decent patty… but nope not going to happen at Golden Krust.

Crusty is right. The chairs, the tables, the ceiling… all have a thick layer of oily crust on them. My bf left his wallet on the table and when he unpeeled it, it removed the color! It’s amazing I didn’t get food poisoning. The prices are not dirt cheap like other Unilocalers mentioned. For $ 12 you get a small container of ox tail and rice. There are a slew of other restaurants within walking distance that offer ox tail AND a clean table for less money.

LUV the Patties! leave the rest. This place is the carribean equivalent of Au bon pain — the pastry is delicious and flaky — but don’t bother with the middle of the road interpertations of the regular carribean or french cuisine. With that annoying long qualifier out of the way — come get some spicy beef or curry chicken patties! Make sure to ask for the ones with the red dot. Eat them outside on the street or over a floor that you are not responsible for keeping clean — because some of the flakey crust will end up on the ground, and your clothes and your backpack and in your hair — but don’t worry ’bout it — cuz the decelicious flavors and textures will transport you back to a the blue-green waters of Mo-bay or Ochi. If you have been to Jamaica, the«hot’ at golden krust is much mellower than on the island.

WOW I just chanced upon this place and decided to see if they have those delicious jamaican patties here… Not only did they have them, they still had the spicy beef ones(my fav!) left. And to top off an already sweet deal… they only cost $ 1.75 here! That’s a little more than $ 1LESS than what I used to pay for those same patties in Grand Central Terminal. Can’t believe I used to fork out $ 2.95 for them in the past during the period that I was so addicted to these darn patties??? Based on my experience here and at the Grand Central Terminal, there are good and there are off days. Just can’t beat the price! Hopefully the next time I return I will luck out with the spicy beef. CASHONLY.

Amazing Value I’ve eaten at a few different locations and I just love this chain. The patties are tasty. I’ve found that the sides offered tend to vary, so if there’s mac’n’cheese, get it; it is gooey-delicious. And I had a flaked coconut bread dessert that was nothing to turn your nose up at. And so cheap! Today I got a patty and 2 sides for something like $ 3.89. You can’t beat that with a stick.

I was hanging out on W 125th with a friend tonight and he said, «JULES! Let’s get some Jamaican food!» so we went ’round the corner and stopped at Golden Krust. Now, my friend IS Jamaican, and I have been to Jamaica and have had good, authentic Jamaican food there… and this was not it. We had an assortment of beef and cheese patties, which were ok. The round bun(sweet spiced dark brown bun, with currants and raisins, very dense) was rather tasty. I was pleased that they had ginger beer(so hard to find!). I tried ordering a jerk chicken salad off the menu, but the guy responded saying that those menus were relatively new, and they aren’t fully stocked with all of those ingredients. So, their options for dinner are, at the moment,(or perhaps just tonight) rather limited. In Golden Krust’s defense, it must be doing something right to keep my friend coming back for his Jamaican food fix. It just didn’t do it for me.

Whenever I am at 125 St Harlem, I would drop by Golden Krust Bakery for my all-time favorite, Spicy Jamaican Beef Patty which is flaky pastry filled with spicy ground beef, they are simply delicious. I have also tried their Curried Chicken Combo and Sliced Fish Combo but have to say I prefer the Curried Chicken cos the curry is very fragrant and the chicken simply melts in your mouth.
