Great ambience! Wonderful service, delicious food! Found us a spot on a Saturday night even though we didn’t have reservations… started with the lobster bisque, followed by a beautiful crisp salad. For an entrée… sole with crab stuffing. Finished up with half of a piece of a delicious lemon bourbon cake made by Joel himself.

The seafood here is prepared wonderfully. I have been here twice already and it is always cooked to perfection. This is a no-frills place. Very basic, homey décor. Service is great and prompt. What you’re coming for is the deliciously prepared seafood. I would recommend this place to any seafood lover!

First time coming here and just as the previous review have put it, «it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great». Went there with my friend craving for lobsters and the only lobster the have was 2 ½ Ibs at $ 46.00. Because I was craving and committed to getting lobsters I decided to splurge and so did my friend. Unfortunately, for a Friday night there was only one lobster left, so my friend decided on sirloin instead. Our entrée came with a salad and a choice of rice, baked potatoes or linguine. My friend said that her sirloin was delicious but I wasn’t too impress with my lobster. It appears old and not very tasteful. Service was slow and not very personable. It wasn’t very busy during our visit… maybe 3 or 4 parties. The place was quite small and tight. After our stay, I just can’t fathom how the place have continued to be in service for so long. Maybe from all the overpriced food they charge. Most likely I will not be back. I can go elsewhere for better seafood and service at a more reasonable price.

Returning to Joeys after a long hiatus we renewed our original impression, only more so. The service was prompt and courteous, the clams were delicious, the salad was tasty and fresh. The swordfish was perfect, as was the stuffed shrimp. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. We had no room for desert. The food was all good, and pricing appropriate. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here again and would rate it four stars.

Have lived in New Milford for 4 years and drive by the place almost every day. On weekends the lot has a decent crowd. I have mentioned many times that I wanted to try it sometime. Soooo, the other night when looking for something new to try with a group of friends we tried it. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either. It was just OK. The place has a lot of charm to it which is one of the factors that drove me there. The servers seemed like service was not their top priority as if we were interrupting them. Food was ok. Was disappointed for a seafood place that scallops were not on the menu. Based on my experience we won’t be back. Granted our restaurant choices in New Milford stink, but I would rather drive a little further to have a better experience for the money.

I love coming to Joeys for a date night with my husband. A little more expensive but the food is always fresh and delicious! The lobster bisque is my favorite!

I am sorry, but those giving this a 4 or 5 star review must not have eaten out much. I really wanted to eek out three stars here, as a relative of mine loves this place and had been going for YEARS and knows the owner. My first trip. For this area of CT, the prices are way too high. My brother in law and I both ordered the Shrimp Fra Diavlo, which I think was $ 26. Really, a skinny little plate with 5 shrimp on some pasta? And it was so not hot, we asked one waitress for some hot pepper, as our own waitress never came back. She said«you want peppers?». No, «hot pepper». We never saw her again. So we saw the red pepper on a shelf and just went and got it. Sheesh. Service was slowish, not overly friendly. Water glasses always empty. Bread and salad were acceptable, but certainly not in line with $ 26 entrees. If this had all been $ 15.95, it would have been a fine meal! The food was tasty enough all around, but its pretty hard to ruin such a simple dish. Ambience is nice enough, although randomly strung green Christmas lights do seem a bit low class. Maybe if we had been there later, and it was darker outside, we would not have noticed how tacky they were. Everyone was happy enough with the taste of the food, nothing odd. Just not enough creativity or uniqueness for the money I feel.

The ambiance is really sweet and cozy. The food was delicious, wish I had had room for dessert. I’d definitely go back. Perfect for date night.

Last weekend we tried Joey’s we had heard it had amazing steaks and seafood. We both had a cup of lobster bisque as an appetizer that was quite good. I ordered the filet mignon and shrimp she ordered the nightly special swordfish with Cajun sauce. When we got our meal hers swordfish had a cream sauce not what she ordered but as she was reluctant to return it and said the sauce was fine it was very creamy it just lacked flavor it was disappointingly bland. My steak was slightly over cooked but I realize getting medium rare(warm red center) is a difficult thing to time and was still only medium and it was quite tender but again it lacked a really good cut of meats flavor, it was a normal portion not large but not tiny either, it came with 4 medium shrimps as well as some green beans and carrots that were a bit tough due to under cooking/steaming. I had linguine as a side with the bolognese sauce(8 dollars just to add the sauce on the pasta side) it was terrible but then again I was lucky enough to live down the street from one of the best pasta places in CT when I lived in Shelton, CT so I am a bit spoiled there. We also had a twist top bottle of Riesling the bill ran about 120 dollars. I would have given it three stars but I was reading the rating and 3 stars was«A OK» and the«Meh I’ve experienced better» from the two star rating is more appropriate. The atmosphere is lovely as it is an old renovated house with beautiful hardwoods it is a bit cramped but very homey feel. My opinion there are much better places for the price and too many places of equal taste for much less. I would recommend trying some where else unless you are a lobster bisque fan as that was great we both loved it and agreed we should have stopped there and if we go back we will just get two bowls.

I know a lot of people who like this place… now I question their judgement! So overpriced and mediocre. Seriously… over $ 20 for a little fried fish, the kind that reminds me of the food in Cape Cod served on little paper trays! Portions are small, the salad was completely boring and the food isn’t all that great… it didn’t totally suck, but I probably won’t be going back. The service was also EXTREMELY slow… we waited a good 20 minutes between each appetizer, salad and entrée.

Update: After more thought and a mysterious phone call my wife received related to this review, I’m lowering the number of stars from 2 to 1. — — — — — — — — — — - Poor service and small portions of «okay» food are why I’ve given Joey’s only 2 stars. I’d driven past Joey’s for many years and had always been curious about this tiny«renovated old home» looking establishment. There were very few reviews online to be found for Joey’s, which made me even more curious. I finally made it a point to stop in and give them a try. I was greeted and seated promptly, but that’s where«service» ends in this story. Mostly, I was ignored throughout my entire meal while I observed other tables receiving my server’s attention. Perhaps it was because I was a party of 1 and other tables were fuller and possibly worth more gratuity. The double-sided menu had steaks, chicken, and pasta on one side, seafood on the other. Most meals are served with a salad and starch(pasta meals are not served with a side starch). The salad served ahead of my meal was just lettuce and shredded carrots. Barely worth the effort. I chose the beer battered fish and shrimp for my dinner. For $ 24, I expected more than the 3 shrimp and 2 small pieces of fish that were served. There was a thimble-sized portion of house-made tartar sauce on the plate. I wanted more tartar sauce but was unable to flag down a server after my meal was dropped off. The batter had a good taste, but all items were slightly greasier than they should have been. The side of green beans and carrots was a surprise, but nothing special. At the end of my meal, I was presented with a dessert menu with no prices on it. I selected the lemon rum cake(moist and delicious). The server returned with a 2 inch by 2 inch square of dessert… and no fork or napkin. The price of the dessert($ 7) remained a mystery until I received the check. Perhaps their steak, chicken, or pasta dishes are better, but for the seafood I tried, Joey’s is a poor value in both quality, portion size, and service. I cannot recommend this restaurant.

One of my Favorite Restaurants in town, food is always good. Seafood fresh and they have the best Key Lime Pie. Great dinner ambiance. You would not regret having dinner there. Great Margaritas also.

Was really looking forward to trying this place after hearing rave reviews from my parents and friends. I ordered the fresh ravioli with gorgonzola spinach and pesto. It was alright but nothing special… Honestly I feel like the butoni brand ravioli had more flavor. My boyfriend ordered a sirloin with grilled shrimp, with a side of rice and veggies. With a 27 dollar price tag,(more expensive then most steak houses), it should have been amazing. The sirloin was dry and had no flavor. He got 2 shrimp, 2 spoonfuls of rice, 2 pieces of carrots and 5 string beans. For a 27 dollars, that’s ridiculous! I know this place is known for seafood, but I will not be going back again to try. The only thing they had going for them was a cute homey appearance but even that is pushing it.
