The place friggin closed! I got a $ 125 gift card and made a reservation for today, on June 26th and I call today to confirm my reservation ANDTHEY’RECLOSED. When I called a few weeks ago to make the reservation it would have been nice to know they were CLOSING.

Really great dinner! Salads were delish, portobello schnitzel was divine. We all ordered specials. The Bronzino was excellent, as were the scallops and the pork with cherries. Service was friendly and expedient. Looking forward to going back.

A disappointing experience. Bread was dry and unheated. Cauliflower purée soup sounded delicious on the menu but turned out to be watery. It was lukewarm so I returned it to be heated. Came back warm. Three of our four main courses came to the table cold after a 45-minute wait. We didn’t have the energy to send them back. Branzino with cranberry-almond faro was very tasty. Prices are steep for the size of the portions. This was especially true of the duck at $ 28 – very small portion. Service is slow/erratic.

We had a wonderful experience here on Friday night. There were four of us total and we had a reservation for 8pm. We were welcomed by name at the door, based on the name of the reservation, which was a nice touch. Shown immediately to our table, our server, Emily – who we learned is also the pastry chef – greeted us warmly. We started with the cockles, pumpkin soup with duck, spaghetti squash with mushrooms, and for our entrees had the cioppino, swordfish with polenta cakes scallops and bacon, short ribs with a creamy polenta, and the pork chop. Honestly, everything was delicious. Not only was each dish prepared so well, the sauces were really well developed and full of love. They didn’t miss a beat. For dessert, we shared a gingerbread pumpkin trifle and the chai latte crème brûlée. YUM. Both were delicious. Emily also shared some of her truffles with us, which were so good we plan on buying more from her. The menu here changes every month, which is very exciting to us, as we will surely be returning soon.

I went here for dinner on a Saturday night, reservation for 8. Our party was not seated until 8:25 because the group before us arrived late to their reservation. This would be forgivable if they were quick to prepare the table once the group left, but it was like the staff was stuck in quick sand. Overall, the service was far below par throughout the whole night. The food was pretty good, but nothing special. The table had the pork, steak and duck. Each of us enjoyed our meals, but nothing stood out and I would say the meal was average. If it wasn’t for the poor staff(a couple waiters seemed good, but it was poorly organized) then I would probably rate this restaurant as a three. Either way I would not recommend this restaurant to a friend since there are numerous other restaurants close by that are better.

If you’re looking for fantastic seasonal fare in an intimate setting, give 77 Walnut a shot. I started with a carrot soup with pickled raisins that was out of this world and moved on to the house-made pasta with smoked salmon in a light cream sauce. Everyone in my party happened to go with pasta(a house-made gnocchi was one of the highlights) and everyone left satisfied. We finished the evening off with a cheese plate that included a fig chevre that was really delicious. Though I’m a pasta junkie, I need to go back to try some of the other entrees too. Their seasonal focus makes Seventy Seven stand out among the slew of Mediterranean restaurants in the Montclair area. Definitely give 77 a shot!

Amazing gem in Montclair, away from the hustle of Bloomfield Ave. Also, BYOB! Another perk — outside tables on a sidewalk. The owner is also extremely friendly and personable. I peeked inside too when I used the restroom and the venue is extremely clean and decorated very well. The food was extraordinary. Started off with the Heart of Romaine Salad, which I shared with my friend. Definitely not a size for two people, but we did fine with it as we just wanted to taste! The dressing was a delicious vinaigrette with lemon and garlic flavors. Atop was parmesan crisps and anchovy mix on a crisp cracker. For my meal, I got the Sea Bass en Cartoccio. It was absolutely amazing and fresh. The flavors all blended well in the sea bass’s juices since it was baked in parchment paper to perfection. Side of mashed potatoes were good, but I’m not a fan and didn’t finish them. My friend ordered the 5 Spice Pan Roasted Pork Chop. I tasted it and that was also amazing. The sauce tasted like a soy juice to be and complimented so well with the meat. There was also a potato/cheese delicious flakey side and asparagus. Overall great experience. Fine dining for sure, but great it’s local!

I brought my parents here who were here from our of town. Our experience was just ok. Some of the food was spot on, and some of it was unacceptably over priced for the averageness. I would also say I think its slightly over priced given they dont even serve alcohol. The desserts were nothing memorable. They don’t even have real drinks… its like water and some pretentious fruit spritzer drink and nothing else. What the hell is that? LOL. Given all the great restaurants around I wouldn’t go back.

is full of glowing reviews for this establishment, so I was excited to try it when some friends invited us out for brunch. Service was spotty — drink orders were taken here and there instead of all at once and I don’t remember our server checking on us after we were served. I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes. What arrived was not what was described on the menu. It was missing the sauteed apple topping, and one of the two pancakes was burnt. When I asked about the apple topping, I was offered a side of mixed fruit instead. It came in a tiny ramekin — hardly a «side». The pancakes also came with ricotta dollops on top, not ricotta in the batter. The side order of bacon was $ 4 for two slices of bacon. I was tempted to try this place for dinner based on the reviews on , but based on this experience, I’ll skip it.

We found this new addition to Montclair on open table. It’s been open for just two months. Delicious food. Great service. Get the pork chops or the pasta with lobster. Delish! Highly recommend.
