You will not find a better place to buy your fresh baked bread. In fact I believe it’s hard to find something like HighGrain offers anywhere else around here. We stumbled upon this bakery by accident and are so glad we did. Their sandwiches are good size and very tasty. The bread though is something to write home to momma about, cause yes it’s that good. Do your self a carb favor and sample this awesome bread! You will not be dissapointed!

First time coming here based on the rave Unilocal reviews. Pretty packed place with such an amazing aroma of bread, first thought, first love, bread. There’s a reason thy killed for it in medieval times. I bought the multi grain, can’t wait to taste it. Ladies helped me and where very informative and nice, great job! So far so good.

Stopped in on a Sunday and all the loaves and even cookies for sale looked vastly under-baked. Tried the scones($ 7.35/4pieces) since I hate going in and leaving empty-handed. Should have trusted my instincts and eyes; the entire middle was raw dough. What I did eat was bland. It’s a tiny little bakery that tries to be welcoming, but someone needs to check the quality before setting out the inventory for public consumption.

HighGrain Bread Co.(the sign on their store and their labels all states ‘HighGrain,’ but their website and social media has a space between the ‘High’ and the ‘Grain’…) is a bakery located in Manassas. This place makes all the bread and the pastries on the premise and offers breakfast items(breakfast sandwiches and breakfast burritos), hot/cold sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, tea loaves, walnut brownies, gooey bars, cinnamon rolls, biscotti, scones, as well as a variety of breads(multigrain, olive parmesan, kale & feta, date nut, stollen, rye, pumpernickel, raisin pecan, brioche, Irish soda bread, etc.). They even have freshly-baked dog biscuits! :D Make sure you check out their schedule, as it features certain specialty items on certain days! The hubs and I stopped by, and I tried their Grilled Cheese — you can actually choose the loaf you want, so I opted for the Jalapeño Cheese — the grilled cheese was made up of cheddar cheese, American cheese, ham, and chipotle mayo; perfectly panini-pressed, this grilled cheese came out with a nice crisp exterior with an cheesy/gooey filling — it was delicious! Next time, I have to make sure to add some mango chutney(has a slight upcharge)! I also had a chance to try their Pina Colada tea loaf, and this was super delicious!!! The loaf was super moist, fluffy, with a poundcake-like texture, filled with some coconut shavings and a lovely ‘piña colada’-esque taste — sort of reminded me of an upside down pineapple cake! The Banana Tea Loaf was also super moist, delicious, and had a great banana taste, but I actually preferred the PIna Colada version! The employees were super friendly and helpful, and super sweet, especially Christian! I can’t wait to go back and try out their other items, such as the savory scones(available on Saturdays), the breakfast burritos(served starting at 7AM), and the cinnamon rolls(Thurs, Fri, and Sat)! What a find in Manassas! :D +freshly-baked breads: D +Pina Colada Tea Loaf: D :D :D +grilled cheese: D(try with the mango chutney!) +savory scones on Saturdays +cinanmon rolls on Thurs/Fri/Sat +breakfast burritos starting at 7AM +freshly-baked dog biscuits: D +ask for Christian: D +limited parking in plaza lot

So I stopped back in the bakery tuesday evening. wanted some white bread for dinner. Noticed they had jalapeño cheddar bread discounted 25%.so I asked when I had been baked and was told it had been baked on saturday. and this was Tuesday evening… so apparently after 3 days they give you a 25% discount… generous of them(not). While I was there a lady was ordering some white bread and asked for it to be sliced. the girl who waited on her had a glove on one hand took the bread to the slicer and returned collected the money… made change all while wearing the glove(but using the gloved hand to count and collect money) then turned and picked up the half loaf of bread. The lady objected to having her bread handled by a hand that had(gloves and all) handled money. The girl didn’t seem to understand why that was a problem. Makes you wonder what other lack of sanitation might be happening in the bakery.

When I had to take the trip down to McKay’s I happened upon this place, tucked away in the tiny plaza that has a Chik-fil-A and a Starbucks drive– thru. Checked the ratings on Unilocal and it had some pretty good ratings so I decided to drop by – and was NOT disappointed at all! There was a friendly couple that came out just when I was about to go in and they ecstatically told me to try their hot cross buns. Unfortunately I did not this time around but hopefully next time when I am down in the area I will. I have been here twice, and have ordered their club sandwich in their popular Highgrain bread; a part of me wishes that I could live in Manassas now just because of their bread here. The staff are also super duper friendly and even offered me to try out one of their cupcakes for free! So sweet and nice, and always willing to chat about what they offer during the week and/or how they bake their goodies. :) I had their salted caramel cupcake and it was absolutely delicious! Also brought a thick slice of lemon poppyseed bread and some oatmeal cookies for the ride back up to NoVa. Their sandwiches are jam packed with fresh ingredients: things you probably can’t get around its competitors like Chik, Starbucks, and Pei Wei. Plus it’s a local shop, so why don’t you guys go out and support your local community bakers?! You will not be disappointed! If I ever need to come down for McKay’s again, and/or visit my friend who lives in Manassas I will def be back for a sandwich on Highgrain bread. :-)

This is one of my top favorite places to eat. The bakery itself has a very nice warm feel, with beautiful interior design. The bread is warm and fluffy which is rare to find in this area, I recommend the freshly made tea loaves and sandwhiches!

I had their grilled cheese and ham sandwich. It was quite a lot of cheese for me but that’s a personal taste, if you love a lot of cheese on your sandwich then it’s not really an issue. There wasn’t enough ham in proportion to the cheese though, I had hoped for more than I received. It was still tasty overall and I also loved their chocolate chip oatmeal cookies.

So, far everything I have had from here is fresh, tasty, and amazing! Love the scones! I have tried most of the sandwiches and I have been happy and full after all of them! The grill cheese is enormous — and so very filling! The Pina Colada bread is so amazing! My favorite is the gingersnaps. The Basil bread is very tasty! The only complaint I have is the parking is horrible, and there is no where to eat — pick-up only. They have two small tables, but usually too hot to eat inside due to all the yummy bread being made.

This is my second review… I come by this bakery about 3 times a month. I usually get a breakfast sandwich and some cookies or a tea loaf. The cookies are heaven. The oatmeal butterscotch is my favorite. The breakfast sandwiches are usually very good but there has been a few times where it was just OK. I had one recently that was underwhelming. I don’t know if they started using a different brand of sausage on the sandwiches or what but it didn’t taste as good as it usually does. I will still come back here for the baked goods but I think I’ll stay away from the breakfast sandwiches for awhile. Probably the best anyway since they aren’t the best thing to eat while on a diet LOL.

Omg I have died and went to carb heaven. My husband and i ended up here because our usual bread places was closed on a Sunday and we were in the area. Upon entering we headed to the front and tried a couple of samples. We tried the jalapeño cheese bread first. It was fluffy and moist. We also tried a couple of cookie samples which were very tasty. We ordered a loaf of the jalapeño cheese bread and Tuscan herb. Both breads grill up very well and can really make a meal. What sold me on this place is their gooey bars. It may be considered a sugar coma but it was so good!!! I didn’t want to share this with my husband after the first bite but my body thanked me later. I would love to try more of their homemade breads in the future. I also see they make lunch and would want to try a sandwich here in the future.

The best break fast sandwiches in NOVA area. I have lived in NYC, DC, and Chicago. By far the best I have ever eaten. Many different choices… you won’t be disappointed. Also, their regular Steak and Cheese… the best in the area. Been there many times…

A nice bakery that offers a whole lot of choices. They have so many breads to choose from and their sandwiches are not too shaby. They do make their sandwiches on the spot so expect to wait just a little bit for it. I like that because it’s nice & fresh. Got to try the grilled cheese w/ham & veggie sandwich. Both really good & panini style. I also purchased their fresh cookies & scones & spent way more than I expected only because they have so many baked goods to try! They even have doggy biscuits for purchase too. The one & only thing that is a pain is parking. Sometimes(especially on the weekend), parking is a b word. The lot is pretty small for all the shops & food places there. Other than that, I can’t wait to go back to try more!

I’ve had the tuna sandwich and the egg and cheese breakfast sandwich called«The Basic». Both were amazing. Best tuna sandwich I’ve ever had. Bf had the Reuben and said it was one of the best he’s ever had. Bread is so fresh and ingredients are great. Got a challah bread to take home. But the absolute best thing they have is this desert bar with chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, marshmallows, walnuts, etc. called«The Gooey Bar». Holy cow! This thing is what dreams are made of.

Thank you Nish and Sue for a wonderful birthday greeting today. In addition to the amazing and delicious baked goods they make, their hometown small business personalized vibe can’t be beat! It’s worth the visit every time.

Go now and get that damn butterscotch cookie… who knows you make take your last breath and never experience it and that would be a shame because it’s amazing!!! The grilled cheese was awesome… and huge and the sample of blueberry tea loaf she gave me was great also. But really it’s all about the cookie!!!

Oh sweet Jesus! I went here for the first time today and was NOT let down. They had samples galore, so of course I tried some of it all. They had 3 diff types of oatmeal cookies, I sampled the butterscotch one which was delicious. Then she have me a big sample of the orange cranberry bread, have mercy! I think this 1 was my favorite. So light yet thick, and not too buttery. Then I saw the savory scone which has ham, blue cheese(which I usually don’t like, but it’s not abundant in this recipe), onions, & spinach in it. DELICIOUS! I enjoy savory foods over sweets, so I bought 2 which were $ 5.30 with tax. 4 are $ 7 and some change but they didn’t have any more for me to buy. I’ll def be coming back for that cranberry orange one. The service was so good, u just can’t beat it.

This place is pretty good. It’s located right near Starbucks and Chick-fil-a. I’ve had it a few times. The turkey sandwich with the mango sauce is pretty good. Also the jalepeno bread was solid. The only thing I’ll say about the mango sauce is it is a little too sweet/processed. But it did mesh really well with the sandwich. It’s a pretty good new place worth trying in this area. I have a co-worker who normally gets gets the grilled cheese. Next I’m going to try the Gyro on naan.
