If you’re a healthy eater, and want a quick dinner this is the place to go. I’m paleo, have allergies, and struggle to find somewhere that I can get take-out. All of the veggies are cooked in just olive oil and their meat is marinated in its own juices, olive oil, salt, and pepper! It is expensive but you get what you pay for. It’s simple, but not lacking in flavor, healthy, and convenient.

I’m a regular here. Roast has, hands down, the best French dip sandwich I’ve ever had. My mouth is watering just typing this. They also have a super tasty Niçoise salad. Do yourself a favor and pop in. Friendly staff – Roger is awesome – and a great location in the heart of Brentwood Village.

This review rating is on the food and not the service. I ordered the roast rib and the salmon cakes mini sliders with a side of tater tots. They were all really good. I will visit again for the food because there are so many other delicious looking options that I would love to try. I placed my order to-go but received my food later than anticipated.

Wife= We were traveling up Pacific Coast Highway just looking for a place to eat. Good thing we turned on Sunset Ave. and found Roast on Barrington Ave. Made our day! Walking in the door, we were hit with air full of flavor so we knew it would be good. The French Dip sandwich was the best we’ve ever tasted, and the artichoke/palm heart salad was a perfect blend of healthy salad goodness. The setting was clean, and relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed our whole experience! Husband= flat out best food I’ve ever had… no matter what the cost– the best

I really dont get it. Maybe its the dish itself that I dont like but man was that french dip absolutely disgusting. Straight up no flavor and chewy and just tasted extremely disgusting and bland. Its definitely the dish that I dont like. I will never order a french dip sandwich again. Unfortunately that what I have to base this review on. Cant give it anything higher than a 1 star since that dish was horrible. Maybe ill be back to redeem this place but i highly doubt it.

Fantastic deli option in Brentwood! There’s so much more here than you’d suspect, too. I was here about 40 mins to order and eat lunch inside. During my time here I discovered that this place is absolutely slammed with to-go orders. And not just for delicious sandwiches but also for prepared meals and sides. You can order whole roasted chickens, fresh sides, salads, and more. There’s also a complete menu of sandwiches to choose from that include primarily meat options and vegetarian options as well. I had the French Dip to split with my fiancé who ordered the steak sandwich. Both came on fresh, soft bread and the portions were massive. Sides came in the form of many options from fresh chopped fruit to cole slaw to an Asian kale salad. If I lived nearby this would be a lunch spot me at least on a weekly basis.

My roast experience was wondering the bread is nice crispy but they didn’t listen to me when I told them to leave the tomatoes and which I’m very allergic to.

WHATTOEXPECT: – Average tasting sandwiches that cost ~$ 14(which is way outside my sandwich price range). If I’m spending that much on a sandwich, I expect to be crying of happiness. – Parking in the lot across the street – Very few places to eat inside If you have $$ to blow and are in the area craving a sandwich, check out ROAST. But for poor college students, I would still prefer the neighboring Lemonade, or getting my sandwich fix at Ike’s or Bay Cities.

One of the BIGGEST foodie disappointments I have experienced out here. It was recommended to be by a foodie who knew the scene here. I asked if I have never eaten here before, what should I get. They told me the French Dip. So I comply, The sandwich it self was just good, but I would hesitate to call it great. A bit better than the French Dip at an Arby’s however it can’t breath the same air as the French Dip at Felippes. The taters tots they served were like you might get at a school lunch cafeteria. No cheese on the sandwich and with no warning. God forbid I asked for cheese what would they charge me like six bucks? And the tangy white sauce they serve with it was just awful. Only here is my main gripe I PAIDFIFTEENDOLLARSFORBEARLYTWOSLIDERS. I left so hungry I met a buddy at Tumby’s to split a pizza. The portion was so small it was literally embarrassed for them. There was so much white and empty space on my plate it was insane. I am really big on portion size and bang for the buck. It is REALLY important to me as a foodie and this place was probably one of the top 3 — 5 ripoffs I’ve experienced in all my food travels. If you are looking to get your moneys worth AND quality go to Felippes. Oh another thing I understand you are in Brentwood and targeting that hoity toity pretentious crowd with your glutten frees and your kale salad and your grass fed this and your free range that.(Kale is 99 a bushell by the way, and sometimes 50 cents at certain farmers markets.) then don’t pretend to be affordable. If you are going to he THAT over priced than please DONOT insult the public by marketing yourself as «affordable» That word should be NOWHERENEAR your marketing materials. I left that place sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hungry. What a rip off.

Such a disappointment. Living in the Palisades it’s not uncommon that we get excited when a new restaurant opens in the neighborhood. Roast has been one disaster after another. I’ve given this place three try’s and now I’m done. The first time the power was out in the shopping center so they get a pass. The second time I went there in a Friday night. Seemed like like twilight zone. The fluorescent lighting which seems to be the talk around town is just awful. It looks like a KFC. That’s not the point though. There motto is great affordable food. but the average meal is $ 17.00. Besides the point, they were out of chicken on a Friday night. The third time, I called to place a phone order, I was asked to call back in 10 mins. After saying no, I was transferred to a guy who took my order and then went on to tell me they didn’t have any specials today. Mind you their menu has daily specials. Also, they were out of half the sides. I’m done. I’m sorry but I really tried to give this place my business but at this point it’s unacceptable. Let’s see how long this place lasts as I’ve spoken to a half a dozen people who also will no longer visit this place.

A fan, but beware they are not true organic. I love the food from Roast. really my family does enjoy it. But, just know that the chef owner, a super nice guy, but really doesn’t stick to his materials and does cut corners. Wild? Organic? maybe on some things, but not everything. FYI, they use GMO Canola oil and other normal dairy. Organic 360 degrees around? nope. Food is fantastic, just wish the chef walked the natural/organic road 100%.

Organically delicious. A very flavorful combination and variety of food. The staff are very nice and suggested the chicken club amongst other things. I was very pleased with the chicken club that came with my choice of side. There is no doubt that I will be back. This is a must try! Very dainty spot.

Roast has perfected the French Dip sandwhich, it is absolutely fabulous! And, I’m a French Dip aficionado. The beef was cooked perfectly, the bread is fluffy on the inside, a mild crisp on the outside and the au jus is perfectly seasoned. I can’t wait to have another one! :)))))

I find Roast very average. I’ve been here for lunch multiple times, but the service is quite slow and the food is not fantastic. I remember coming here once for a quick lunch between classes at school, thinking an hour would be enough time considering you order at the counter but I didn’t even have time to finish my lunch before having to rush back to class. The restaurant wasn’t even busy– just very very slow. The sandwiches are pretty good– personally I like the roast beef sandwich a lot, but the salads are very mediocre. Not somewhere I plan to visit many more times considering the quality of other restaurants in the Brentwood village. I would much rather go to Belwood or Lemonade, where I can get great sandwiches, salads and drinks.

Flat Iron Steak Sandwich 5⁄5 — My favorite Roast Beef & Brie Sliders 5⁄5 — My 2nd favorite The Brentwood 4⁄5 — Good but extremely heavy French Dip 4⁄5 — Pretty good BBQ Pulled Chicken Sliders 2⁄5 — I wish I never ordered this Tater Tots 5⁄5 — Addicting Potato Salad 4⁄5 — Pretty standard Service 5⁄5 — Very, very friendly manager. Everything tastes extremely fresh. The wait can be long, especially during lunch hours. I always pick up for that reason.

OMG!!! I am so uncomfortable after eating here — because the food is SOOOOGOOD! I got the grilled chicken club to go and planned to only eat half since it was so large, it came with a side and I had picked up a side of truffle mac ‘n’ cheese from Lemonade next door. What I ended up doing was eating half the bland, runny mac ‘n’ cheese and eating my entire sandwich. I couldn’t stop with the first half because it was so tasty. It had all the things on it I love in a sandwich(burgers too): bacon, cheese, avocado and aioli.(Note: I requested the aioli because I saw it listed with another sandwich; I’m not sure what dressing or sauce normally comes on it.) The roll was large and fluffy, toasted to perfection. The grilled chicken was pretty standard(I think the precook it, but then grill it to order), but it came with TWO breasts — super generous portion. The bacon was also a generous amount and super crispy, just like I prefer it. The chipotle aioli was deeeelicious, albeit a bit runnier than I’m used to(not that it mattered). The sandwich, and probably most of the menu items, are priced relative to the restaurant’s location in Brentwood: on the higher side, but not unreasonable considering how much I liked my sandwich and the generous portions. I saw a hot plate come out with two sides and an enormous filet of salmon, so they’re large portions are pretty consistent.(Though, I think the salmon was one of the most expensive menu items.) From what I understand, the fish is cooked to order, so that order took a bit longer than my sandwich, for example. The woman was not happy, but she had ordered her meal to eat in and no one wants precooked fish, especially at that price. In my opinion she was being unreasonable, but the owner(I think) was very apologetic and accommodating. He handled it very well. He also went above and beyond with my order, too, checking on its status when he saw me waiting. He also gave me a complimentary package of gluten-free donuts to try out.(I can’t actually comment on them, because I gave them to my colleague with a gluten allergy.) It’s clear he takes pride in his business and how his customers perceive it. I appreciate that, and I’ll definitely be back — bringing friends!

Love at first sight, love at first whiff, love at first and last bite. I’m hooked and have only been once. One afternoon, while on the starving side, it could have gotten ugly, quickly. Not to worry. From the presentation of the jewels behind the glass, to the calm and friendly vibe of the room, the table is literally set for a great food experience in a casual setting. Much to choose from, be it poultry, seafood or beef, go with your gut: you won’t be wrong. The flat iron steak sandwich was my special treat. Hunks of meat, carved to order crowd their way on a lucious French Roll. There’s some aioli mustard in there, too, as well as am grilled onions. You want to be sitting down for this one — and not in your car ! Side choices included the tasty, not oily or watery coleslaw. It’s very serious what they’re doing here, but it comes across effortlessly. Yes, they are a Market as well, so this would be perfect for that special party, or lunch, etc. A very cool familiar face came in and ordered enough for maybe eight people. It’s that easy… as long as you can cover it, of course. Not cheap, but then, you definitely get what you pay for. And, at ROAST, you’re getting a hearty joyride for your mouth and belly. So good. Can’t wait to try more things here.

Oh my goodness is this place good! We were looking for a bite to eat on this side of town so we could kill time as traffic died down. I Unilocaled this place and I can’t wait for us to go back just thinking about it right now. I had the corned beef entrée with a side of yam and Brussels sprouts. And my sister ordered the short rib with gravy, Mac & cheese, and mashed potatoes. Everything was SODELICIOUS. I couldn’t stop from reaching over to pick at some of my sister’s tender and juicy short ribs in between each helping of my own corned beef. My sides were PERFECT! And my sister said she enjoyed hers as well. Clean restaurant, friendly staff and great food. We will be back!
