I’ve been coming here for years and I love the food. I usually come and have the buffet, for a very good price. natural fresh fruit juices too! yummmm!

This place just keeps getting worse — I’d rather stick my schlonger in a blender than to eat this greasy so called chinese food

Right so… I had ordered from here about a year ago and the food was good. I ordered delivery today through grub hub and there was a bit of a snafu… I had the wrong phone number on my account… okay my bad. The grub hub rep says the delivery person is downstairs and to go outside. I walk downstairs… look outside… no one is there. So I trudge back up to my apartment(third floor mind you) and I tell the grub hub rep no one is there. He calls the restaurant, is put on hold for a ridiculous amount of time, and informs me that he talked to both the owner and manager who then informed him that the driver had returned and they had already delivered the order. This was news to me as I’m sitting here foodless… very disappointed. I get that I messed up by having the wrong number on the account but it really is poor customer service to rudely claim that I had already received my order. I will never order from here again. And I’m still hungry :(

I order for delivery about twice a month whenever I’m in the mood for and when I can’t deal with Panda Express’s long lines. I always order Hot and Sour soup and it’s done very well but wish it would come with small chunks of shrimp like they do in China Town. Next is the Egg Foo Young and it’s always a pleasure trying out the different types but I have to say that their combination Egg Foo Young reminds me when my dad used to drive us to China Town in New York City from Boston, the similar old school flavors. Finally it’s the BBQ pork or char siu is a famous Chinese dish marinated in a honey hoisin sauce, and then roast in oven to charred, savory, and sticky sweet ribs. They manage to maintain consistency in their cooking which is why I keep ordering from Point Dume Restaurant.

BASEDSOLELYONMYDELIVERYEXPERIENCE: After reading these reviews, I was hesitant to even try this place, but it’s the ONLY Chinese delivery even close to my apt. a) I ordered on Eat24(first times for everything). It was simple and convenient. Subsequently, I don’t know what it’s like to phone order with them. b) I received my ordered in 30 mins. c) Ordered shrimp chow mein and kung pao chicken. Both are delicious! The chow mein is a bit greasy, but… overall good. The chicken had the perfect kick and I could have adjusted the spiciness to my preference(or so Eat24 says). d) I am a bit surprised it did not come with a complimentary side of rice like most places do, but it was cheap so I’m not really bothered. I would order there again. I see that the more recent 2013 reviews seem to be positive so I’m hoping that they keep consistent when I order next time.

Easy and cheap! The quality seems fine(havent had anything questionable yet!). The last time I ordered delivery it took them over an hour and a half but eh, it happens. This was my ONLY problem.

This restaurant deserves ZERO Stars. But its required to at least give one. Hate this place!!! I tried to give this restaurant a chance several times. Their food is not bad and not great at all. Ur not gonna miss anything. but their service is the worst!!! If you want to get food delivered, order 2hours before or don’t order at all!!! They take forever and will blame your location for delay. They don’t even apologize for any mistake they did. like forgetting to pack one or two things you ordered. They don’t care to loose your business so might as well not even try. I am done with this restaurant, I hope they go out of business today or tomorrow!!!

I tried sooooo hard to like this place. My Chinese half was begging for a new Chinese restaurant close to home that delivers(which there are practically NONE — but all the Thai food I want at least!). Sure, they may have free delivery, but in terms of delicousness, they absolutely did not deliver. I ordered a basic — Chicken Chow Mein. It wasn’t horrible; I’ll say it was at least halfway decent. And for the price, you do receive a lot of food. For this, I award two stars. I also ordered the Ma Poo Bean Curd, which was by far the absolute worst Chinese dish I have ever had in my entire life. EVER. It tasted like feet cooked in ginger. No joke. And I LOOOOVVVEEEE Bean Curd, I was so disappointed! Moral of the story — don’t order this. Delivery was semi-fast, took about 35 minutes, so that is a redeeming quality at least. But will I ever order from this place again? Probably not, unless I have a giant craving for feet(and not the delicious chicken feet you get at dim sum). On the search for another Chinese delivery place again…

Ok the foods not very good, but they deliver so added star. After many mishaps from here… this is what I’ve decided I like the fried wontons with sweet and sour sauce… Also I enjoy their chicken salad … and sizzling rice soup… Never been impressed with any of their dishes though. but when a girls hung over can you really expect her to jump in the car and drive to Monterry Park for her needed cure? Chinese food… Sometimes a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do… so I order deliverys from here, I’m not proud but I’m still alive

I’m not sure if this review is BIASED, but I had an awful experience here. Food was horrible… The beef in our beef Fried Rice seemed like it was 2 days old, it was very chewy and dark, almost like beef jerky. The fish was at market price, but we ended up paying about $ 40. Aside from that, it’s nasty and dirty lookin’ inside. You’ll walk out feeling sick. Don’t even waste your time checking it out, just close your eyes and run as far away possible. They’ll rob u for every dollar in your wallet. Can you imagine paying $ 16 for rice? You might as well bring in the sack of rice… The owner of this business is SHADY.

NEXXXT!!! I’m not happy with the food but what can you do. I had them deliver some Chinese food to the house instead of going there. Not a fan or will go back. Sorry Point Dume your Dume for a bad review. Order: –salt and pepper squid or shall I say tempura squid with no flavor. –chicken crispy noodle or shall I say where’s the noodle. I know if we were there we would have gotten more noodle for my noodle. –pork chop and spicy salt or shall I say fried pork chop with no spice of a kick –beef with broccoli OK finally something that taste like it. WINNER Pretty sad that a restaurant that has been here for years. I mean years. sucks booty. To bad if you were even good and tasty I would be your #1 customer for delivery since we don’t have a good and cheap Chinese place near us. Thank you for your alright food Point Dume. But no thank you

We ordered from here last night. It was a disaster — the worst Chinese food I have ever tasted. The pan-fried dumplings were the best things and they were just ok. The Sweet and Sour chicken was so dry I had to spit it out. The scallops were bland and not fresh-tasting, and the pork dish was almost inedibly salty. No rice was included. Worst of all, there was a rock or piece of concrete in my food. Lucky I did not break a tooth. NEVERAGAIN!!!

We ordered from this restaurant because we could not find the take-out menu from the place we usually order from, and could not remember its name. So a google search turned up Point Dume. Their website looked very promising, but we should have read the Unilocal reviews before we ordered. The food that was delivered was AWFUL, and I would not recommend it to anyone. Te scallops smelled off, the pork was super salty and gross, and the sweet and sour chicken was only partially cooked. The part that was cooked was cooked to the point of being hard as a rock. And, speaking of rocks… Yes, there was an actual ROCK in one of our items. Not a tiny rock either, but one large only to have certainly made a racket in a wok, if a wok was actually used. How do you do that??? The only impression you can get from a place that offers food this consistently BAD across the board, is that they just don’t care.

I ordered delivery from them the other day. The Cashew Chicken tasted stale. We couldn’t finish it. Either it was stale or the flavor of the sauce was just weird. Then as we were serving the brown rice, we found a bug in the rice. It looked like a small roach. It was so gross. The Beef Chow Mein was okay. But after we found the bug in the brown rice, we threw all the leftover food away. I won’t be ordering delivery from them again.

My roommates and I were looking for someplace to go that was cheap, a sit down dinner for the price of a drive thru. So I went to the always trusty and started looking for places, cheap, close, and that wouldn’t be TOO crowded on a Saturday night around 6:30−7. Chinese food sounded good to all of us, and alas, we ended up at Point Dume. When we first arrived we got our wish of an uncrowded restaurant as there were only two other patrons in the entire space, which usually isn’t the best of signs, but I had already spent my $ 2 on a certificate, we were eating here. The lady who helped us told us we could sit wherever we wanted, and was very sweet. We ordered drinks(3.75 beers!) and perused the menu. They have family dinner specials that are $ 11.80 a person which comes with a shared soup, shared appetizers(and entire platter for just the two of us who ordered the special) and an entrée for each person, and rice. This was a great deal, even if we didn’t have $ 25 off our order. The appetizer was great, it had two ribs, two paper wrapped chicken, two fried shrimp, two egg rolls, and two beef skewers. I was already starting to feel full and then they brought out the soup. I have never had sizzling rice soup, but it was really mild and delicious. It came in a share sized soup holder and we couldn’t even manage to finish it all(even when my other roommate helped out a bit). Then came entrees. I got the Mixed Fried, which wasn’t AS unhealthy as it sounds. It was just wok-fried meats(chicken, shrimp, pork, beef) with vegetables(mushrooms, Chinese broccoli, cabbage) and a teriyaki-like sauce. My roommate’s got the chicken and snow peas and the orange tofu. Not being a huge fan of snow peas, I was really impressed with that dish, the chicken was very tender and flavorful. The orange tofu was also delicious, and had a ton of flavor. By the end of our meal we were all full happy campers, with tons of food ready to be packed up and taken home. However, we didn’t get our food containers for about 25 minutes, and after we got the bill it wasn’t taken for 45 minutes, and finally we left at 9:45. Everything had come out in a timely manner, so it was kind of sad that the bill portion took so long, especially since there were only three tables. Our waitress was very nice, and they did let us split the bill between cash and two cards. At the end, with a beer, my total with tax and tip was only $ 11.50, so despite the wait, it was well worth it, and I would definitely go back again!

The search for good delivery chinese food in Silverlake continues. I came home sick from work today, and really wanted chinese. Obviously I didn’t want to go out, what with the whole body ache I have going. I google places that will *actually* deliver. Point Dume comes up, seems to have a decent rating, and more importantly, delivers. Don’t get the Mongolian Beef. I’m not sure how they cooked it, but it had the texture of a flip flop. Orange chicken was good, and the pork fried rice was decent. Reminded me of home, even. Overall, I won’t be ordering from them again. Guess I should have just gotten off my ass.

Nah. I wouldn’t go back. I wouldn’t have even gone there in the first place if someone hadn’t insisted that we «at least had to try it.» It’s on my block, so, you know, apparently I at least had to try it. Suspicious Warning Number 1: There was no one there. Sure, it’s late afternoon, but still, it’s a big place and there was no one there. And thinking back to the many times I’ve walked past this place, there is rarely anyone there. Makes me think it’s some sort of cover operation… hmm… Suspicious Warning Number 2: Buffet. I am neither a 14 year old in the midst of mega growth spurts or a man. I don’t need to eat until my gullet bursts. Buffets tend to be lame. I’m not talking Sunday Brunch Buffets, those are nice, but restaurants that pride on their buffet… generally, not good. This buffet was not good, not horrible though. The noodles were okay. The eggplant was okay. But most everything else was flavorless or meat heavy. I should have known better, don’t buffet unless you like eating piles of meat. Suspicious After Shock: My tummy hurt. On the plus side, is was fast, which was the main goal in picking a place. real fast. And when school got out and the high school kids swarmed around the side door for their daily Styrofoam to-go containers of grease, they were fenced out of the actual restaurant with a stray booth seat. Gotta love places that don’t let the kids swarm on the inside. Upon seeing this, the mystery of where the kids get the Styrofoam containers that they leave on the sidewalk, in the yards, and in the trees all over the neighborhood, solved. Hey parents, do some parenting and teach your children about a nifty container called a TRASHCAN. thanks.

The menu is surprisingly authentic. Shockingly so. Although I’ve only tried three dishes(hot and sour soup, chow mein, dim dum combo) of which all are pretty standard westernized bullshit dishes(yes ill admit it!), I’m interested in examining the bird’s nest soup and shark’s fin soup. I find it hard to believe some random little silver lake chinese restaurant could carry such things since the last place I had those were in Taiwan. I’d expect to find them in San Gabriel Valley if at all, in true form. Hmm… I will order again– especially since it’s way cheap and they give you a ton of food. But seriously, for those who gave this place ridiculously low ratings, it’s an LA Chinese restaurant. What do you people expect? We aren’t in Beijing.

This place saved me when I was sick with tonsillitis and started eating solid food again. Black bean tofu was soft and flavorful– finally something I could taste after days of nothing! Wonton soup was pretty good too, although I did add a little soy sauce since I couldn’t taste it as much. Also had a mushroom/bamboo shoot dish with brown sauce. not as good as the tofu but still tasty. So thankful they deliver. it took around 40 minutes from the time we ordered off the internet to when they made it to our home a few blocks away. This isn’t fancy Chinese food or the very best value. but for this area it is good. We’re not exactly in SGV here. Update: Love the pork fried dumplings. They remind me of the deliciously greasy ones I used to get in Brooklyn every week. Glad I finally found a replacement.

My whole extended family has been coming here for years. The number 1 item they all agree on ordering every time is the sizzling rice soup. It’s hearty, with big chunks of pork, shrimp, veggies, and toasted rice in a very simple broth. I’m not that crazy about the broth being so simple that it tastes almost watered down, but it’s a solid, filling dish to have on a cold winter night, regardless. I personally like the house special crispy beef, yu hsiang eggplant, and salt and pepper shrimp. They have a tendency to make some of their stir-fried stuff a little too greasy, but hey that’s where the flavor is, right? You can go to Pick Up Bleh or PF McNasty if you’re in the mood for healthy Chinese food. Ugh. The service is kind of spotty. Usually there’s only the 1 server and she’s very kind but can be very absentminded. Sometimes we’re left waiting for way too long for her to take our order or pick up the check while she’s fielding the phone orders or other customers, but she makes up for it with her attention to detail when we finally get her to our table and she checks on our drinks or if we need boxes or whatnot. It’s funny watching the owners’ kids watching a dvd in the corner and running around while we’re waiting for our food. If you’re really hungry around lunch time, try the buffet once to say you’ve tried it because it’s dirt cheap, but keep in mind you get what you pay for. It can be kinda gross, but for around $ 5, you can’t beat the value. We usually just come for dinner or just phone in and pick up our order. Good portions, ok service, and above average food when ordering off the menu.
