I will give you a word of warning that the space here is VERY limited. But if you appreciate the good ol’ «mom n pop» hole in the wall restaurant than Phở Thai Town is the place for you. I was amazed at the simplicity of the menu and how well-priced all the dishes were. Put it this way, the most expensive item on the menu was $ 8 while all the other dishes were $ 6 on average. i had the Thai sausage appetizer which was sweet to the taste complimented with a tangy sauce that was quite light to start out my dinner. I would definitely recommend this dish as an appetizer if you need something to stretch out your stomach. For the main dish i ordered the Pork Pad Ka Pow. The dish came out on a plate with steaming white rice looking fresh as ever. Delightfully spicy with plenty of herbs stir fried into it. I also ordered their their green tea thai tea drink, which surprisingly tastes exactly as the name describes it to be. Very refreshing to see a combination of two drinks that i love very much. My exact rating would actually be 3.5 stars. This is due to the quality of the phở that i tried as well. The broth was very bland and it didn’t taste very much like anything to tell you the truth. I was thankful i had ordered something else on the menu and had only tried some of my friend’s phở order. I expected much better phở for a place that is named Phở Thai Town. Bottom line, my recommendation is to come here for the other dishes other than Phở. Definitley coming back for the Bun noodle dish!

Disappointed. I was looking forward to the phở from all the positive reviews from Unilocal. The phở was flavorless and tasted non-authentic.

Don’t be fooled by «phở» in the name — this place has legit Thai food! The laab, grapow and fish balls are my favorite, they taste like they’re straight from a Thai street food stall in the best way. It’s cheap but seating is limited. Haven’t tried the phở and don’t plan on it, but I’ll definitely be going back for the Thai dishes.

When my friend told me he wanted phở(a Vietnamese dish) while we were driving through a Thai town, I leapt onto Unilocal, eager to show him that Unilocal always delivers. Unfortunately, I think we were led astray this time. Upon arrival, we found a small hole-in-the-wall. My spirits soared; I love hole-in-the-walls. We sat down and our hearts skipped a few beats while checking out the menu. $ 6 for a large bowl… I’d make a Unilocaler out of my friend yet! Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. The owner came over to take our order less than a minute after we say down. We weren’t ready, so we asked for water first. «No, I’m busy. You need to order.» Taken aback by the rudeness, my friend and I asked for another minute. The owner walked away and we exchanged confused looks before burying ourselves into the menus. A few moments later, we ordered. He got phở, I ordered five pork dumplings($ 4). Our food came out almost immediately after. My friend’s phở was a bit skimpy on the meat, but for a $ 6 bowl, it wasn’t bad. I nearly gagged when I bit into a stone cold dumpling though. My default is to give restaurants 3 stars and add/subtract based on my experience. For $ 10, I don’t expect a fine dining experience, but I don’t think it’s ridiculous that I wanted hot food and not-actively bad service. It’s a shame, because I really wanted to love this place.

Great really small casual place to eat. There’s usually parking in the mini mall if not around the surrounding neighborhood. The price is extraordinarily good for the food. Great for anyone wanting some authentic phở, noodles, or rice at an inexpensive cost. The most expensive thing there is around $ 6 if not $ 8. The Beef Pad See Ew(flat noodles) is phenomenal. The phở is hearty and there are condiments on each table to cater to personal spice and flavor preferences. Really nice place to stop by if you’re in the area.

For the people amazed the phở is between $ 4 – 6, the Phở is cheap because the phở is made cheap. Anyone giving this over 3 stars doesn’t know good Vietnamese or Thai food. In other words you get what you pay for. Check my reviews. I rarely rate bad restaurants and the one subpar review I’ve given I felt bad because they just happen to ruin the one dish I ordered. First of all the food here is maybe a 2−3÷5 for Thai or Vietnamese. I ordered the rare beef phở, spring rolls, and pad see ew(which on the menu is spelled incorrectly). The stock was bland, about as bad as a Vietnamese restaurant I had in Nepal to give an accurate description which is to say not good. To even make it flavorful I had to add chili flakes and red pepper sauce. The spring roll and pad see ew were ok. The reason I give a 1⁄5 is the service was flat out rude. I took a girl in a date here, and she commented after its like they didn’t even want us there. That was the perfect description of our time there. We had to serve our own water, we had to ask for chopsticks and napkins after being served our spring rolls, and in the middle of ordering the waiter said, «you are taking too long» and walked away.

Some of the best Phở I have had in LA, made by Thai people. Phở Thai Town makes Thai specialities such as noodles and curries, along with their own twist on the classic Vietnamese phở. Service is friendly and very quick, considering the small staff. For $ 4, I got a healthy portion of noodles, tofu, and veggies in a delicious flavorful broth. They offer two vegan options-tofu, and mixed vegetarian. Ingredients tasted very fresh. This space itself is very small, only able to seat about 8 people max, and they accept cash only. I look forward to returning for more incredible $ 4 Phở, and to try more of their authentic Thai dishes.

Phở Thai Town is one of the best hole in the wall and/or mom and pops restaurant ever! And they serve both Thai and Vietnamese dishes, so what’s not to love? Most of their dishes are $ 4 – 6. Yes, you heard that right! What a steal, especially since I’m used to San Francisco prices. — Nam Neung Spring Rolls($ 4): those crispy egg roll skin really make this dish shine! Definitely a little different, in a good way, compared to other spring rolls. — Pork Dumplings($ 4): nice and crispy on the outside, juicy meat on the inside. — Seafood Rad Na($ 9): they definitely don’t skimp on the seafood here! — Spicy Drunken Noodle($ 6): this dish was a little too salty for my taste. — Phở($ 6): great portions and the broth was on point! The place is small, with 4 – 5 counter seats and 3 small tables. The owners are very nice and fun to chat with. A lot of the people who came in to dine were regulars! That’s always a good sign. :)

Mom and pop shop that deserves your business. Phở was six bucks. Maybe the broth is so-so, but there’s, like, seven or eight sauces on the table to spice it up. Fish sauce, hoisin, sriracha, secret/tasty/green/vinegary sauce, red chili sauce, soy sauce… Ca$h only.

It’s Viet + Thai food without the production. The super bun(6) has a great flavor and felt very refreshing. The meat was ground up, but tasted so good. The pad see ew(6) was delicious, but on the smaller size for the price compared to other places in this area. The pot sticker appetizers(5) were small Trader Joe’s potstickers heated up. Skip it. Humble place with friendly owners — perfect for lunch. I read a review that was stating that this place doesn’t have liquor. Duh. LOL. They didn’t have a bouncer either. Rollin’ my eyes!

Lemme tell you about Phở Thai Town. This place looks and operates like it’s still in Thailand. The parking lot is a clusterf**k — the cars are 2 – 3 rows deep. Looks like a game of tetris out there with the old dude navigating the way. You know the dude. He’s totally legit. If he asks for your keys it’s cool, just give it him. The restaurant looks like it hasn’t seen a deep cleaning or an update since the 80s. Dudes in the front hanging over the counter. Lady in the back is all business. Sometimes dude is in the back cooking. Sometimes lady is upfront taking orders. Whatever. Do we really care about ambiance if you’re getting a $ 4 bowl of phở tho? Prices are 3rd world country cheap. Things will run from $ 2 drinks to $ 6 entrees. Phở is the Lao version of phở. A little heavier, a little meatier, well-rounded, salty and begging for acid. Yes the $ 4 bowl is small but remember we’re overseas where the portions are smaller. Personally I prefer this lady-like bowl of soup. It makes me feel less guilty when I walk over to International Bakery for a ponchik. Use that green sauce, for the love of God. The green sauce is Thai’s answer to Mexican salsa. It’s spicy vinegary. Goes good on everything. Goes great in phở. Pour a little on your spoon and take a sip. You’ll get it. I’ve never seen it anywhere before. I think that lady might’ve made it up. Who cares just eat it. There’s a thing called Green Thai tea. I thought it would be just matcha with milk. Not in this house. It’s green and Thai tasting. I have no idea how the lady made it but it’s good. Tastes floral, a bit sour with the sweet. I do prefer their Thai tea but the Green Thai tea is a unique alternative. I’ve ordered their pad see ew, beef fried rice and chicken basil rice. Like typical Lao dishes it’s heavy handed on the oyster sauce. I say stick with the phở. The food is a solid 4 stars but it’s the price point that keeps me coming back.

Value – 5 stars Service– 4 stars Vegetables-3 stars Ambiance– 2 stars Overall– 3.5 stars With the exception of the phở, which comes with a decent amount of veg, the rest of the rice and noodle dishes I’ve tried need some more quality veg to make them really outstanding. Iceberg lettuce in a shrimp roll on a takeout order just doesn’t say crisp and refreshing appetizer. Their prices are fantastic but sometimes light on the protein and definitely light on veggies. Seafood rice has lots of tasty rice but not much in the way of chopped veg, and just ok in amount of seafood. Stir fried noodle dishes are kinda the same. There’s an option to add extra veg for $ 1… Do it or you will have a carb overload meal. The $ 4 and $ 6 phở are definitely the main attraction here… Broth is pretty subtle but still satisfying. Cash only. Total mom n pop place, super friendly, and definitely nothing fancy. Still worth the effort to try it, dependable cheaper meal, but not the place to go if you only have time for one place in Thai town this week/month.

Discovered this hole in the wall place with stunning delicious food that reminds me street of Thailand. This is a mom and pop place with full flavors that street vendors offer back common folks eat. For someone who like no frill soup, this is the place to be. The broth is a little thick but it has what the idea of the master broth maker’s vision. I find this unique and I will always return to this unpolished jewel that can really shine.

I’ve only had phở here and I was actually surprised at the fact that a Thai/Vietnamese fusion restaurant executed a delicious phở! My bf ordered the beef brisket phở(small) $ 4, yeah $ 4! I ordered the shrimp phở(large) $ 6, yeah $ 6! Cheapest prices I’ve ever seen for phở! The broth was very flavorful, the noodles were just right, and I made sure to slurp it all up! This is a very small place and run by two people, who were also very friendly. They have a counter and four tables to sit at. Don’t forget that they are also CASHONLY. So if you are hungry for that warmth only phở can provide, make your way here!

While hanging out in the area, I started getting hungry and wanted phở. Phở Thai was the first thing that popped up. A cash only, hole in the wall type of spot with limiting seating… its definitely a hidden gem. The owner was so sweet and very responsive from beginning to end. Great customer service. I would definitely recommend this for: hangover food, late-night food, cheap lunch or dinner. With only one dollar sign listed on Unilocal,it’s pretty accurate. My two orders of noodle soup with two Thai iced teas came out to only $ 17. Not bad at all, and all normal sized portions. Thai-iced tea(3⁄5 stars): good, not overpowering sweet like other places. Do not order if you’re a lover of sweet Thai iced tea. Tom Yum Pork Noodle Soup(4⁄5 stars): comforting, savory, and dangerously addicting. I had mine mild spicy and I loved it. I was clearly able to taste the salty blend of peanut crisps, garlic, and green onions-it made the soup taste so good! The noodles were your average soft phở noodles. They could add more minced pork balls to the soup, but overall I left full and happy.

Thai version phở for cheap, with thai food ranging from $ 4 -$ 9. They have small $ 4 or large bowls sizes $ 6. Broth is clean and light but others may think its not as flavorful or watered down. This place is one of those convenient location type of eats since there isn’t a clean broth(phở) type of soup place in Thaitown, east Hollywood and Los Feliz area. Prices and opening times has been changed on their menu. A couple of items have gone up $ 1. They open at 12pm instead. Small hole in wall joint. Small parking lot. Cash only.

This seems to be a very popular place and really is a hole in the wall as described in other reviews. Having only about 3 – 4 tables and a long counter, they serve both Vietnamese and Thai cuisine at relatively low prices. Although, the portions are smaller too so I guess you get what you pay for. I and a friend decided to stop by here to grab a few plates to share. She wanted phở and I had wanted Thai food so this place was perfect since we could get both here. We ended ordering the Special Phở which had the beef brisket, tendons and whatever else is included in this typical dish. In addition, we ordered an appetizer plate of Fresh Spring Rolls and a plate of chicken fried rice. The phở broth wasn’t very flavorful in my opinion which probably means it wasn’t simmering for hours like it’s know to be done. It was a good sized bowl since it was considered the larger bowl on the phở list. I had to add a few of the sauces on the table such as the Hoisin sauce and spicy sauce to beef up the flavor a bit. The noodles also stuck together more than in other places serving phở. The fried rice was decent, just a little bit soggy which could just mean they used the regular fluffier rice they serve with other dishes. I believe rice for fried rice should be cooked with less water if being used so it’s not as soggy but that’s just my thought and I think I’ve seen or heard of it done that way. Otherwise, the flavor was decent and I’d order this again. The spring rolls were just average too. The sauce that comes with it is tasty and really helped because there was just something about it that seemed a little different than the other Vietnamese spring rolls that I’ve had. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it however. It was still alright for the price and I don’t expect amazing flavors here with the price that we’re paying. Overall I’ve decided that it’s a really good place to get filled up on the cheap. I mean, to be able to get dishes at $ 4 is pretty incredible at today’s prices. The flavors aren’t spectacular but they aren’t terrible either so just know that going in. They are located in a small strip mall so parking can be very tight during the peak times. Other than that, the owners are very friendly but know that they will rush you out and discourage lingering after you’ve eaten due to the limited space.
