The phở looked and smelled AMAZING. However, we got the boba. I wanted almond, but I don’t think they understood me and gave me a mango slush type of boba. The tapioca pearls were basically frozen solid and not wonderfully gooshy and round like they should be. I want to go here again and try the phở but the mango boba was not delicious!

I came here with one other person because I was really craving nem nuong spring rolls and there weren’t many places to choose from in LA. The restaurant itself was very clean and service was relatively quick. I ordered a small phở and it ended up being a rather large portion and came with a good amount of meat. The taste was very clean and had a homemade taste to it, which is much better than a lot of the over oily phở places you find in LA. One of my only complaints, which is really a complaint, is that the price difference between the small and large phở is so small that there isn’t much reason to order the small. This is unfortunate if you have a small appetite and wouldn’t be able to finish the large. But, if you can finish it, it’s definitely a good thing!

My friend and I ordered pick up from here on Unilocal. There was a lot of confusion over our order but when we got to the location(pretty hidden) I found out that some of the workers don’t speak English that well. Pretty extensive menu and pretty decent food. My friend got the phở with meatballs and I got some Nem nuoung. Pretty decent for what we paid, but I don’t know if I’d come here to specifically frequent this place. Good if you’re stopping by and craving Vietnamese food. Standard restaurant with decent choices and prices.

I’m Vietnamese and I live in close proximity to Westminister so I am spoiled with having the best Vietnamese food at my disposal. Gigo’s is located close to my work so I now have access to good Vietnamese food wherever I am. I’ve gotten the broken rice dish(com tam) and phở from Gigo’s and they are both really good. My broken rice dish didn’t come with the egg loaf that I love so much but the rest of the components of the dish are delicious. The serving size is generous; I usually save half my dish to eat for dinner otherwise I would go back to work with food coma. The phở here is also really good! The broth is good enough that I enjoy it without any sauce — perfect for a rainy day. TIP: Order the large size phở if you like a lot of broth(and more food in general)!! For 50 cents more, you get WAYYYY more food. Validated parking in the supermarket shopping lot behind the restaurant. CA$H ONLY.

Great Vietnamese food in LA! I’ve found that it’s hard to find a good, legit Vietnamese restaurant around LA that has all the classic dishes. Prices are very affordable(dishes are around $ 5-$ 8, and portion sizes are large), although be sure to have cash on hand since they’re cash only. There’s a parking lot right behind the restaurant that’s $ 5, but it’s kind of small, although other lots and street parking can be found relatively close by. The service is quick and the owners are really nice. The first time I came here a few months ago I was seriously craving some bánh xèo, which I can’t find at even some restaurants in the 626, but the owner made one for me when it wasn’t even on the menu! It was so kind of them to do that(plus, it was delicious), and it is now on the menu which is great! They also serve Vietnamese coffee(iced and hot), along with boba drinks and hot tea. Everything I’ve tried so far I enjoyed and I am definitely making this my go to Vietnamese restaurant in LA.

okay– Having trouble finding it? The door and red menu taped on the door says like«Grand __» something or other, not Gigos. You can only see the Gigo’s sign way above the door if daylight. I deducted a star because the men working there saw us look confused, come and go, and then another lady after us do the same thing– and they never said«What are you looking for? That’s us!» Vegetarians– okay, the ones who cheat and get beef broth every once in a blue moon, when they’re feeling sick: The tofu here, described by another Unilocaler is «Weird». spongy, seems to have been fried at some point, but then maybe frozen and rethawed– as the inside is airy and artificial seeming, no density. I did like the veggie content– broccoli, mushrooms, greens. But i would only come back here for phở if a friend REALLY wanted to. meatball phở: my man said«it was good, broth is tasty, meatball’s well seasoned.» CASHONLY, prices cheap $ 6ish street parking– in Chinatown.

I have been a customer for about 3yrs! Food is ALWAYS consistent, reasonable prices, and free validated parking. My go to dishes: Pork chop with fried egg and rice, chicken phở, charbroiled pork spring rolls, and charbroiled pork vermicelli. ALLSOOOOOGOOD! The owners are so friendly! I love this place!

(Not quite what you were expecting for a 500th review right? Well, sometimes simple is better! Besides, I haven’t been anywhere big time lately anyways). I first came here 2+ years ago in an attempt to find a decent phở place anywhere near DTLA. After all, you can’t be trusting non-Asians to whip up proper phở, so that pretty much eliminates everything in downtown. But hey, Chinatown’s gotta have some proper phở right? So I originally stumbled on this place way back when and thought it was awesome when I was eating it. Unfortunately, I totally forgot to write my review for it. But with the rainy weather hitting us recently, finally got the chance to redeem myself! The hilarious thing is that a small is $ 6.50 and a large is $ 6.89. Not like you are really giving us much reason to get the small right? Got that large #1 and made my assessment based on my typical phở rating system:(1) broth,(2) noodles,(3) meat. With the broth being the most important part of phở, you better deliver or else it’s just not gonna be happening for me. No worries on that here! I thought the broth was fairly high up there for me… not the best I’ve had, but very very good. Absolutely perfect soup for a rainy day! Noodles were a bit sticky, but they had the right texture and chewiness. I did think however that for being a large, the amount of meat offered was not very much. That definitely took it down a notch for me. Service was surprisingly very friendly, which you don’t really expect at an Asian place. Answered all my questions, even told us where we should park so we can get free parking next time! Solid spot, very happy to come back here again!

I came here a couple times for lunch. The phở was amazing! For my more recent visit, I ordered the meat combo with broken rice and it came with complementary phở soup with green onions. The phở soup went well with the rice and the meat combo was delicious. It was pretty fulfilling. I liked the soup so much, I asked for seconds! The price is reasonable.

The best phở in LA! Authentic and tastes homemade. Its seriously so hard to find good phở in LA, but this place offers what you’re looking for in phở. It’s not only the best, but also the cheapest phở in LA($ 5.50 for a small)!! The portion in small is pretty small compared to other phở restaurants where the small usually has huge portions. But not a problem for me because I never even eat half the noodles in other phở restaurants anyways. If you normally almost finish all of your noodles at phở restaurants, I recommend you order the medium or large. I also love that their water is already infused with lime so you can’t taste the tap water :) Gigos has now become my go to phở spot to cure my hangovers! Fyi, you can park in the Ai Hoa(?) supermarket parking lot which is right behind the restaurant; the restaurant will validate.

In general, this place gets four out of five stars. In comparison to the other places in Chinatown, this place gets five out of five. There aren’t many options in Chinatown and most of the restaurants here are subpar at best. So if you find yourself in this part of town than I recommend coming here. The noodles in the phở are softer than that of most phở places, so that may or may not be of interest to you. The meat is rather bland, but the broth is phenomenal. I also recommend getting some boba. The boba has a good consistency and the sweetness hits the spot. Stay away from the milk tea boba, however, it tastes nothing like regular milk tea.

I can only comment on their drinks here, as we ate nearby and probably should’ve gone here instead! We had the pineapple smoothie here and a tea with boba. I’m not sure if the pineapple was artificial flavoring(like most boba shops), but it was quite good. Pretty up there with top smoothies! As for the boba drink, it was just okay. I would say the boba is on the smaller side and the drink was just nothing outrageous. Both were $ 3 after taxes. I believe on the board it says something like $ 2.73. Will be back for the food!

GOOD Vietnamese food is a rarity in Los Angeles, which is why I am so happy Gigo has graced us with their presence! Welcome to DTLA! My friend and I shared the nem nuong spring rolls, filet mignon phở, combination rice plate. My oh my. + spring rolls — If you know anything about socal food, you know about Brodard’s spring rolls. Foodies from far far far away travel to Westminster for those beauties. LA, GUESSWHAT? FINALLY a closer, comparable option! Gigo’s sauce is a little gooey compared to Brodard’s… and the spring roll is not AS crunchy BUT dude… their version is pretty bomb. + filet mignon phở — broth is sooooo flavorful. I’ve had better meat quality in filet mignon phở though, but again the broth. On point! + combo rice plate — Comes with rice, some veggies(cucumber, shredded/pickled carrots, tomatoes, the us’), porkchop, sausage, and an eggroll cut into 3 pieces. EVERYTHING, like literally everything was perfect. ESPECIALLY the porkchop. Omg, texture, flavor… I think I can say that this is the best viet rice place I’ve had to date. The prices went up since they first opened so the advertisements are not accurate. Still very affordable though! Check came out to about $ 25 sans tip. CA$H ONLY. Parking is $ 5(lot behind the restaurant), no validation.

popped by for a quick lunch wasn’t expecting anything but was pleasantly surprised a tiny mom-and-pop shop in chinatown for 6.50 you can get a bowl of phở/bun or broken rice plates my gf had the phở tom(shrimp phở) the broth was good but wish they added more shrimp i had the bun with sausage and eggroll the eggroll wasn’t actual eggroll more like two long twisted pieces of fried wonton skin the sausage was tasty the portion size was generous cash only free parking in the back(?) we ended up finding parking on the street but apparently, they’ll validate for up to an hour with a $ 10 min purchase

A small, lovely little hole in the wall ma n pop Vietnamese restaurant. Walking distance for me but I don’t see a parking lot. Street parking available for sure and upon reading Crystal P.‘s review, it seems as though there’s a validating parking lot that offers an hour free. Check out her review for address and details. Pricing is very fair and reasonable. Super worth it when you compare it to their portions. You will leave full and satisfied :) Food: Super yummy! I’ve tried their phở and also their pork plate that comes with egg and salad(See photo). Service: Every time I come it’s usually older people who are working. Assuming they might be the owners or family but they’re always so kind. Haven’t been here in a while, but I just might go back again soon when the weather cools down here in Cali for some phở!

This place is small and quaint. Looks kind a like a hole in the wall restaurant, but the food is pretty decent. We walked in we will quickly seated. The choices on the menu are not significant, but it is enough for a small bit of choice. I ordered the charbroiled meet over the dry rice noodle or the vermicelli. It didn’t have much taste, I think when they washed the lettuce, or the noodle, I don’t know which one, it diluted the taste. The sauce they gave me was flavorful enough, but the entire dish was just okay. I would not order this again. The other dish, the broken rice with pork, was pretty good. It had an egg on top of it as well. The flavor of it was quite tasty. Next time I will order that one.

My fav phở place! They validate parking = 1 hr free parking at Ai Hoa Market(860 N Hill St) Phở is one of my favorite meals. There was one point in my life where I ate it everyday for a month. So trust me when I say I’ve tried a lot of different phở’s. This place is the most memorable. Their broth is special, their noodles are nice and soft, and their meat is awesome. I almost don’t want too many people to find out about it because I don’t want it to get crowded. Other people go to Phở 87, but this is my go-to phở place. Their«filet mignon» phở which I think is basically just regular rare steak phở is soooo good. They of course provide the usual beansprout + onions on the side. It’s $ 6.50 for a large, $ 5.50 for a regular. The bowls are smaller than most phở places so choose wisely. They have drinks & other food their too, but I haven’t tried anything but the phở. I’m one of those people who only eat phở at phở restaurants. Anyway, you will not regret coming here. Yea the service isn’t the best, but it has that authentic mom/pop small business feel. pros: phở, free parking, phở, best phở I’ve ever had, «A» grade health rating cons: not the most friendly servers but it doesn’t affect your meal at all Conclusion: come here & try for yourself. Everyone has their own preferences, and this restaurant = crystal’s favorite!
