O m G~ ! They have THE best coffee ever with reasonable pricing. They use homemade syrups and they have every type of milk you can ask for. The Asian guy who operates the truck knew what he was doing and was super friendly! Great barista!

Oh my gosh, Elabrew totally made my wedding!!! They came during the last two hours of my wedding reception and served the BEST coffee my guests and I have ever had. They not only use organic ingredients, but they are competitively priced and know how to serve professionally prepared coffee. For example, they know the difference between microfilm and dry foam. Mmmm!!! Everyone said it was a great idea, and a surprise to top off a great night. There’s nothing like a pick-me-up to get back on the dance floor, or to take with them on the drive home. The employees were very nice, in a edition to talented, on time, and kept a clean area to serve coffee. I should also mention, Joy, the person I was in contact with for the truck, was very responsive, clearly(and quickly) shared pricing, and was able to accept my credit card info over the phone. I appreciated her flexibility immensely. Plus, nothing will top the memory of seeing my 79 year old grandma on her tippy-toes, with her fingers on the window sill, ordering from the coffee truck. She had a blast!

The Elabrew Coffee Truck is a godsend! With Angel’s Flight still out of commission, the stairs to G&B isn’t fun. And I don’t want to be stuck with Starsucks. The truck frequently comes to Bunker Hill, in front of Cal Plaza. Elabrew also has two storefronts, one in DTLA and another in Santa Monica. They use roasts from Ritual, Kuma, and Ceremony. The Hazelnut Iced Latte is perfect on a sunny afternoon! It’s not strong though so add an extra espresso shot if you want a kick.

I noticed that the truck hasn’t been around California Plaza for a few months so I decided to call them and ask. Apparently, they’ve been touring fairs and doing mostly private catering. No estimate as to if or when they’ll be back. Boo… Fortunately, two new coffee shops have opened up downtown. One is Barista Society(in the US Bank bldg — 2nd level of the Spanish steps across from the library) and the other is G&B Coffee in the Grand Central Market(across from Angel’s Flight).

great espresso, pour-overs, excellent cookies, & always awesome customer service. way better than Groundworks across the street. Groundworks is a great place to buy Hario coffee supplies, they’re a wholesaler. Filters for the V-60 at Groundworks won’t be found cheaper anywhere else!

I live over in the Arts District, and as such, I have a pretty dang good selection of coffee right around my apartment. So you can imagine how much of a bummer it is to try and find coffee around the office – an area where Starbucks is still considered quality coffee. Imagine my surprise when, perusing around Cal Plaza one day, I noticed this little van making nothing but coffee, and decided to take a chance. This place is amazing! For anymore who enjoys quality coffee(i.e. Handsome Coffee Roasters, Intelligentsia, etc.), you need to try this place now. UPDATE: I’ve been back at the office for a few days now, and I haven’t seen this van since. What gives? Bring my coffee back!

E is for the elaborately swirly latte art that the cool tattooed barista gave me. L is for a little brown truck with a big powerful dream of delivering delicious coffee. A is for the atmosphere of being parked on top of a large bridge over downtown. B is for believing in the power of foamy hemp milk. Hemp latte is good latte. R is for a reasonable Unilocal deal: check in, get one free. E is for espresso. I didn’t have one, but I hear theirs is good! W is for weather. What’s more perfect compliment to any overly air-conditioned office building than an even colder iced drink this Summer? Gooo Elabrew!

Really good coffee(uses Stump Town) — I had the latte — didn’t need to add any sugar since the coffee was good in itself and wasn’t too bold, strong or bitter like Starbucks so it’s probably easier on the stomach too. Even tasted a hint of chocolate in there. You will spend $ 4 on a cup but it’s a nice luxury treat once in awhile! Went here after lunch on Thursday and truck was located outside of Cal Plaza. If you check in on Unilocal they offered a free cappucino or latte! Too bad I didn’t know that until I wrote this review :)

AWESOME coffee truck that sets up at various businesses downtown. The guy who runs it is so nice and helpful! I stopped by here after seeing it parked in front of my building and tried the vanilla latte– WOW, probably the best one I’ve ever had. I am a Starbucks lover but Brew may have just changed my mind. I love this concept and the truck is set up until well into the lunchtime hour for that afternoon boost!

I drink different brands of coffee and find the version served at Brew to be smoother and milder than Peets or SBUX. The vanilla soy latté would be my favorite at Brew because it’s served at the right temperature and has enough soy to give you a creamier coffee but still keep most of the flavor. Cappuccino would be my next choice. Also the caffeine content seems less because I don’t get any jitters like I do with Peets(which is bolder than Starbucks). The folks are friendly and prompt with service.
