El Pollo Loco

The food is good. The manager is nice to you if you can speak spanish. If not. he pretty much acts like you are annoying him. The rest of the staff is great! But when i see the manager taking orders i go somewhere else.

Saw a roach climbing up the wall today by the counter and the manager said oh we always call the exterminator if we see them …(like It was a regular noontime occurrence) then… she takes the broom and sweeps the roach off the wall and onto the food prep counter right into a container but then was unable to take the roach out… she was looking in the chicken and broccoli and the beans for a good while and eventually stopped looking… ya…chew on that…

Unless you come by foot, get dropped off or use Über– don’t plan on finding a parking spot. Westwood is horrible for parking these days

The employees are dishonest. We showed a worker a Pollo Loco coupon and the worker said we could not use it So we ordered an all white meat family dinner to go which was cheap enough
We read the coupon and there were NO restrictions. We showed it to the manager and he said we could use it. But he said you need to order and use it at the same time when putting in an order. We told him what happened and he asked his employee if we showed him the coupon. The employee said NO! What a liar!
We told the manager to look at the surveillance tapes to prove he lied. In any case we did get a free tostada which was NOT very good anyway
The food we brought home was good and what we expect for a simple dinner to watch some NCAA march madness but the liar and the parking make this a spot I would not go to again

This place is dirty. You can find a swarm of fruit flies in the corner closer to the restrooms. The chicken here is small; other locations give bigger sized chicken. It’s noticeably lower quality at this location. They still have unlimited horchata though!

I called to place a order, and they had a terrible attitude. I still placed the order for delivery and waited for 1 hour. I called to check the status of my delivery, and they told me that they didn’t have my order and hung up in my face!!! Please don’t go to this food chain because they don’t respect their customers!!!

I love El Pollo Loco, but this location is THE WORST. I cant believe they are still in business. Or that at least the Corporate offices haven’t gotten involved. Worst service ever. Delivery is a joke. (expect a solid two hours — and that’s with several calls). This is not just based on one bad experience. Again, I love El Pollo Loco, and unfortunately this is the closest one to me, so every now and then I give in and order. EVERY time I regret it. Delivery — They just won’t show up. They’ll just decide its not worth their time. You’ll call and ask whats going on, they will put you off and TWO HOURS later, when they feel like it they’ll show up. Pick up as just as bad. They pretend to take your order so its ready when you get there, but they don’t. Don’t even bother. The only real option is going in, placing an order and waiting for it. Which would be fine, if the location wasn’t so janky and gross. Ever heard of maintenance? Its gross. It sucks because if they were more capable they’d get tons more business. Get your sh*t together!

Una estrella y creo que es demasiado por que el servicio fue de lo mas desagradable el camarero (SALVADOR) es de lo mas mediocre y falta de respeto no se como tienen ese tipo de gente trabajando muy mal pero muy mal servicio no les recomiendo para nada este lugar !!!

This is by far one of the worst El Pollo Loco locations in Los Angeles. Though the cashier is friendly, the manager does not care AT ALL about customer service. After placing my to go order (he was the one preparing my order), he stops to talk to the cleaning staff, goes back to the food area, takes a break, and proceeds to take a call. When he finally gets back to prepare my order, he messes up! I inform him and he throws up his hands, takes the ingredients out and throws them on the floor. I request a refund. Bad example of management.

Convenient location… great food… great service!

I am not sure what all the complaints are about; from crawling roaches to hairs from unmentionable parts of the body. I have been eating here for years and did not have a problem. Maybe the imagining of filth is worse than the actual dirt that may be out there.
This is a affordable place to eat so don’t expect 5 star treatment and conditions. I have often said El Pollo taste better then most Hoity toity places that charge a lot of money and give very little food on top of everything else.
Case in point was Curtis Stone’s Maude. Is the dinner at Maude better than El Polo? Maude is 25 times pricier and a million times more impressionable then El Pollo. Who even dares to say El Pollo is better then Maude. Maude is adventurous and has all the unnecessary complexity that leads to an unsatisfied and up set stomach. There you have it. El Pollo is cheaper, better and I do not get an upset stomach.

This is the worst el pollo loco in Los Angeles !!! Always smells bad and the customers service is terrible do yourself a favor and don’t come to this location!

Time and again we have been sent home with an incorrect order. There is no parking for this location so any attempt to go back and rectify is way more trouble than it’s worth. The staff is consistently incompetent and service is perfunctory at best.

Me: Hi! Is your chicken free-​range?
The cashier: *looks at me crazy*
His coworker Salvador: Yes, of course it is!
Me: Really? Yay :) You wouldn’t lie to me would you Salvador?

quality fast food. I work in Westwood and eat out about 3 times a week and this place is my #1 go to spot. I do recommend calling ahead of time for anyone ordering a «boneless skinless chicken breast» (dieting is tough) if not then they will tell you there is a 30 minute wait. Ruben and the gentleman manager are absolutely wonderful. they go above and beyond with customer service for a fast food restaurant .don’t believe the negative reviews… I find those hard to believe.

Love El Pollo Loco, but this location SUCKS!
The restaurant reeked of roach spray and it was a 90+ degree day with no air conditioning and the service is just mediocre on a good day.
On a more positive note, it’s a quick lunch.

OMG I ordered a 3 piece meal with two sides and then there was a HUGE COCKROACH crawling across the floor.
I initially liked this place because it wasn’t crowded and the layout of the floor plan is enormous, but the service was a little bad (cashier made me scoop my change after I already counted???) and also the cockroach.
Service was fast though and food always delicious.
If not for the roach and the cashier’s lazy ways, I would give this place a full 5 stars because everything else was excellent.

Hmm not sure why there’s so much hate for El Pollo Loco.
Service: When I went (Sun lunch) the service was GREAT! The young woman working was super helpful and someone (who looked like the manager) personally delivered my food to me.
Food: For a «Fast food» restaurant, the food is very fresh and not doused in grease and fat. The ingredients seem fresh and normal (unlike other fast food chain restaurants) and I can get full without feeling sick/​tired/​gross.
Parking: Street parking isn’t bad (if you can find it) and there’s parking garages all around. Not super cheap, but not horrible either.
Ambiance: Super large restaurant with plenty of booths. Part of my 5 star review is because I stayed after my meal to study for a few hours and didn’t get any complaints. May seem odd but I kind of prefer to study here.
I’ll be back!

Walked in to order and they were out of chicken. Huh? This is a chicken place and they are out of chicken. Workers look unsanitary. Really? Out of chicken? 10 min wait is unaceptable.

I had only been to this El Pollo Loco once. It used to be a bank before, which is why it’s so dang fancy with the marble on the outside. The food is meh because it’s fast food. What can you expect. I did find myself ordering twice after I devoured the first tray with my friends. Hah good stuff El Pollo Loco. Although I may never return, it was fun.

Used a coupon for the 3-​piece (fire grilled chicken) + 2 sides (I chose flame-​grilled corn and mashed potatoes) + small drink for $ 6 coupon there today.
Yes, they are a little «slow» getting the food to you but it takes time to really get you hot food (pretty sure they take this time to reheat pre-​cooked food, but that’s what I expect them to do).
They really did their best to fill up the tiny sides containers to the top. Takes effort to do this carefully without overspilling when closing the lid. Thanks!
Came with only two small tortillas (I got corn).
The three pieces of chicken I suppose are «small» but what do you expect for such a low price? Plenty of meat.
Everything tastes great, though the chicken is a tad salty for my taste.
Gross out moment: The soda I got had a slight oily film floating on top. I know most of the kitchen is covered in chicken grease so it’s really easy to cross contaminate oil into things when refilling the soda machine, but it’s still really disturbing to see oil in the soda even if it’s just a little.
I thought the service was fine. Alfonso was still taking my order with a smile even though the staff were clearly prepping to close for the night. He apologized politely when he told me they were out of Spanish Rice. The woman who packed my food was also polite.
This place is okay, except for the CUSTOMERS who were just chilling there when I went. I felt like I was being watched with hostility. Maybe because they were watching me because I was the only customer making a purchase? It was 9pm and the place was rather empty except for these customers. Made me uncomfortable to be standing there waiting for my food while being watched.
If I have second thoughts about coming back – especially during the evening – it’s because of the hostile customers. Okay, and maybe the oily soda.

There is slight line at times, but I do notice that they have 2 or 3 registers going. The wait is never more than 4 – 5 minutes which seems acceptable. I personally like my chicken well done. Some places do not like preparing their food well done since it can lead to over-​cooking. Howver, here when I asked for well done it came out perfect.
Everything was great and I notice they had a worker going around passing mints asking if they can get the customers anything which was a nice touch. This El Pollo Loco was well maintained and clean. I also enjoy their salsa bar, it didn’t look messy with spilage but organized. The only reason why I give 3 stars is because I feel the pieces are too small. The size of the thigh they give out seems ¹⁄₃ of what a thigh should be. The leg seemed on the small end as well but the creast was just-​right.
I would recommend this location, nothing stands out but it does live to your typical El Pollo Loco standards.
