Slow/poor service, ordered two different dishes neither were available and took 10+ minutes to notify us and the restaurant was very cold.

Our last meal there was gross, nowhere near the quality we had the year before. Heard they closed soon afterwards.

I had an excellent experience. I had the lobster bisque, then duck with wild rice. The duck was ever so slightly overcooked, but it didn’t detract from the texture or flavor. The waiter was kind enough to give my regards to the chef as well. The lobster bisque was a delight, spot on in every way. As for price, it was about $ 100 for two people, no alcohol. If I were to come in for just the lobster bisque for lunch, I think it would be an affordable advent.

Go Kelly Go! I am shocked to see such low stars for this place. I will agree that from the outside it looks like a typical Irish dive… I mean bar but once inside you have a whole new experience. It is sort of a nice BAR and then a restaurant. I came here with a Groupon/Living Social because I had always wanted to try them out. There menu has some really different things on it that you would not get at a beach side restaurant so I was intrigued. I skipped the appetizer and ordered the Lobster Bisque soup because it was cold outside. I was pleasantly surprised that it tasted so East coast. Good Job! For my entrée I ordered Sand Dabs which were pretty yummy. The nin-com-poop I was with ordered the filet mignon, he said he loved it, yadda, yadda, yadda… he was a bad mannered troll… and now back to what I thought about the food. Everything was really good and I even topped it off with a dessert of which I can’t remember because it’s been a while. My over all experience was horrible… Oops I’m sorry that was my hobbit of a date… Let’s try this again. My overall experience was GREAT! The night I was there they had a wonderful piano player and singer which really made the evening nice. I always think it is nice to have a little music that is not overbearing while you eat. I do have to say if you try them out with a Groupon/Living Social you will have to be mindful what you order as to not go waaay over and beyond what it covers. For me not a big deal, because I enjoyed the food so much! I can see myself going back here!

Hopefully this place changes owners. Food lately has been slow and cold. This place was a top place to go to years ago. Don’t go. Over priced.

This is my favorite steak house in the area. This is a classic old fashioned steak house. Yes the athmosphere is old school(big leather booths) as is the menu but that is what this place is about. The best thing about Kelly’s is that they know how to cook a steak. The steak has a nice sear outside and has great chargrilled flavor. The steaks are good quality and tasty. The prime rib is also outstanding. The price is a bit high but not out of the ordinary for a well cooked and seasoned steak. If you are looking for flavor, Kelly’s is far superior to nearby chain restaurants(Outback, etc). The service is always good and efficient. Servers are always friendly to us and have never had any issues. Athmosphere is private from the high booths. I think it is a nice place to have dinner. I also like the live piano music. We got a Groupon or similar deal and wow what a deal. We paid $ 60 for a $ 120 dinner. No menu restrictions. same great service. same great food. Finally splurged on the bone in porterhouse and it was delicious.

Is it just me, or did I just walk right into the Deep South OC? Because I was the only woman of color last night, and a young one at that! I damn near had an anxiety attack because I was getting the nasty evil eye from the old white folks! Like they were expecting me to babysit their grandkids or be their caretaker! LOL With that rant being said, the food is pretty delicious. Kelly’s specializes in retro dishes(Steak Diane, Oscar-style steak, Oysters Rockefeller) and prime rib. I’m not a prime rib kind of gal, but the Kelly Cut was so tender and amazingly delicious. My BF’s Steak Diane was very tasty; it was cooked tableside: D Kelly’s reminds me so much of Taylor’s Steakhouse in LA. Service was a bit iffy at first, but it got better as the evening wore on.

Dark and dank – but great food. Poor and slow service, but again, great food. Would I do it again? Yes, but not with the obvious choice of so many other finer establishments with equally good food, a better ambiance, and better service.

I would give this place a 5 star for food, but seriously the discrimination has me leaving a 1 star for this place. I will NEVER go back. My friend and I decided to go to dinner here with a coupon(still spent over $ 100 on our meal). We were told it was going to be a 40 minute wait for a table, so we went to the bar where we proceeded to wait for 15 minutes for a drink. Finally when the bartender came over to take our order(was not busy by the way and I’ve been a bartender for 10 years) he was rude and dismissive. We waited over 90 minutes before we finally got a table, and when we got to the table we weren’t given menus. I had to beg the busser to give us a menu after we waited for 10 minutes. I don’t know if it was because we were the youngest in the restaurant(early thirties), if it was because we are two women(they thought we were lesbian), or if it was all my tattoos but I have never been treated as such a lesser citizen. Ridiculous. Next to us were wasted USC fans(they were playing the game on the big screen) who were being taken care of fantastically. Little did the server know that we both make a ton of money and could have taken care of him. WEAK! I have worked in the service industry for over 15 years and understand the business, there is no excuse for the way we were treated. AVOIDATALLCOSTS unless you are a white middle-aged asshole. Then you will be treated like royalty!!!

I picked up a livingsocial for $ 40 in food for lunchtime. This was a restaurant I had driven by tons of times, but had never tried, so why not? The atmosphere is upscale, and romantic. We could have easily been sucked into a mid-day cocktail hour… the kind where it is dark and quaint on the inside of the restaurant, and bright and sunny outside… and you can lose track of time, and end up having to take a cab home at 2:00 in the afternoon :-)(I am pretty sure this would have happened if we didnt have to pick up kids from school). My husband had a burger with truffle aoli, and I had a chicken dish with rice pilaf and grilled veggies. The food was amazing, and so was the service. We will defintiely be returning!

I ate here when they were offering the Groupon Deal… Big mistake. The «bottomless» champagne… they never filled our glass. We had 2 glasses of cheap champagne for $ 20… The staff was nice, however, we waited almost TWOHOURS for our food… they ran out of bread while we were waiting, so they gave us crackers. Once we got our food, it was cold, greasy, and disgusting. DONOTCOMEHERE.

I have to start out with my name is Kelly, and I have always wanted to go here because of the name, LOL Anyway, got the groupon deal the other day and my husband and I decided to go the same night, just this past Friday night(sept. 28) Food– Gross Service– Horrible Atmosphere– Great Since we didn’t make reservations we had to wait 40 minutes, No problem what so ever, totally understandable. Went to the bar and hung and had a few drinks, our bartender Sean was great. Figuring this is the kind of service we were in for and was very pleased. When we got a table, we were given a wine menu and that’s it, About 15 – 20 minutes later a waiter came by and asked how we were doing, we told him we didn’t even have menus yet He apologized and handed us two menus and walked away. Well my husband got a lunch menu and I got a dinner menu(and it was 9:30 at night) So we saw a woman who worked there and my husband tried giving it to her and telling her about it, and she gave him a dirty look and kept walking. After a while the waiter came back, we told him about the groupon deal and asked if anything was off limits, the waiter said only the Lobster. So We decided on the porterhouse. When the waiter came back finally we told him the porter house, he said oh you can’t get that. So we asked if we could get our appetizer while we decide on a main course. We decided on the calamari. The waiter told us they are out of it, we asked for two other appetizers and… you guessed it, they were out of that too. So my husband likes Escargot and I don’t so I said I will get a salad and he could have the escargot. The escargot came out, and no salad. We asked for more crackers to go with the pâté they give out at the beginning of the meal… they were out of crackers. About a half hour later my salad came out, extremely wilted and limp, the waiter had the pepper mill in his hand and put the plate on the table then walked away with out asking if I wanted pepper. Then as soon as he left he came back with our dinner?! My husband got the New York steak and twice baked potato, I had a bite of his steak, it was really flavorful. I got the prime rib Kelly’s cut that came with creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. My prime rib, even though I asked to be cooked medium was medium rare, which is what I normally get but I am pregnant and want to stay way for the raw meat. My husband asked for his steak medium rare and it came out… you guessed it medium. The creamed spinach was absolutely disgusting and cold, and I LOVE creamed spinach. The mashed potatoes were cold as hell. I took one bite of each and just ate my steak. So for wanting to go to Kelly’s since I was a little girl and finally getting to go, I was so sad and disappointed beyond. I honestly wish I never went, because in my mind this place was amazing. P. S. The cover band(duet) was really really good. We enjoyed them very much.

Wellllll,… Lets just say that Micheal ended my relationship with Kelly’s before it even started. I was dumbfounded at the disrespect and terrible customer service that my friend and I received just for walking in and asking for a table for 2. He was extremely rude to, not only me and my friend, but to a person that called while we were standing there waiting to be greeted, as well as a family that came in after us. After dealing with this«ball of personality», we decided to simply leave, rather than patronize a business that clearly doesn’t value customer service. Kelly’s gets 4 thumbs down.

I don’t know why I thought this was an Irish bar, like EJ Malloy’s. It’s way upscale and quiet. The bisque was great. I don’t like places without a drinks list… this place really chaps my ass like the sky room insanely good food then cruddy service why would they think one bartender can handle an entire lunch crowd or happy hour crowd? they skimp on the hostess and bussers… then you see management counting liquor bottles. get out of those flip flops, rachel, and assist the bartenders who time after time go out of their way to do what they aren’t required to do. look. i know having a restaurant is tough, especially in this economy. but to see two managers chatting it up while the(late arriving) hostess is on her smart phone makes me 1. over tip the bartender and 2. make me not want to visit again shaking my head also. how can you ever be out of crab? or pom? even monin pom? apparently the managment is so focused on the alcohol they forgot to stock the rest of the restaurant. smh…

This place is from another time — dark wood paneling, dim lighting, old timey booths. My friend had a Groupon so we splurged and got every appetizer on the menu except the escargot — plus French Onion Soup to start. The highlights for me were the homemade potato chips, the Filet Mignon steak bites and the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail. The clams were a lot of work for not a lot of food — the same reason I don’t like crab legs. But the garlic toast that came with the clams was good!

I had a groupon for 30.00 that I could use for lunch or brunch. My partner and I went for lunch and because we were going out for dinner too, we decided to split an entrée. To start, I ordered the french onion soup. It was good, nice flavor and not too salty. The portion was small for 7.95. For the main, we ordered the fish and chips. It was a large portion, 4 pieces and a large pile of fries. The flavor was a little lacking though, it did need some salt. We both didnt like the tarter sauce. It was really thin and tasted strongly of horseradish. It didnt have any relish in it, in fact, I wasnt even sure it was tarter sauce. The colelsaw was strange too, kinda bland and one note in flavor. It needed some vinegar. The fish plate didnt have any lemon either. We were served some bread after asking and we had to ask again for butter. All in all, the total was 31.43. I had to pay 1.43 plus tip. I paid 15.00 for the Groupon. I guess it was worth it, but I wouldnt eat there if I didnt have a groupon.

I’ve been a regular customer at Kelly’s for the last six years. Its old school atmosphere generally attracts a much older demographic, but I think it is the best steakhouse in the Long Beach area because they select great quality meat and know how to cook a steak to your order. They were acquired by a new owner this past year, and I had a steak dinner not too long after and was disappointed by the quality of their side dishes. Though this last time I ordered the sides were delicious. Expect to spend $$$ on dinner, but if you want something lighter on your wallet, you can sit at the bar and order off the bar menu. This is a FULL bar, and they know how to make a stiff drink! Piano entertainment 7 nights a week.

Absolutely fantastic! I was just in for the first time since their remodel and I like what they have done to the place. Although there are only a few changes, they are for the better. They knocked out that wall between the front door and the bar and opened it up. The piano is a nice touch. It wasn’t too loud to where you could not hear your conversation. Food was very good. We started with the pâté and their seafood salad, both of which was not a disappointment. I had the prime rib with the twice baked potato. The meat was seasoned to perfection and a bit on the rare side since I ordered mediuam rare, but that is OK. I also want to say that the service was excellent from the bartender to our server. Our server was an older gentlemen who was very personable and took good care of us. The way it should be. It’s a little pricey, but worth it. Definitely good for special occasions.
