The Small Café

We came here to try out a new [to us] breakfast establishment in Long Beach and this one happened to have zero wait. We sat right away and the service was friendly.
Note this place is cash only.
We ordered the cinnamon French toast and the corned beef hash and eggs. Unfortunately the food was not that great, so the no wait was not quite worth it. The French toast was good, definitely tasted like a cinnamon roll but was not as good as we had hoped. The corned beef was good but the problem was the potatoes. The hash browns were gooey. When I picked up my fork you could actually see a line of what looked like slime. I could not eat them. I just ate the corned beef on the toast. They gave me their house made salsa to add some flavor, but it could have benefited from some spice. I was really disappointed because I love hash browns. On a positive note the eggs were cooked perfectly, hopefully they were just having a bad potato day…

Delicious /​great service!!!

Visited The Small Café this week with my boyfriend. I was very pleasantly surprised! I love breakfast and always thoroughly enjoy finding a treasure like this café especially since it was a very late breakfast, aka Lunch. It is a small place so I could see how it could get crowded very quickly. We found seats at the counter and were quickly greeted by a lovey young lady. We ordered pancakes & French toast, both were great and large portions. I have to say I am a avid Starbucks drinker and their coffee was BETTER! Yes, I said it, better than Starbucks. That was the cherry on the top. Thank you ‘Small Café’ I will be returning.

The servers are courteous, they’re always making sure you’re ok, the food was tasty and came out fast! Prices are great, they have a good selection of food for the whole day. Good weekly specials.
I recommend it and will be coming often myself

Best eggs Benedict I’ve ever had. My daughter had the super spud and was also very tasty. Waitresses are super friendly, very on point with refills, etc. food is good only bad side is its cash only. Definitely will be back again though

Stopped in for breakfast this morning at The Small Café, which is cash only.
I got the country omelet, hash browns and sour dough toast and was waited on by Yesica.
The food was good, the service was great and the free Wi-​Fi was fast.
I’ll be back!

This place has amazing food, whoever is in the back cooking knows what they’re doing and has mastered their craft. We always come here for the Special Spud (delicious loaded hashbrowns) and the chocolate chip buttermilk pancakes, literally to die for.
Don’t come here expecting the waitresses to come check on you or remember anything you ask for however. Expect rudeness and a bad attitude. Even when this place is empty, the waitresses can’t find time to stop gossiping and give you any attention. It’s alright though, because now your bill will be lower without that undeserved tip.

Just moved to Naples neighborhood and I was looking to find something near by and delicious.
This place definitely hit the spot! I had the breakfast special — I chose egg whites, bacon, and French toast.
I also ordered a side of hash browns. Food tasted good, not much sitting space so I wouldn’t recommend a big crowd /​party, staff was not the friendliest, but could be because they were really busy.
Nonetheless, I will go back. :)

The food is good, especially the pancakes and special spud.

The food is pretty good but the service could be a lot better. The girls working seem more interested in texting and gossiping among them than on checking on their tables. When we first walked in, it took them a while to get to us even though they were just standing there talking to each other. The server never checked back on us after dropping off the food either. Seems like the place is lacking on the service.

I had visited Schooner or Later which was packed and 1hr½ wait, so not having the patience to wait I left, as I was driving I notice The small Café. The food was delicious. The portion size was decent. The service was great. It’s a small café with outdoors seating, that’s if you like flies and dogs. I would visit again. Indoor eating for me only.

This tiny little café has been here forever. For many years it was known as Russels. I was impressed with all of the four and five star reviews so I’ve had it bookmarked. On Labor Day we were looking for someplace to have breakfast and of course Schooners was packed, so we drove over the bridge and into the small strip mall to try out The Small Café. We were thrilled to be able to walk in and be seated immediately .
The service was fantastic and the food was even better. My husband had an omelette that he was quite pleased with and opted to upgrade his side from potatoes to fruit. I was in an eggs Benedict kind of mood, and man, they do these eggs justice here. Perfectly poached eggs, on a very nicely browned ham slice, and without a doubt the best hollandaise sauce that I have ever had. It was clearly made from scratch, and had a nice kick of cayenne pepper to it.
As previous reviews cautioned, this place is cash only, but there is a BofA ATM right next door if you run short.
We will definitely be back.

This place has the customers needs on point! I’ve been going here for a few years and have never been disappointed. You think bias, I think not.
Here’s a café that has great specials with the ability to order some comfort food and maybe your own creation. They have catered to my needs with wanting to trying something new every time during the breakfast rush.
The staff is always kind to customers, even while buzzing around on the weekend rushes to make sure no one is left unattended. It’s not about me when the place provides water bowls for your pets that come along for the Neighborhood feel good spot. I mean, who doesn’t feel good after a stroll around Naples Island?

Was here for breakfast and had the banana nut pancakes. They were so good and loaded with bananas and nuts. I would definitely order them again. I came back for lunch and had a tuna sandwich piled with veggies that was really good as well. My server was jenny both times and she was really sweet each time. Overall a good experience at this café.

Was in Belmont Shore this week with the family and wandered into this gem for dinner. We were seated right away in this small (believe the name) but comfortable restaurant. My dad and I ordered the cheeseburger and my mom ordered a Chef salad with cheddar instead of swiss. Each was delicious. We found out later that the cook uses the burger recipe from the restaurant that was there before and that the salad dressing was made from scratch. We will definitely be coming back!
Tip: After finishing, take a walk around Napels to walk off your food.

I love this place! They always have great food and the staff are very nice. Bring cash! No credit cards taken.
This place also gets very busy during the weekends so you may have to wait but it is so worth it.

Just stopped in to this super cute café. The best food and extremely friendly service. I had the homemade soup and it was delicious. I can’t wait to come back for breakfast !!

Service was great! Popeye burger with salad. Best burger I’ve had in a long time. So good!!! Cash only though but there’s a BofA ATM 30 feet away…

I find cash only businesses to be incredibly inconvenient. I rarely carry cash, and with newer technologies available to pay bills, this inconvenience makes me impatient.
As the BoA ATM was down I didn’t even get the chance to try this restaurant. I won’t be back.

my bf and I rode our bikes here for a weekend breakfast. We were able to get seated right away which was nice because I was starving. My order was a bit complicated but the waitress was very nice and she told me that they could do all the things I was asking for. The service after that was a little lacking. The food came out slow and at different times. They kept forgetting to bring out our toast. The food was good. I like that the place is close. lets hope that they get a little bit better on the delivery.

This is a great community café with a wonderful out of the past feel. Really good breakfast, very clean and friendly staff. When my family from out of town was here, they ate here 4 days in a row they liked it that much!
One tip: they accept CASH ONLY.

This tiny restaurant serves some pretty good food. How tiny you ask? The bathroom is next to the kitchen and you have to turn sideways to walk between the counter and the tables.
I had the huevos rancheros because I love salsa with eggs for breakfast. The beans tasted freshly cooked and very flavorful. I had a side bowl of fruit to balance all the meat and starch. Overall, it was a great meal.

Hole in the wall? I think NOT.
Despite its cheesy signage, the food was quite good and dare I say, on the healthy side. We had coffee for days with good service and a cute mom and pop ambiance.
I highly recommend any of the scrambles. They have limited seating so make sure to grab breakfast with the early birds!
