Excellent food. Been a vegetarian since birth and this is as good as it gets. Love the friendly ambiance that this restaurant gives. Personally I love the Asian-fusion croissant with egg, soy ham, tomato, zucchini and special sauce.

In a rush to go somewhere in Kirkland, I have walked my this little gem and not gone in. Today, I had time and went in and what a delightful experience. As a vegetarian, this place is gold! Healthy sauces, a great family that owns it and fast service. The seating inside is small, but order your food, take it with you, and enjoy a wonderful meal. Vegetarian peeps… this is your spot! I will be going back next time I am in the neighborhood

Every time I think about this place, the happy song from Despicable Me 2 goes off in my brain. Very apt. Literally a hole in the wall. There is one table. Fortunately, we decided to eat dinner early. On an evening with the Farmer’s Market going on full swing. That must have been where everybody was because we were the only patrons and lucky enough to sit at the one table. Don’t let the appearances fool you. The food was quite good. I don’t know how vegetarian«meat» can have so many flavors and textures but it did. I went with a «fish» dish and my husband’s had something that resembled squid. My son had the Hawaiian ham dish. Don’t ask me how they managed to make my protein taste like fish! They did warn us that it was made with egg. So be aware that some dishes are not vegan here. We also ordered the soy meat buns. My son who is a pork bun afficionado devoured them. So those were good as well. I have certainly had better Asian vegetarian food but service was very friendly, the food was well prepared, good portions, and healthy. We will definitely be back. «Because I’m happy…»

We really enjoyed this place. Cute, very small location, there is one large table, outdoor seating, and quite a few chairs for sitting at the counters. I wasn’t a big fan of the vegetarian fish, but the bubble tea was delicious and the vegetable fried rice was really outrageous. Very friendly staff and especially because there are very few vegetarian options in the area, we’ll definitely be back.

I just got their veggie buns, super tasty! And the family that owns it is so sweet. I will definitely be coming back :)

Sad sad Broccoli and meat. I have been a vegetarian for probably 15 years. So I understand different textures and have tried all sorts of different meat substitutes. But this did not have the flavor or the texture that was desirable for me to even want to eat more than one bite. I also tried the veggie bun and the meat bun which was okay. Taste more bun than flavor. I’m going to have to go out and get different food. I’m confused on the other reviews being so high.

After living in Seattle for 6 years, I have to revise my rating here. 1. Bubble tea is mediocre at best, get it elsewhere 2. Food is great, but way overpriced for the portion(and they bumped up the price as well) 3. Too small for any party to fit in. If anyone came before you, you will be expecting a take out because there’s no where for you to sit. 4. Parking is horrible(not the restaurant’s fault but the overall experience for finding a spot with all the one way drive is just so bad, it makes me feel like i’m dining out in Seattle downtown.) If they can find a better location, adjust their food price and have better marketing techniques, I will totally go everyday.

I’m not a vegetarian. But reviews were good enough to prompt me to try this place. Had the chicken tofu with broccoli and a diet coke. $ 11! Sauce was so so mainly just a thick soy. Cramped interior. Friendly couple running it. I guess it’s a unique place considering they are using vegetarian soy based fake meat. I’m sure if you are a vegetarian this is a nice option to have.

Would recommend this to every vegetarian. Great food lovely people and very reasonable prices. Not too much place to sit there though. Had the wanton soup and fried rice omelette… Both were excellent.

This dinky little place is tucked in there and really small, but the food is really good! AND I love supporting family owned businesses…

I have to say the family who owns this vegetarian eatery are very sweet and helpful! I’ve eaten here countless times and have tried many of their entrees, sandwiches, boba tea drinks, and their Soy meat«hum bao» buns. I love their soy meat stuffed buns… very flavorful… I buy them in bulk and love the ease of heating them up for a quick snack or a small meal. I’ve tried the veggie buns but like the soy meat better. Just an FYI for those searching for this eatery in Kirkland — This is an extremely small eatery — but due to the size it keeps the rent costs down so that we can be graced by their presence in Kirkland! I’ll continue to come here — love supporting small businesses; especially ones that support kindness and respect toward animals, as well as genuine concern for human health! They have the best tasting soy meat ever. A very nice couple run this excellent café. A very small, one table, restaurant that is exceptionally clean. Try it you will return.

Nice to have vegetarian restaurant in downtown Kirkland, but quite small and better for takeout(though they use sytrofoam). Some of their attempts may not work i.e. you may get better Banh Mih elsewhere.

I got the tradition milk tea(hot), it does taste authentic. It could be a little less sweet to my personal taste, but it doesn’t bother me to enjoy it. Good job!

When I lived in Kirkland, I discovered this place after getting a haircut and I fell in love with their bubble tea which isn’t made from powder and contains real fruit. Their soy meats are very good, and the corn cream soup is delicious. I live in Seattle and haven’t stumbled upon anywhere comparable just yet, so I may just go out of my way to eat here again soon. The employees are friendly and the food is delicious every time, but the place doesn’t offer much dining space due to its tiny size.

Just not fresh. Veggies were old and somewhat mushy. Sandwich on croissant was mushy and wet. Water pitchers are old and look dirty. Needs a makeover inside and maybe a smaller fresher menu? For a location this good in Kirkland, it should be hopping. The people here are so nice so it’s tough to write a bad review, but old vegetables are just gross.

I love their bubble real fruit smoothie(Mango-Strawberry), Fresh Juice(Apple, Carrot and Cerely), and Food(#1Curry veggies, and #19 Spicy tofu fried.) Price is pretty cheap. Café Happy is a tiny tiny place but full of a lot of drinks, sandwiches and food. More like Family homestyle. The cute older couple and funny younger couple are very sweet. My husbands and I are loving this place.

Man I don’t get what everybody is all excited about this place for. It is tiny little place in the downtown Kirkland. I went during the The lunch rush and was the only one in there. A nice Asian family looks to be running the place, Service was just fine but the food was really blah! Too many good places to eat to settle for blah.

I was super hungry and in a rush, and decided to finally stop by Café Happy. What did I like? I was able to quickly get some vegetarian food for cheap! The place is very small so I’m glad I had no plans to stay and eat there, but… it all worked out. They have two kinds of veggie buns(think hum bao!) that they sell for $ 2 each. One has some noodles and lettuce inside, and the other just has soy meat. I definitely preferred the one that was more like the popular pork hum bao. It tasted good and AND it was easy to eat without making a mess. Good stuff! I hope to stop by again someday.

YUM! Great Chinese veg option on the Eastside. I like how they put their menu up with pictures for almost all of the items. This balances out the names, which might sound a bit scary to someone who’s not into fake meat. Usually restaurants like this will just put a note somewhere on the menu that all«meat» items are veggie substitutes, then put friendly-sounding names like«Mongolian Beef» or «General Tso’s Chicken» on the menu. Not here! My current favorite dish right now, for example, is «Broccoli w/soy meat.» But seriously, it’s good. The soy meat is good on its own, not just something that passes as an acceptable meat substitute. There are quite a few options for such a small place, and there’s still a lot I haven’t tried. A few downsides… it’s right smack in the middle of downtown Kirkland. This is really convenient if you live there, but if you drive in, traffic and parking can be really annoying sometimes. Also, it is a tiny place, so the food is better for takeout than eating in. I wouldn’t have it change, though. Staying small keeps the quality good, and I’m all for supporting that!
