For all the fans of the Ale House in Kingston I would like to let you know that there has been a change of ownership and we are currently in the midst of a remodel of the restaurant and bar. We are expecting to reopen in mid-late March. Check our web page and Facebook page for more info. We apologize for the inconvenience but we hope you will visit is when we reopen. This WAS the best place to go for Clam Chowder. We had just discovered it last October and started planning a weekly trip over by ferry just to go there and eat. I’ve been telling people about this fantastic place. Last night(12-21-2015) my son came home from the military on leave. Of course we took him over and found a note on the door that«new owners» had taken over and have closed it for an undetermined amount of time. Sadly we spent $ 20 some on walk-on ferry tickets and ended up with no dinner. The note said to look on Facebook and on the website for updates. There was nothing on either.

My husband and I stopped in on our way home from the ferry. We ordered a burger, and clam chowder. My chowder tasted like milk and nothing else. I was pretty disappointed. The server took it off the bill though so no complaints on customer service. The restaurant was bought out and will be closing in 3 days which seems to be a bummer for the people that work there. I am told it will reopen soon after a remodel.

We’ve been here several times and haven’t gone back for awhile. I guess that tells you something. It’s been very uneven, a bit pricey for what you get, and I agree with a previous review — go across the street to the Filling Station, instead.

Don’t even bother. Over priced. Poor quality. Staff seem annoyed that they have customers. Go across the street to the filling station. Food is better and so is the service..

Today was my first visit. There will be more. The place is beautiful! Food was delicious, & the wait was short. Great staff/service. Well worth the drive from Seattle.

Met up with some friends there last night. Super fun! Friendly staff, great drinks, and we had a blast doing Kareoke.

On vacation, we got addicted to Mora Ice Cream, that’s right across the street from the Ale House. So we made the ferry ride a number of times, and ate at the Ale House each time. Their food is great. I had salads, and a chicken dish. Their wine is delicious, too. My husband liked their IPAs a lot. Their deck in back has a great view, although it was a little warm to sit out there in May. We sat in the back dining room, and were close to the kitchen. We got a kick out of the kitchen staff singing and joking with each other. Service is good, too. Definitely recommend this place.

Horrible slow service, bad corn tortillas for $ 1 extra, Unilocal had good reviews but look closely at recent bad reviews because it took forever to get our food, bread was over toasted and salmon tacos bland, but pear salad was awesome, lucky me but not the other four

Really disappointing experience. They were out of the beer(Valholl Golden Warrior), appetizer(steamers), and entrée(22 oz ribeye) that I wanted to order. It was not a particularly busy night(Labor Day Monday), but it took over 45 minutes for our family of four to be served. Adding insult to injury, before we even got our food one of the servers asked if we had finished eating. Once we got the food, it was just ok. The best part of the fish and chips was the coleslaw. Our waitress apologized, but we won’t be coming back.

My family and I had very enjoyable dinner after our ferry ride back. We ate outside on their deck and watched the sun descend over the tops of the trees. Our waiter James was extremely kind and did an excellent job of taking care of us. The 104 Burger was excellent with a generous, and very tasty grass-fed meat patty. I chose bleu cheese, which made it even more enjoyable. My wife had the meatloaf and it proved that meatloaf is often given a bad rap. It was quite good and you’ll have some to take home as there is a generous portion served. This was our first time at Main Street Ale House and we were very happy with our last minute choice for dinner. We will be back.

Just OK. Got the ½ lb burger with fries. They were out of fries. A drop of mayo on the burger. Sweet potatoes substituted for reg fries. Ok but they were raw and undercooked. I’ve visited here a few times. Service is so so and food quality is inconsistent. If you come here without too high of expectations you’ll be fine. Beer is good. Outside deck is inviting. Not horrible but not great. Last time I visited got the crab cakes with rice. Rice hard and undercooked. Seriously new management? How do s your cook/s mess up freaking rice and fries. I know 10 year olds that can cook better than this. I used to order these before the new management and this was my favorite thing on the menu. Cooks are in dire need of training.

They have a very good clam chowder! Perfect after getting off the ferry. The crab melt was small and really 2 crab cakes on half a baguette with cheese on top. Service was nice but food came out slowly and it wasn’t crowded at all.

Just sat at a table for 20 minutes without a server coming to bring us water, ask for drink orders, or take our food order. We watched another table arrive after us in our section and get served drinks. We left without a server ever coming to our table. We went to The Drifter Lounge and had a beer in hand within a few minutes of entering.

A very nice place to grab a quick bite while you wait for the Kingston ferry. After a productive day trip to the Olympic national park I was tired and hungry but still had not had the opportunity to have some of the awesome Dungeness crab. The place looked nice and very presentable, a place where I would not mind sitting and having something to eat if I have the time. The service was prompt and friendly. The Dungeness crab melt was also very tasty. I loved it. It was well seasoned and the crab tested very fresh. This place also has a bar and we grabbed a quick drink on our way out. Overall, a nice, friendly place with good food.

We ventured in tonight for dinner. The service was excellent– we weren’t in a hurry or trying to catch a ferry, yet they were quick and attentive. The food was amazing — my husband and I both had a different style steak. The meat was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. The sides were yummy too and the vanilla crème brûlée was so good! We will definitely come eat here again!

We had a huge meal here and everything was exceptionally good! The head chef came to our table and surprised us with some side dishes that were so so delicious! We will be back every time we come through town!

On my way back from Port Townsend, just missed the ferry. It was lunchtime, so this seemed like a likely spot to grab some lunch before the next boat arrived. I made it work, but there wasn’t a lot of time to spare. I had the bacon cheeseburger(they have some other name for it) and fries for $ 14, and an IPA. The beer wast tasty, and the food was great, but there are better deals to be had on pub grub than fourteen bucks for a burger and fries. Service was quick, friendly and efficient, and they did get me on the road in time to catch my ferry.
