Came to this place to check it out with my girlfriend. Turned out to be such a terrible and uncomfortable experience. When we first got in we looked at what drink to get. The bartender CHRISTY(which is the name she had given us) looked at us up and down and without me even asking what beers they had on tap, she rudely asked me for my ID. I know I may look young but you should let me ask for a drink first before you rudely asked me for my identification. She had such a very stinky face on and she was very rude to me and my girlfriend. We try to make conversation with her just to be cool because we were the only ones who were there and she was extremely and rude. She made me and my girlfriend feel very uncomfortable and we didn’t even want to be there. I didn’t even finish my first drink and I played two games of pool and left because I was very uncomfortable. The bar has a lot of potential but it was the worst experience of a bar I had.

Came here to hang out after eating at Bistro resturaunt. I thought the place will be a good spot to hang out and play some pool since Bistro was good and theyre the same owners of both places. When i entered in the afternoon, the bartender Christy was extremely rude, on her phone most of the time, had a serious face on, and i attempted to converse with her and all i got was a «No» for two simple questions that i asked to start a conversation and she walked away to text on her phone. She also just snatched my ID out of my hand when i ordered a glass of wine. I was not comfortable playing a game of pool with her being around,. Deff NOT good customer service…

We had our son and daughter-in-law’s baby shower there this past weekend. The food was deliciously catered by The Bistro(near Grove St PATH) — same owners. They were so accommodating — Juliet managed the process beautifully, and Lou did anything we asked of him. We used the huge screen to do a mash-up game(via our laptop) of what the baby might look like if the parents-to-be were paired with various celebrities. Major crowd-pleaser! Highly recommend this place for any special event! Jill Kushner

Terrible service, bartenders are rude and stuck up. Management screwed up the fight of the century. No crowd control or could get to the bar. Bathrooms were in bad shape and the place smelled like a combination of cigarettes and weed.

It sadly went beyond disappointment. Invited to an event you would think that customer service would be turned up a notch so as to please the hosts. As a guest entering for the first time it was in utter chaos, the music beyond a fevered pitch and not in a good way and technical difficulties front and center(We prefer believing there’s someone behind a curtain making sure sounds work, not watching someone plop down a speaker to the far end of the bar under the screen — nice screen though) My party and I arrived ready to be dazzled — by the event — which really needed just decent support from the venue. In support we ordered drinks and two items off the menu. Fooooooooooooorty minutes later we track down our server only to be told one of the items had run out(who runs out of Wings on a Thursday night, 10pm at a SPORTSLOUNGE???) Aside from not getting this information within a timely manner now we ask of the other item and the blank stare quizzical look lead to the question if we were still interested? I mean 45 minutes later if you can’t bring out at plain pizza in 10 minutes why are you in business? Well, 25 minutes later here comes the pizza(that did not wow at all, not enough of anything on it to bring any of us back again) which becomes ice cold in less than five because the rocket scientist at the door decides to open up the doors for ten minutes and chill everyone out. Maybe to remind them it’s almost 10:30 on a weeknight and time to go? The server didn’t charge us for the pizza so if you’re up to waiting over 75 minutes for cold free pizza this is the place for you. Unfortunately it made our enthusiasm for our colleague and his TV Series Launch party dampened to a degree that we talked about it all the way back in to Manhattan as we figured out where to go for some real food and warm climate for our early Thursday night out. Nothing to write home about, you’re just not missing anything and if you want to hold an event there consider your own survey cards to make sure you get a real return on your investment.

Great bar to go out for a spontaneous night out. Went there and was disappointed they didn’t have the hookahs any longer and it seemed like their beers on tap shrunk a bit. I had the sliders off the bar menu and really there was nothing spectacular about it at all. What saves the place for are the pool tables, great music, and beautiful women that walked through the door =).

I remeber when it was power house, Nice place. They have good seating by a little fake fireplace in the wall. They have one pool table and a nice size bar. The food is ok but I feel like the place is a little out of date. They have 3 big garage doors in front that open up in the summer.

Not like this place needs anymore negative reviews but they just don’t seem to get it. I’ve been meaning to come back since I figured they took some steps towards making it better when changing the name. Unfortunately, I was wrong. My friend had contacted this establishment from their website and planned a Friday night from 8−11pm open bar with food deal for $ 35. When we showed up, the management said they had no idea there was a planned party that night. They have a party of 8 people(with more on the way) waiting to give them $ 35 each and they are repeatedly calling the owner for instructions. Meanwhile there were 2 customers in the place… We went to another bar and they ended up calling my friend back and apologizing they dropped the ball and asked us to «please come back, and they will make it up to us». When we went back they offered a 2 hour open bar for $ 30 with no food. I genuinely feel bad for whoever is financing this operation. There were at LEAST15 employees in a large building with no more than 15 customers at any time all night. With this said, they turn down our party. I’ve watched enough Bar Rescue to know this can’t be good for business. Maybe this is their plan? Run a terrible bar and keep applying to be on Bar Rescue to be bailed out by Jon Taffer? Idk. Another thing we thought was odd, when we made small talk with a manager during our wait we asked«so you guys recently rebranded, and changed the layout, menu, etc?». He responded«No, we just changed our name». What kind of management failed as powerhouse lounge bc of the racism reputation and whatever else then when given an opportunity to pitch the new spot responds with«we just changed the name»???

Giving it two stars purely for potential — here we go: Popped in for an impromptu Valentine’s Day bar crawl Saturday with a group of about 15, having heard about their massive TV we were pumped to catch the Villanova game here! We entered this deserted bar around 7pm. Looking around, it has a very cool atmosphere with the massive tvs, chic fireplace inside, and two full bars. It was all downhill from there. For starters, there was one bartender at the large bar on a Saturday night, and a manager who did nothing but observe(hey buddy she’s swamped, why not pitch in?) and made an occasional comment to the bartender which only kept her from making our drinks for even longer. 25 minutes later, I got my first drink. PHEW I was thirstyyyy. Well later on 3 drinks came to $ 8 so somebody made a mistake, can’t complain though. Later on, another bartender comes out and walks directly to the tiny bar behind us to wait on a single customer. Hello sir, there are 20 people over here, some assistance maybe? Nope. They were out of most of their food… on a Saturday night at 7pm… in a deserted restaurant so it was clearly not due to tons of people ordering. Huh? The flatbreads they did have available were glorified crackers with some half-cooked cheese and prosciutto on them, way overpriced and did not taste good. We got out of there as quickly as possible! I think it’s an awesome space, if they managed and staffed it better, and maybe threw a burger and fries on the menu! I think they may be trying to hard but unfortunately it’s not workin.

Came here with a group of 6 to watch the first round of the football play-offs. The big screen was GREAT, but that was the only reason why I don’t give them a 2 star rating. The service was HORRIBLE, I have never been to a place so bad before. The waitress may have been new and might be the reason of why it left a sour taste in my mouth. They do have pool tables but the poo it tables are slanted! Can’t even play a fair game. So during the night we were ordering pitchers of beers from our waitress but we went to the bar a couple of times to order pitchers of beer and during the 2nd time we tried to get another pitcher one of the bartenders told me they don’t serve pitchers of beers on Saturdays –__-. We literally ordered 4 pitchers that night, what do you mean you don’t serve pitchers? Sum it up. Disorganized, bad service, and is just a joke. Don’t fall trap to their Big screen.

I was heading to another place on football Sunday, but I saw the giant TV and cool space and got lured in. I pass by this bar all the time and have always wanted to check it out because of the somewhat clever name. I should have trusted the Unilocal reviews and gone somewhere else. They had a special going on — $ 10 for a pitcher of domestic beer and a «pizza». It turned out to be more like a limp flatbread with poor use of ingredients. To be fair though, $ 10 for a pitcher isn’t bad… as long as you don’t run into any tap issues as other Unilocalers have noted. The rest of the food that we ordered was a joke. $ 10 for wings that were heavily fried, extremely salty, and not properly sauced. $ 12 for nachos that used dollar store chips and other low quality ingredients. Although our server was really nice(and quick), I did see another waitress yell at another staff member near our table so it’s definitely a hit or miss. Tl;dr Resist the temptation of the giant TV(and any other«specials» they have going on). Really had hoped for more from this place.

I been wanting to check out this place since it opened and I drive by it often. Finally last night I was in the mood for some bar food and came here. The minute we walked in we were greeted. I love the look of the place, expose brick, fireplace on the wall, flat screens everywhere, high tables and the best part an additional small bar in the middle of the room. I don’t know why but I really liked the idea of two bars in one place. We sat down and Mandy(I think that was her name) came over with menus. She was super friendly and attentive and told us about all of the specials. We went with the sliders and wings. The wings were really good, crispy and the perfect amount of heat(I usually like them medium since a little kick is all I need), they were so good we ordered more. The sliders were okay I wouldn’t get them again. This is a great place to watch games, I will be back.

I was here on a Saturday night, service seems to go fine right until it starts getting busy. I wanted the Stone IPA, the new bartender looked at me like I had 3 heads, we’re off to a great start. The other bartender had to point out that it was bottled and not draft. Having said that, this second bartender poured me a draft later that I waited at least 5 mins for, I have never been to a bar where the person never tilts a glass, 90% of the glass was all head. She got it right eventually, but it was painful to watch. I don’t understand how you can have two newish bartenders on your main bar on your«busiest» night. Also, they wouldn’t let me pay with a $ 100? What kind of operation is this? «We don’t have change for that.» There were plenty of TVs, pool tables were ok, having the two next to each other made it kinda hard to play, probably best to have one in that same area. Also, men’s room bathroom, there is one urinal closest to a sink, with no divider so you can watch yourself piss into it. Weird layout on that front. Crowd was late 30s/early 40s, so something to keep in mind if that’s your thing… or not. I saw one of the servers ranting about a customer to one of the bartenders too, probably not good for business, keep that to yourself til your shift is done. Needless to say, they weren’t good as Powerhouse and they still need work as 6th Borough. It’s a shame too, that location can really be something.

Great setup, poor execution. Best way to describe this bar for Sunday Football. The place visually is awesome. Tons of TV’s including a huge(really really huge) one over the bar for the main game of the day. That being said, the staff there left a ton to be desired. First, the huge TV played 4 channels in each corner… but it was the same game. They couldn’t figure out how to either make the game in one big screen or have 4 diff channels on the big screen. Second, the service was awful. Took 15 minutes to get a pitcher of beer and over 45 minutes to get food. It was a poor combo of understaffed and under qualified. The sound kept cutting out and then start playing extremely loud. The only thing that saved this from being a 1 star was that the manager was really cool and understood the poor service so he gave us some of our food for free. Food was actually really good when it finally arrived. They just seemed really unprepared for a full house on week 1 of the NFL. If they fix the staff problems, this would be an awesome place to watch games.

This place is a joke. Let it be known that I frequent other watering holes and am familiar with bar fare, frozen burgers and wings and pitcher specials. It doesn’t take that much or that long to get the orders out when there is a system. Come here for a warmish beer after getting attitude from the female bartender with the thinnest skin you’ve ever encountered. Order from their limited food menu and be prepared to wait at least 40 minutes for buffalo wings, a burger and grilled chicken sandwich. See photos for the remarkable end product. Before it was 6th Borough, this same space was The Powerhouse Lounge and nothing has changed. Inconsistent service, subpar food and warm beer. I really wish they got their timing and customer service together but it really still needs work.

I have stooped by there twice. First time– I was the only person there. Caroline the bartender was cool and had a nice conversation. Booze was reasonably priced and enough TVs to give you a brain tumor. Second time was a friday night Happy Hour. Cool deal for Corporate Happy till 8. 10 bucks for 5 drinks and free pizza which is actually pretty good. Chicken Nachos are also good. It had a very eclectic crowd but never more than 15 people. A lot of space but can’t really define what type of bar it is. It feels like it’s having an identity crisis. Hopefully time and puberty will fix that. Problem? Why 2 stars you ask? The service SUCKSROYALLY!!! Waitress didn’t explain the Happy Hour at all, was slow as hell, and wasn’t a very pleasant human being to boot. Luckily my friend had called and got the details from the manager– who is a nice guy… It would take 15 min to get a draft of Miller Lite! Again– not busy at all! I wasn’t sure if they actually flew the pizza in from Italy or went out and strangled a chicken for the Nachos. We ordered fries and by the time the showed up we forgot we ordered them. Ya, that long… Back to Happy Hour– they never informed us that the 5 drinks had to finished by 8. So get there early enough so you can enjoy your drinks or get ready to relive college and chug baby chug!!! Remember that it takes a lifetime to get a beer from the«cheerful» waitress so really get there early. Actually by 7:40pm the waitress disappeared so we had to go to bar to get the rest of our drinks. Bartender seemed confused but eventually caught onto the concept of serving us alcohol– good for her and us… Maybe over time it will figure itself out, but for now the only thing 6th Borough has going for itself is their Happy Hour deal. Have Fun

Went here for the US vs. Portugal Soccer match on Saturday. We got there an hour before the game and ordered our Corona draft beers to settle in. 10 minutes before the game started, we ordered another round and after about 20 minutes, the waitress comes back to say that they’ve run out of Corona on tap! What poor supply chain planning — if you call yourself the«World Cup Headquarters» in JC, then try not to run out of beer before a major match! Then we ordered sweet potato fries, and once again after a loooong wait, she comes back to say they’re out of that too. Finally got bottled beer and regular fries. But all along, service was poor — people bringing others’ food to us, taking 30 minutes for water and so on. They were just clearly not staffed with enough people and those with attention to detail. I do not recommend going here for other World Cup matches because it really ruins the experience

We popped in here to try it out(World Cup Soccer, baby!). We got there at noon(the time they opened and when the game started) — because of extended hours for the Cup. We sat at the bar… bartenders were a bit… aloof and odd… but we got our glasses of booze and asked for menus. We were told the kitchen doesnt open until 1pm. I wouldnt have even sat down if I had known that… I had assumed, naturally, if you open at noon, LUNCH is okay to eat at noon. At least, put up a stupid sign with a sharpie noting that the kitchen is open at 1… so people done wander in with false hopes. I guess Ill have to update this review later on, sometime after 1pm. EDIT: WECAMEBACK! Never am I the one to be defeated… so, after checking out Biergarten for the USA-Portugal game Sunday(DAYUM that place was crowded…), we went with Plan B and hit up Sixth(6th) Borough. The bouncer at the front gave us one of the last tables(a pool table converted into a prime sitting spot!). Our waitress, Joslyn, was all over things — and judging from the crowd there, that was no easy feat. Granted, because of the large amounts of people, food and drinks took a really long time to come out(so if you come for a game, get a pitcher of beer instead of ordering by the bottle/pint). We actually got to try the food! Chicken fingers/fries — were fine but probably not worth $ 10… you only get three tiny strips of chicken. but it felt in-house battered in panko and it wasnt pounded thin and unrecognizable, which I loved Buffalo Wings — I didnt eat these, but the couple that ordered them really liked them. Nachos: AVOID. There was some weird sauce on it, maybe a handful of shredded cheese, and a ton of lettuce piled on top. Quesadilla: We asked for no onions or peppers — was told it was just chicken and cheese… it came out with onions and peppers. So — if you like those things, youll like this. if not, triple-ask to ensure its left off. Our server was super apologetic(her and my guy have a distrust of onions in common!) — no big deal on a crowded day. It we were the only ones in the place, it may have been more traumatic. Overall, Joslyn made this experience truly something special for us — if only she made the US win the match as well…

I enjoyed my experience here for dinner. Drinks were great and the food was amazing. Very simple menu like an upscale bar. I had the balsamic wings and sweet potato fries and even a flatbread pizza and all of it was very delicious. They have friendly staff and the waitress was super nice plus the manager was great too. Would definitely come check out again!

Short story: pretty awful food, decent décor and a lot of TVs to watch games on. Long version: the sliders were not sliders, simply mini burgers on a way-too-big bun. Patties were clearly frozen junk, poorly seasoned and the cheese wasn’t melted in the slightest. I may try this some months from now if they possibly get bought out by someone that gives a damn about the food, but probably won’t bother.
