Stopped in while doing a walking tour of the downtown area. We walked in close to 2pm and the place was empty. We didn’t mind at all, we were hungry and thirsty, and not in that order… lol! I started out with my standard Moscow Mule, my bestie had Chardonnay. The bartender was attentive but not smothering which we truly appreciated. We ordered the marguerita style flatbread, bison meatloaf sliders and onion rings. The sliders were on point and super delish! The onion rings were some of the best I’ve had, too. The flatbread was light and tastey as well. I did have a prohibition era drink, the daisy, that was good too. Even tho this says it’s a sports bar, I didn’t feel like I was in a sports bar. And the Omni is a beautiful hotel attached to the bar.

Very laid back environment. And fresh, delicious cocktails! I had the Collins Royale, my friend made the statement«this IS the best cocktail I’ve ever tasted»… So if that isn’t saying something. The bartenders were friendly and efficient. They have shuffle board and pool, only one table of each. But this doesn’t seem to be a problem, since the bar isn’t very crowded. Great place for a relaxed hang, and a tasty, well crafted cocktail with fresh fruit and high quality liquor. UPDATE: After being back several times, I will say this place is still a favorite of mine. Thursday night was accompanied by a solid acoustic guitar performer. Really great Date location! And also, great place to go with friends where you can ACTUALLY hold a conversation. It isn’t overbearingly loud or crowded. A few friends I have brought complained that the drinks are too pricey. $ 10 and up for the most part. But the cocktails are of higher quality, accompanied with fresh fruits and zest. To me, that makes it worth the price. Plus, it IS still a hotel bar, albeit not your average. But the drink prices do reflect that.

We visited on a Sunday when they weren’t too busy. The décor is an eclectic mix of woods and modern touches. Chris our bartender was super nice, giving us his honest opinion on drinks and food. I got the champagne cocktails which he suggested, and it was a really good mix of flavors. My friend got the rum collins, not quite as fancy but also really tasty. When ordering an appetizer Chris suggested the steak tacos, we went with Tenderloin sliders instead because we already had tacos earlier that day. The tenderloin sliders looked very good but were a little inedible, the actual meat was very thin and rough, making it hard to even bite through it. Chris was accommodating and returned those to the kitchen and we got the steak tacos instead, which were really good. We also ordered a slice of cheesecake. Overall good experience but I would suggest they put a little more detail into the items they have on the menu.

Not bad for a hotel bar! Very nice atmosphere, good location to downtown hot-spots, decently-priced menu. With so many chains in the area, it’s nice to have a different option! We enjoyed some local beers on tap and our group ordered a flat bread and several desserts. Food was solid, but nothing I’d come back just to have(I had a slice of pie for Pi Day). The biggest issue we experienced was service — took a long time to be greeted, staff seemed distant, frequently didn’t receive drinks we asked for, had to ask a few times for water on multiple occasions, etc. The bar wasn’t packed by any means — just overall a bit disjointed.

This is tough to review because I hate judging a place based off the service but damn was it bad. For a slow week night, you shouldn’t have to wait almost 10 minutes to just get a menu. Waiting to get a water refill was a whole other story. The just of the evening was a bunch of waiting. I’ve been here a couple times before and never had an experience like this so I’m just hoping it was an off night for them. The place has a really nice atmosphere so hopefully they get things turned around.

I was really looking forward to coming here for Devour last night. My friends and I were trying to decide on a place to go and I suggested Severin. I had read some good reviews and the menu offered a veggie option and drinks so I thought we’d give it a shot. We parked in the mall garage and went through a maze to get to the Omni(only to later find out that we could have had complimentary valet since we were there for Devour) We finally walked into Severin and were really digging the atmosphere — Brick and wood walls, 12 tv’s, a pool table, dim lighting, etc. It wasn’t busy and so we had plenty of options of where to sit; we chose a hightop table in the middle of the bar. We had been sitting for quite awhile without a menu or waters. A few people had greeted us, but no one seemed to care that we didn’t have a server yet. The place wasn’t busy and we had seen about 5 servers behind the bar so we were getting pretty frustrated. We finally get menus and ask for some water. We were handed a Devour menu and their regular menu. Since there were three of us we were trying to figure out how to order because the Devour option is 2 for $ 35. We were told that 1 person could get the same option for $ 25, but we didn’t think that would be worth it so one of us ordered off the regular menu. We asked our server what was on draft and she had no idea. She finally comes back and just mentions the style of beer, she doesn’t say the names. We ended up just looking at her paper with the names because she didn’t look like she knew what she was talking about. The draft beer they had wasn’t the best. We had asked for samples and after trying 4 we finally decided what to order. I was glad that we were able to get the samples because the initial beer I was planning on ordering wasn’t that good so I’m really happy I sampled it first. While we were sampling beers, our server asked us to put a card down. We all were super confused by this since we were dining in, but I went ahead and gave her my card. Is this normal? For our appetizer we ordered the Spicy Corn Fritters. They were pretty delicious! We had asked if we could substitute the Devour Portobello veggie burger to their Quinoa burger and were able to. We later realized that was probably a huge mistake. The burgers come out and they didn’t look bad. Unfortunately, it was bland. It did come with chips and they were pretty delicious, but who can get full from chips?! For dessert we were given two twinkies. I didn’t even try it because it didn’t look very appetizing and after seeing the expression on my friends face after taking a bite, I’m thankful I didn’t try it! Although we were able to switch out our burger, able to sample beers, and enjoy the atmosphere the service and food just didn’t make up for that. I felt bad that I suggested this place because it turned out to be a huge disappointment.

My friends and I chose this place for Devour cause we had never been there before and it seemed pretty good from the menu! We parked in the mall parking and walked over, not an issue. We sat down and were told a few different times that someone would be there to help us. …ten minutes later and no one. Not even water or menus. In a situation where it’s a Friday evening and its slammed and short-staffed, I understand. On a Tuesday evening when there’s only 4 groups in the place? Not acceptable. We’re finally greeted by someone who gives us menus and then we’re left again. Finally our server comes and explains the menu. We ask her a question that needs to be addressed before we order, and she just awkwardly stands there till we tell her she needs to ask before we make our minds up. (By this time already, we’re contemplating going to a new restaurant but she came back just in time to change our minds.) The server then requires that one of us put a credit card down to have on file … We found that really weird since we were dining in and getting food. We order and try a few beer samples. The samples are good, not great, so we order our drinks. I do appreciate that they gave us an option to switch out the one vegetarian option with another, more appealing(at the time) option. We ordered the spicy corn fritters and they were good! We then got the quinoa burgers and chips and by God, it was one of the worst burgers I’ve ever had. Imagine the taste of quinoa… that’s what the entire burger tasted like. No spices. No flavor. Nothing. Quinoa. Thank goodness there were toppings to save the taste. The chips served on the side were good, thankfully! At this time; we had a new server walking around and my friend attempted to get her water refilled close to half a dozen times before she finally got her attention. Out came the dessert. Some«Twinkie» liquor concoction. Honestly; an actual highly processed Twinkie tastes better. This tasted like grease meets gross liquor. I ate it cause I didn’t want to waste the food. Overall, an experience of food and lack of service. I will never be back and would never recommend to anyone because of my experience. (Getting two stars cause the interior décor was worthy of an extra star.)

Located in south DT Indy, Severin Bar strives to remove itself from the comparison of «hotel bar.» If you enter from the outside, you;d never even know it was part of the(awesome) Omni-Severin Hotel — which also would get my 5 stars. Their food menu is simple. but loaded with local, farm-raised flavor — from cheeses to bacon to cocktail ingredients. The service is more than just top-notch, it’s edging on perfection. The ambience is modern and low-lit, and they offer occasional live music, too. Whether you are having drinks with a friend or even full-on apps and drinks, this is a great after-work or night-out spot in downtown.

Stopped in before the B1G Ten game and had a couple of bloody Mary’s. Pretty decent and I think it was their own in house mix. Bartender was friendly and quick. The place filled up quickly and got pretty loud but we were slow l leave because we had the best table in the house. We would definitely return even though they price gouged people because of an event.

Until the night I ventured in there with one of my buddies, I had no idea this place even existed. Oh what I missed out on. The place looks great. The drinks are innovative and stroooong… and yummy. Food is fit for foodies. And the service impeccable… What more could you want?

I recently visited the Severin Bar for the first time. Most people discourage dining at hotel bars, especially when you’re local– but Devour Downtown was an excuse to venture to the Omni. First off, their valet was complimentary as part of Devour Downtown, which is a big bonus. There are metered spots close by, but those are never a guarantee. Once inside the bar, which is to the left once you enter the lobby, there were plenty of open seats for our 7pm dinner. They don’t take reservations, but it was not busy in the slightest. Things don’t pick up in the bar until 10pm or so. We ordered cocktails, which they are known for. My first cocktail was rather disappointing– the Manhattan. I enjoy Bourbon, but this was too strong. They make it with sherry, and the final flavor just wasn’t on point. Later, I had their champagne cocktail, and it was much more palatable. We shared the tomato mozzarella flatbread, which was quite good. It could easily stand alone as an entrée. This was followed with their chicken Cobb salad– also quite good. I substituted the balsamic dressing for the buttermilk, and it was delicious. The dessert was a milk stout float– I’m not big on ice cream, and the beer was a bit overpowering. The waiter said their other desserts are much better. All in all, I was very pleased. We had a nice dinner(2 for $ 35). We also played some pool after dinner– which is free… None of those machines that require 7 quarters!

I’ve been to Severin two years in a row. This review covers those visits, exactly a year apart. What I found inside: Some very eclectic eats and drinks on the menu alongside the regular pub grub, a full air conditioned bar, a pool table, plenty of games on TV, and lots of comfortable seating for different size groups. The bartenders and waitstaff hustle and know their trade, and they do so with a smile. The mojitos are a good option, though be sure to check out the array of beer choices. They even have a beer sample flight for those who aren’t sure what they want yet. The flatbread with arugula is a tasty vegetarian option, though I must say the cheddar they use on the burger is one of the best I’ve had in a long time.(While the grass fed beef burger is good, they have a decent veggie burger option too, yay!) The excellent cheddar leads me to believe that the cheese plate is probably worth a try next time I’m in town. Playing pool was an unexpected pleasant surprise, as I didn’t have trouble getting the table and even made a few friends in the process. Cheers!

Hotel bars can be easy to overlook, because you figure they’re only meant for the overnight guests. Here’s why that’s not the case at Severin Bar: (01) Rustic yet sleek décor, perfect for the cosmopolitan crowd. (02) A Hoosier-approved food + drink menu that highlights what’s great in our state, like our local farms(i.e. Fischer Farms), food artisans(i.e. Just Pop In! Broad Ripple Chip Co.), and craft breweries(i.e. Flat12, Daredevil, Taxman). (03) Bacon on a stick… need I say more? Therefore, the next time you’re boppin’ around downtown looking for a spot to casually dine and unwind, consider this more-than-just-a-hotel-bar.

Situated in the Omni Severin Hotel, the Severin Bar has delicious burgers, a solid beer selection, and a cool, clean atmosphere. Great place to both watch a sports game and do some after hours work — somehow this place manages to be both.

Great service. Fun atmosphere. Had a great time with new friends. Love this entire experience, from beginning to end. I didn’t order food but they do have a menu.

This bar is somewhat of a hidden gem in the city. Since it is part of a hotel I don’t think it gets as much local foot traffic as it should. The food is delicious and the ambiance is nice. There is even a shuffle board table! We plan on coming to the Severin bar more frequently with friends in the future.

A solid little place for dinner. Hubby and I tried it for Devour Downtown after another place fell through(Mariachis in a small space when you have a headache is not a good mix!). I was thrilled with the food! The smokey mac and cheese was as advertised, a delicious gooey mix of smoked cheeses and perfectly cooked noodles. The ribs had a tasty dry rub and would have been fine by themselves, but a bourbon BBQ sauce was also delicious. They had several local beers on tap and in bottles, as well as all the usual suspects. The service was ok, but not fabulous. I found a hair in my drink and calmly told the bartender. She did get me a new drink, but rather than apologizing, explained that because of the ventilation system, that happened sometimes. Um… ew. If you know that, fix the vents! When we arrived at 6:00 p.m. on a Thursday, the place was pretty deserted, so a bartender and one server was fine. However, by the time we left, nearly every seat in the place was filled and they really could have used another person helping out. Overall, tasty food, ok service, relaxed vibe.

Great place to go for some old fashioned cocktails. I highly recommend the Moscow mule and the champagne cocktail. Both very tasty. They also support the Indiana breweries by having quite a few selections on tap, including Three Floyds. Food was decent. We had a backyard BBQ burger(bacon and an onion ring stacked on top of a pretzel bun) and the veggie burger. They don’t come with any sides besides potato chips. For an app we had the Bacon sticks. It’s flavored bacon on a stick. Nothing to complain about on this appetizer. Tip: don’t sit in the room away from the bar. Cold air flows in and we felt forgotten about.

We visited here on a Sunday and it was our first visit. The interior of the fairly new Severin Bar is really nice and inviting. We opted to sit at the bar. They have $ 3 local draft beers on Sundays, so I had my favorite, the Flat 12IPA. We also ordered a Manhattan, which was presented well and a generous serving. Service at the bar was prompt and frequent. For food, we ordered the following: Local Duck Fritters: Generous portion and tasty. I only tried a small bite of one fritter and while I enjoyed it, I think they are definitely for sharing. I could not eat more than one. Indiana Board: Generous portion of lovely meats, cheeses, pickled veggies and herbed like crackers. While this was presented well on the board, it was not presented well by the server. Anywhere else that serves meat and cheese boards, like Ball and Biscuit or Traders Point Creamery, will introduce the board and explain the meats, cheeses, etc. We really didn’t know what we were eating, unfortunately. Also, placing the pickled veggies next to the crackers made the crackers a little soggy. Local Greens Salad: The blend in this salad was very tasty, but I thought the portion was small. It isn’t a side salad. It is a dinner salad and a dinner salad should be bigger, in my opinion. Quinoa Veggie Burger: This came with chips and we asked if we could substitute something for the chips. Among our options, we chose brussels sprouts. Not only did we still get the chips, but we were charged $ 5 for what appeared to be steamed brussels sprouts that were just okay. The quinoa veggie burger was not good at all. We ordered it without the bun and it was very dry. I cannot image how dry it would be with the bun. The food came out pretty slow. We were the only people at the bar and there were two other tables with one person sitting at them, then a big party of 8 – 10 in the corner that appeared to only be drinking. Overall, the service was great(sans Indiana Board presentation and confusion over substituting chips for something else). The environment was great. Drinks were great. The food was hit or miss, but I think there is hope. It is definitely worth giving Severin Bar a shot, just try to order the good stuff on the menu!

This review is only on drinks/atmosphere: Boy, let me tell you — they can make one helluva Manhattan. Seriously, it had the perfect touch of smoke. Manhattans and I have memories and last night was a perfect rekindling of the memories. Service was excellent — totally on it and hospitable. The emphasis on local ingredients is beautiful, especially for a bar that is technically a hotel bar(you’ll find Wilks & Wilson Syrups, Prohibition Gin, local meats, cheeses, etc.). Next time, I’ll have to order something to eat, especially after reading Deborah B’s recap. Atmosphere: clean and sleek — trying to put my finger on it, but it’s not really my vibe but that wouldn’t stop me from coming in to have a drink… especially the Manhattan ;)
