I really enjoy xtreme tacos. The prices are very reasonable and I’ve never found anything wrong with their tacos yet. They offer different types of salsa in terms of the different heat. Reason I docked one star off is they RARELY update their Facebook/twitter so i never know where they are located and if they’re even open. I got really frustrated when i was craving their tacos and they are usually at Taca’ako Tuesdays at Kaka’ako, but when I arrived they weren’t in sight. Instead i tried the Subpreme sandwiches which were unexpectedly really tasty. Please Xtreme tacos, update periodically on where you are located and whether you are open.

I ate here during Eat the Street and had the garlic chicken taco and the pulled pork taco. The pulled pulled pork taco was great, but the garlic chicken taco was lacking in flavor. I am a huge fan of fusion style tacos, so I will probably go back here at other Eat the Streets.

So my first time to Eat the Street and I chose to give Xtreme Tacos a whirl. Ordered the spicy shredded beef taco and the falaco. It was good, but it wasn’t «OMG it’s soooo good» good. Actually, the spicy shredded beef taco lacked flavor. The falaco was pretty good though, it had this yogurt sauce which gave it a little something. I’m kind of at a loss for what to write in my review of this truck. I love me some tacos, and while it wasn’t bad, it wasn’t outstanding. I may try other tacos next time, maybe another taco might excite me more. Oh, the one perk is the different sauces they offer… but the xtreme spicy sauce, I think it’s the XT… wasn’t all that hot. But I am someone who enjoys my food on FIRE!

Ive been to this truck before at another street event in Chinatown and loved it. So this time when I went over to Eat the Street, I decided to get some tacos. I ordered the sampler taco plate. You get 5 different tacos on a 3 inch tortilla. 5 tacos for $ 8 is a really good deal. The sampler had a smoked chicken taco, a shrimp ceviche, a pulled pork, and my favorite one was the falafel! I forgot what the last one was. Either way, it was good. My family also shared a chicken burrito($ 5). Its an «ok» size and it was definately crispy/flaky because it was deep fried but… it was too cheesy! Next time, I think i’ll just stick to the sampler platter. I will definately be back. Oh, and dont forget the range of sauces they have. Its from Sweet to Extra spicy!

3.5 stars. I got a BBQ pulled pork taco($ 2.50) from their food truck at Eat the Street. It was good! I put some XT sauce and it gave the taco a nice kick. I liked the flavorful pork, the little slaw on top, and double corn tortillas. It wasn’t anything mindblowing but I wouldn’t mind coming back to try their other items.

For me, the appealing aspect of Xtreme Tacos was choosing the level of spice(ranging from sweet to XT). I opted for the spicy shredded beef taco($ 2.50), putting the XT sauce on the side. The shredded beef was juicy, yet created an unappetizing orange oily puddle, leaving the corn tortilla a soggy mess. The fresh diced tomatoes added some freshness to this taco. As for the XT sauce(a tomato-based sauce using habanero peppers), I personally enjoyed the heat, and while it could send some people rushing to the water fountain, I shrugged it off like nothing(but hey, I’ve had ghost chiles, so I’m clearly not a mere mortal on this stuff). Perhaps next time, I’ll consider getting some other menu items such as the Falaco(catering to the vegetarians by using falafel in the tacos) or a chicken taco. More importantly, I also would like to see an even spicier sauce on the menu for the truly insane(points to self). If the name is Xtreme Tacos, where’s the«xtreme» in all this? Is it just the sauce? All I know is I’ve seen these types of tacos everywhere, so I suggest putting something daring out there to set this truck apart from others. Live up to the name a bit more!

I decided to eat at Xtreme Tacos for lunch today since their truck was out in Kapolei next to Fairy Cakes, and I was on a mission to finally try Fairy Cakes. I ordered the Baja Fish taco and the BBQ Pulled Pork taco. After my wait, the guy gave me a chicken quesadilla. :(So I told him that wasn’t what I ordered. The guy who was making the food looked through the order slips and found my order, so they got to it. Little bit of a longer wait than usual, but I was in no rush and no one was rude about the mistake. I hate when a restaurant or food truck makes a mistake on your order, but gets mad at you like it’s your fault! Anyway, so this time they came out of the truck to give it to me and told me to grab a drink. I’m guessing it’s cause of the mix up. The food tasted EXCELLENT. It was so full of flavors. I’m definitely eating here again and if you see the truck, I suggest you try the bbq pulled pork and baja fish tacos!

Tried it at the Eat the Street event yesterday. Nothing extreme about it. I tried a beef taco and a chicken taco. $ 2.50 each. Cheap but nothing special about it. Xtreme-ly disappointing. Definitely won’t be coming back.

Tried Xtreme Tacos again at Taco’ako Tuesday since they had a garlic chicken Quesadilla special. Because their tacos and quesadillas are unique, I raise them to 4 stars: Garlic Chicken Quesadilla special — 4 stars — For $ 5, It’s not your usual quesadilla. Although it doesn’t have quacamole, the quesadilla was cooked just right so the tortilla was a bit crunchy and the chicken mixed with a special seasoning and garlic that tasted much better than other quesadillasI’ve had with just bland chicken inside. This mix was very flavorful that I didn’t need to dip it in the sour cream that came with it and was enough to fill me up. A very cheap lunch, though, high in cholesteral with the blend of cheeses. Because I have to maintain my cholesterol as I get older, I have to «cut the cheese» for a while, and have to resist ordering this dish too often. I think if I offered this to my kids, they would have liked it. Service — 3 stars — it was a bit of a wait before I received my quesadilla, and the servers were ok.

Xtreme taco’s is one of my favorite lunch wagons. When ever they show up on Punchbowl I’m all over it. I really like the pork taco. It’s very flavorful. I’ve had the carne asada taco as well and its really good. The smoked chicken taco is average. I thought it was a little dry. They actually could have put less meat and I think it would have gone down easier. I also like their selections of salsa. The folks that run it are great and its fun to watch them moving around in the that small space cooking and filling taco shells.

Xtreme Tacos recently started parking along Punchbowl in front of the State Library on Mondays. The tacos were decently priced around 2 to 4 bucks, and I would say they were worth it. Two tacos were just enough for me for lunch but I wasn’t full, so you’d probably want three if you were really hungry. I had a Falaco, which was a falafel taco, and it was really good. The crunch of the falafels went nicely with the soft tortilla and vegetables. The smoked chicken was okay, but nothing groundbreaking. The smokiness was hard to detect — it could have been shredded chicken breast for all I know. Assuming the tortillas were not made with lard, skip the sour cream on the Falaco and it would have been vegan — one of the few vegan meals you can find in a lunch wagon. Pretty good, reasonably priced — can’t go wrong!

On my first try here, I got the Baja Fish taco. It was just ok. The fish itself didn’t wow me, but the toppings and the sauce complemented it really well. There were 5 types of sauces varying in heat, which I thought was great. I manned up and went for the XT. Based on the choices, I expected this to be the type that will put me in tears and quickly reach for water. Plus make me wish the next morning(you know what I mean) I went for the sweet sauce. After taking a bite of the taco I proceeded to add the sauce. And you know what…*dramatic pause*…I didn’t endure any of the pain I envisioned. I dunno, maybe it’s because I’m so used to topping my food with sriracha or add choke wasabi/hot mustard to my soy sauce. Kinda pricey at $ 3.50 for the portion you get. I think I would have to order 3 tacos to be satisfied for lunch. On this visit I actually just finished a mini plate lunch from a nearby place, but I wanted to give it a try. First time I’ve seen it in my area(Kapiolani Blvd/Cooke St.). For my second visit, I had the crunchy chicken burrito($ 5) and 2 pork tacos($ 2.50 each). I wanted to get the beef burrito, but that ran out just before I ordered. For the sauces, I went with the XT and Sweet this time around. The burrito is one long piece cut in half and comes with sour cream. I liked this a lot. The outside was crunchy, but not too oily. The inside was oozing with cheese. The chicken was tender. This reminded me of biting into a fresh out of the oven Costco chicken bake. I also enjoyed the bbq pulled pork tacos. The pork was cooked just right, like kalua pig consistency. The sauce tasted like what they use in sloppy joes, kinda sweet. I overcompensated on my order, based on the portion of the fish taco I had last time. I went in starving and barely finished my order. I would’ve been content with getting just a burrito or 2 tacos(they gave a good amount of pork). The Sweet sauce had an interesting taste. I think there was a hint of garlic in there and I know I definitely tasted/saw pineapple.

What makes Xtreme tacos extreme? Joining the fray of Oahu’s taco truck scene, Xtreme tacos offers some decent menu options at reasonable prices, yet I find myself asking«what sets them apart from the rest and make them Xtreme?» The tacos and burritos that they offer on their menu is what I’d expect of a similar establishment with your choices chicken, carnitas(pork), vegetarian, and asada(beef). The flavors are certainly nothing to sneer at, yet doesn’t keep me coming back for more. They were well cooked and prepared, but nothing truly special. The sauces are a little on the weak side so if you normally get spicy, consider trying their«xtreme» sauce and you will be adequately satisfied while the weak tongue folks can certainly be happy with their mild. Service is decent and the orders are dished up pretty quickly considering they are made to order, while the prices are rather reasonable. $ 2.50 for tacos and $ 6-$ 8 for their burritos. Definitely a decent place, but I fail to find what makes them xtreme and standing on its own to keep me coming back for more.

I recently tried them out for the first time. I had the spicy beef, baja fish, falaco(falafel-ish), and shrimp. All were serve inside two small but heated and soft tortillas(Sinaloa brand if the box I saw through the window was correct). The standouts were easily the baja fish and shrimp. The fish was cooked perfectly and was extremely tender and juicy. Whatever sauce came on top of the shrimp made that taco a winner as well. Unfortunately they were also the two of the most expensive on the menu. Although I love falafel, the falaco wasn’t quite real falafel and while it seems to be very popular since I had snagged the last order of the day, I would have preferred it a little more crispy. The spicy beef taco included shredded beef, which is also a plus for me versus ground, but didn’t really stand out flavor-wise. The friend I was with commented that the chicken was, similar to the beef, not a stand-out amongst the rest, but the pulled pork was very good. I’ll definitely be trying that one next time. I sampled the XX and XXX salsas while I was waiting and decided on the XXX. It’s roughly the same amount of heat as the regular(spicy) salsa at Diego’s Taco Shop and exhibits very similar flavors. I took two containers back, but don’t douse these tacos in salsa as you’ll want to taste the flavors of the filling and sauces as much as possible. I ended up using just over 1 container for my four tacos. The tacos cost $ 12.50, plus another $ 1 for a canned soda or bottled water(I bought a Coke but then forgot to take it before I left… doh!) and I wasn’t exactly stuffed at the end, so it’s not a cheap lunch. Still, I think they’re on the right track and are definitely in the upper echelon of lunch wagons quality– and uniqueness-wise. I’ll be going back when they’re around my part of town again.

These are some of the better tacos I’ve had since I’ve been in Hawaii… And like California taco trucks… tacos come with onions and cilantro. That way you know it’s authentic ;) The carne asada ones are definitely my favourite with both the XXANDXXX salsas on them! I’m definitely more down to go here on random days rather than an event like Eat the Street… big line… no thanks!

Location: Xtreme Tacos now resides in the same parking lot as Gogi on Kapiolani. Just like Camille’s, Xtreme’s ala carte prices for tacos range between $ 2.50 and $ 3.50. Also nearly opposite of Camille’s, Xtreme hardly puts any veggies in it, just a sprinkle of onions and cilantro. Xtreme offers a few sauces ranging from mild to… yup, xtreme! However, even with these sauces, I was disappointed in the taste. The pork was very bland and on the chewy side. Even with 3 sauces, excluding the xtreme, it didn’t help. I really was looking forward to some tasty tacos here, the owner even gave me a free drink for being the first customer at their new Kapiolani location. Sadly, I doubt I’ll be back.

Why are these called Xtreme tacos? I’m not sure yet. When you advertise XXX(Very Hot) in a lot right next to a famous strip club/adult only-type of shop, the tacos better be soooo smoking hot they make you want to rip your clothes off. LOCATION: That’s right, the bright yellow Xtreme tacos truck has found a new home in the same parking lot as the Gogi truck @ 1637 Kapiolani Blvd, directly across 24Hr Fitness, so you can work out then pig out. FOOD: I’ve tried this truck twice and both times I felt like I was still waiting for the Xtreme part to kick in. I had the CARNEASADABURRITO $ 6 and the Baja Fish Taco at the first Street Grindz event and wasn’t impressed but it could have been the whole 1200 people and long lines that was making me pissed off at everything I ate that night. My second visit I decided to give the BAJAFISHTACO $ 3.50 another chance, since I used to live in San Diego and ate these babies at least once a week. They batter/DEEP FRY the fish, just the way I like it, and put it in a soft corn tortilla, then throw on my least favorite part of the taco: tomatoes, cabbage, and cilantro and douse it with my favorite part: THESECRETWHITESAUCE. I don’t know what’s in this sauce but who cares, it’s awesome. I have to eat at least 2 or 3 of these so it gets expensive. The other two tacos I tried were CARNITAS(pork) $ 2.50 and the CHICKEN $ 2.50. They all kind of tasted the same, fresh and not oily/greasy but without any sauce, they are bland so you really have to pick a sauce, and here are your choices(I tried all of them except for the last one): SWEET X(mild) XX(hot) XXX(very hot) XT(Xtreme), which came with a warning by the owner that it would kick my ass so I passed on this one. I would go back for more Baja Fish Tacos! Even though they are pricey, and I wouldn’t normally hunt this one down, this truck actually stares me down when I’m at the gym so the next time it does that again, I’ll give the shrimp tacos a try, after I have my spicy pork taco from Gogi.

EH. I got to try this food truck while at the«Eat the Street» this past Friday… and let me tell you, it was not extreme. It was more like, «EH. tacos». The hub and I waited in line for 30 minutes before finally reaching the order window. I ordered 4CARNEASADA tacos. I repeated my order just in case the lady didn’t hear. At $ 2.50 a taco, I thought that it was reasonably priced. After another 20 minutes of waiting, my order was waiting. They offered the options of hot sauce, from your tame«mild» to «XXX» which you could add yourself(from squeeze bottles).(Mind you, the line to order had grown to about 50 people during that time.) I got 4CARNITAS tacos. There was no way in hell I was going to wait any longer. I was like, seriously? Grr. Then I took a bite. The tacos were practically tasteless. It NEEDED the sauce. A lot of it. The sad thing was, it reminded me of kalua pig, but less tasty. I have tasted authentic mexican food, and these tacos don’t come close. Extreme tacos, you are not.

Hands down the best taco I’ve had in Honolulu. Fresh ingredients, simple, plenty meat and a double corn tortilla. Meat choices include carnitas, chicken, beef, shrimp, sweet pork and baja fish(fried). I ordered the carnitas(recommended by one of the guys that works there) and a grilled shrimp taco, both of which were topped with chopped onion and red cabbage. The carnitas was more of a Kahlua pork consistency, but the grilled shrimp… ah the grilled shrimp!!! Seven pieces of shrimp with a squeeze of lime. These are taco-saltimbocas! They jump in your mouth!!! Tacos seem a little small, but the price for standard meats is $ 2.50… now that’s what I’m talking about(Napoleon Dynamite!) and the shrimp is $ 3.50. Both were well portioned for the price and I was surprisingly satiated due the amount of protein in each one. AND the tortillas totally held even after the walk back to my office… that’s what I call FRESH! The fresh salsa bar was just what I needed, a little XX and a little XT(for Xtreme! I kno… totally 80’s moment) and I was in mouth heaven. NOTE: These guys were parked on University Avenue, but may have been displaced b/c it’s the teppanyaki wagon’s spot. Cute guys running the establishment(always a bonus). They use environmentally friendly containers. Try not to knock their tip can on the ground like I did… woops ;)

When I think of «Xtreme,» I think of college frat bros in the 90s drinking mountain dew.(Wasn’t there an «Mountain Dew: Xtreme»?) Xtreme tacos is one of the dozen or so trucks to inundate Oahu’s street food scene. I suppose in a year or two, you could call this place«one of the originals.» The tacos here are standard mexican street tacos — small tasty bites. The menu confused me– It was given in steps, much like at a shave ice place. «1. Pick you meat. 2. Pick your sauce. 3. Pick your combo» but when I ordered, they told me that the sauces I put on myself afterwards. So what was the point in picking my heat when I order? Anyway, just a minor confusion. I ordered two tacos ala carte. One carnitas and one sweet pork. I figured trying the two pork selections would be a good way to judge and write this review. While I was waiting, I was trying their different sauces of increasing heat intensity. I went for the Xtreme sauce, the hottest, for their name sake. I’m Vietnamese, my mother practically nursed me on Sriracha hot sauce, so I have a pretty high tolerance for spice. I must say, although this sauce was fairly do-able for me, many other people might DIE eating this. So I had the carnitas and added the xtreme sauce. It was just okay. The winner was actually the sweet pork with their mid-level hot sauce. Sweet, spicy, savory all rolled into one. After my two tacos, I’m still wondering what makes this place«Xtreme» aside from the sauce.
