It’s gigantic and cheap. That basically sums it up. I suppose it’s a decent option for those who are on a very tight budget and want food that will satisfy them for that meal and their next meal and the meal after that. It’s a big slab of burrito that will cause a big ol’ mess so get a bucket of napkins and utensils to tackle it. A few things that weren’t so stellar that I doubt I’ll ever go is the fact it can be hard to hear the workers while they’re in the truck. They also ran out of certain items after 5pm. Also, the beans were undercooked. I’ve never encountered that before with any of Hawaii’s so-called Mexican food. So that’s a big minus. Even a few bites of the rice contained hard uncooked pieces. I’m only giving them three stars since the pork was phenomenal. Very juicy and seasoned wonderfully. It’s hard to find good pork on this island most of the time so they get three stars instead for that instead of two.

these guys appear to be out of business. I was told by an ex employee that the owner got put in jail so no more truck is there now… too bad. it WAS good food.

Recent visits haven’t been as spectacular as the first one. There seems to be a problem keeping certain menu items available along with inconsistencies in the flavors.

Just tried their carnitas burrito and extremely underwhelmed. Although the burrito was huge and the price rather inexpensive the lack of seasoning in the meat as well as the salsa would keep me away from this bus in the future.

Must order: a burrito Fair warning, you should be HUNGRY when you go here. The burritos are like the size of a small infant. I call them burrito babies. I came here with a coworker after my BF gave this place a try and raved about it. The guy(owner?) was friendly and funny and that goes a long way sometimes. Especially when you’re standing in the hot sun getting food out of a truck. I ordered a carnitas burrito with mexican rice, roasted peppers, onions, corn, and completely forgot the sour cream and cilantro. Fail. When you go, don’t forget the sour cream and cilantro! I also had a churro. Like I mentioned, the burritos are HUGE. You may want to eat with a fork in case you have small hands like I do and can’t even grip it with two hands. For $ 6.50, he really packs that burrito full! The carnitas had some nice fatty pieces in it which I liked. The onions were a little undercooked but the roasted peppers and corn were great! I think next time I wouldn’t add the rice since there was a lot of it and I personally like to finish my food. It makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something. The churro was nice and hot. They were yum and while I was at the truck, the guy and I came up with a churro burrito concept with fruit and possible marscapone cheese. We’ll see if he makes it happen! I would come by again cuz for $ 6.50, you really get your money’s and belly’s worth!

So I drive by this place daily and wondered if it was any good. Checked with a few friends, but none had been here. So I was the guinea pig! Boy was I pleasantly surprised. I’ve been back 2 more times because it’s that good! I’ve had the chicken burrito with the mint/basil sauce. To be honest, I wasn’t so sure about that combo, but I figured I’d try it for $ 6.50. Damn if it ain’t a hit!!! It’s that kind of sauce that has you thinking about it later. The partner/chef has his flavors down. He says don’t worry too much about what your choosing because he’ll help you out. The second time I went back, we ordered the beef, chicken and carnitas to share and compare in our office. All of them were great, but the carnitas stood out. The pork was nice and chunky and very flavorful. There are also 3 tacos for $ 6 which I haven’t tried yet. I can’t seem to pull myself away from the burritos. You can also see flan on the menu. Go there and sort of let them help guide you. You will be pleasantly surprised. I’ve decided once a week is my limit, but who’s counting?

I just got finished eating at this truck and it was pretty good for the most part. When you order you specify what you want in it and the woman makes it to order. They had three different kinds of meat(pork, beef, or chicken) but they were out of chicken for whatever reason. They also had tacos with various options but I didn’t get a chance to try that. I had the burrito which was $ 6.50 and it contained shredded beef, spanish rice, corn, and a spicy green chili sauce. The meat was not too salty and the burrito itself was very large and very tasty. The green sauce on it tasted like it was made fresh and could easily go on steak or nachos as a flavor enhancer. The guy in line in front of us asked if he could have more on the side but the lady said they don’t make a lot of it and couldn’t give him any extra. It might be a good idea to make more of it and bottle it because I really liked it. It could easily be the thing that sets them apart from the rest of the Mexican places in Hawaii. The reason why I took away a star was because the food took quite a while because there was only one worker. She apologized saying that her partner had just left. I was thrown off by the fact that he would leave her to tend the truck by herself right before the lunch rush. That is no way to run a business because your clientele are all on their lunch hour(or half hour) and need the food prepared quickly so they can get back to the office and not have to wolf it down and get indigestion. Lunch time is perhaps the worst time to have only one worker manning a food truck IMO. There was a steak place that went out of business in the exact same spot as Dos Locos that I never came back to because it took forever to prepare my food. I just can’t afford to take 30 minutes or more of my lunch hour just waiting in line to order my food I also ordered the churros but I left instead of waiting for them(I hadn’t paid for them so I didn’t miss out) because the line was about 4 people deep and I didn’t want to hold them up just because of my sweet tooth. They missed out on some extra money just because this guy left his partner in the lurch. However, I would probably go back again because the burrito was that good but I would check the line from my office window first. If there are three people in it and only one worker then I’ll go somewhere else instead.

Mexican food in Hawaii is what it is. You cannot compare it to California Mexican food or even Chipolote for one simple reason… we don’t have those here! All I know is that my definition of Mexican food is big portions for little money and Dos Locos fits the bill. Dos Locos sells burritos for $ 6.50, three tacos for $ 6 and some desserts like churros for a few bucks. At first I was a bit confused on how to order. There is a big sign that lists the starches, meats, and toppings and I had assumed I choose one meat, one starch, and a couple fillings. However, the owner said to add whatever I like as the burrito will add up to about a pound. With that in mind I ordered mine with chicken, rice, black beans, pico de gallo, peppers, onions, and sour cream… needless to say this sucka was packed. The peppers and onions really stood out for me as they had a nice roasted flavor. The chicken that was used wasn’t the greastest as there were a couple of weird pieces of fat in there. I wish he had some«special sauces» to give the burrito a little more of a kick, but I really can’t complain as there were so much fillings it made for a pretty delicious burrito and I was absolutely stuffed afterwards. I also shared some of the tacos with my friends and we decided the best one was the Thai chicken as again, the onions really stood out with the cilantro. The Korean taco was a little bit too salty for my taste. Finding Dos Locos isn’t too hard, if you are heading down Kapiolani Blvd going towards Hawaii Kai, right before you get to Keeaumoku you’ll see a yellow truck in a parking lot. There are a bunch of parking stalls so parking isn’t an issue and a tent with chairs if you choose to eat your meal there. Most Mexican places in Hawaii are sit down and will cost at least $ 10 bucks. For $ 6.50 this place is totally worth it. Huge portion with a lot of good fillings, friendly server, and a great location right by Ala Moana. I’ll be coming back the next time I have a craving for Mexican food.

«Not quite like Chipotle» :) I would give this a 3.5 Star. but there’s no 3.5 so i have to pick 3. Went here for lunch and had the shredded beef burrito. I thought it was not bad. It’s not like Chipotle or anything but for the price of $ 6 a burrito — it’s pretty good. If I had another chance, I would actually try to Korean Kimchi Taco or the Philipino Pork. I give them credit for being creative — mixing Mexican and Asian. Hey it’s the future :) There’s parking available in the area. So try it out and give a review :) Mahalo, Jon

Build Your Own Burrito(6.50 $). All kinds of ingredients for you to chose from, so you can customize your burrito to your liking. i had the chicken and the whole thing was really big. would be even better with choice of lettuce for crunch. the chicken should be cut up into smaller pieces, so it would soak up more seasoning.

Dos Locos has the largest burriots I have ever seen! They are huge and oh so tasty! The staff inside are also amazing! You have to try this Ala Moana Food Truck! We ventured out of the office on a bright and sunny afternoon to give Dos Locos a try! The reviews on Unilocal were pretty great so why not! This truck is parked right on the corner next to our office. We had talked up this place and several co workers decided to get in on the order. Their menu is small anything you order is sure to please. The guy in the truck(didn’t catch his name but he seemed like the owner) was hilarious and sooooo friendly. He was also a little flirty! I ordered the Chicken Burrito with all the veggies, black beans, rice, and Pico de Gallo. We also ordered the Thai Chicken Tacos and other burritos. They were a hit! My burrito was very fresh and massive. I mean I just couldn’t even finish it. I was put to shame! I can’t wait to have my hubby try the tacos they looked delicious. Also, the friendly guy mentioned(after my burrito was made) that the Salsa Verde is the boom! Next time!

I’ve been looking for decent Mexican food for months, and I’ve finally found it! The Dos Locos truck is sooo good! The guys who run it are super nice and have great stories to tell. The burritos are not traditional burritos like you would find in California, but that’s why the are so good! Gotta love the experimentation! The«flavors» are really creative and the pork is so juicy and delicious. We had the chicken and pork burritos, and the pork was more flavorful. I can’t wait to try the beef. And we had the churros, which were so delicious. Great location too, right near the mall and my work. I will be going back for the tacos(for lunch) and the burritos(for dinner). They also said that they were planning on offering dollar tacos soon, which would be awesome!

OMG! I went there after reading pretty good Unilocal reviews comparing this place to Chipotles. I’ve had Chipotles. This is WAY better than Chipotles!!! I like to ask what the chefs/owners/workers recommend or like to eat. I’m SO glad I did. I don’t even know everything he put in there. He mentioned pork, cheese, refried beans, spicy salsa, tomatillos(salsa verde with PORK, my FAV). When I got back to my office, the paper bag was soaked. A good sign that it’s juicy inside. The burrito is HUGE! The tortilla is grilled. Nice touch. Totally packed with meat, not just fillers. Pork was flavorful and juicy. I think it could have been a little spicier, but then again, I like things pretty hot. Anyway, it was delish! I will definitely be back. Just tell him to make it like he eats it.

My friend suggested we try this food truck for lunch. The parking lot entrance is on Kona Iki St. You can see the yellow food truck from Kapiolani Blvd. We got there around 11:30am and there was no line. The cook asked us what we wanted and we just starred back at him. It was because he forgot to put the menu on the truck! You have a choice of either burritos or tacos. He said the burrito is about 1 pound. It doesn’t cost extra to put different ingredients inside, so you can get everything for only $ 6.50. I went with the tacos. For $ 6, you get three tacos from a selection of four different kinds. I picked the Philipino Pork, Korean Steak and Hawaiian taco. The ingredients are fixed for the tacos. The cook was friendly and easy going. We learned that Dos Locos opened recently 3 weeks ago. He even gave us a free Thai Chicken taco on the house because he said most girls like that particular one(my gf was with us). She said she liked the onions inside and he gave her a plate of just the onions too! I thought that the corn tortillas for the tacos were a little dry. They kinda broke apart as I was eating it so the insides fell out. In terms of taste, they were not bad. I liked the Philipino Pork the best, then the Korean Steak, then the Hawaiian. My girlfriend got the burrito and only managed to eat half. I took a bite and it was pretty good. I’ll create my own burrito next time, but I’m in no rush. The prices are good for the amount you get.

I can’t believe people are giving this place 4 and 5 star reviews. They need to change the category because it’s not Mexican. Just because it has a spanish name does not make it Mexican. If this place is Mexican I’m part Korean, part Chinese, with a dash of Japanese. These vatos got everything wrong. I ordered the carne asada was actually shredded beef. It was moist but I thought it was underseasoned. The one good thing about this place was the prices. For a fair price you do get a substantial portion. In my opinion Serg’s and Just Tacos are still the only Mexican joints worth visiting on this island.

Burritos were created in San Francisco! I noticed this place driving to the park where I go to run. Decided to stop in one afternoon after having lunch at Shokudo. I ordered a carne asada burrito to take home and save for dinner. The burrito held up well. its a good tasting burrito but the meat was not carne asada, more of a shredded beef. 6.50 to build your own burrito with many options is a pretty sweet deal. definitely worth a trip back.

After reading some of the reviews and also the review by Mari with Non Stop Honolulu of new places to try I decided to give this place a try. I ordered the Carne Asada Burrito and like the others I agree the meat was really juicy. I think it might of been hard for him to hear me speak since we are not eye level, me being 5’1 and him inside of the bus. I asked for no beans but they beans were there, hence it took me forever to eat this having to now pull it apart to seperate the beans. We also ordered the Thai and Korean Tacos, Korean taco was good beef with Kim Chee, however the Thai taco came with chicken that was not fully cooked. This made out lunch hour somewhat disapointing have to not eat the Thai Tacos and pulling out all the beans from the burrito. Since this establishment was new 1 week old, I will give it a second try and hopefully have a better experience. Stay Tuned.

someone once told me the burrito was actually created in texas, which made me wonder, should we be calling burritos american food? anyways, there used to be a steak plate place here, followed by a burger place, followed by a Vietnamese place. i work right across the street(and no, i do not work at suzies), and i was really bummed when the steak plate place closed down. the burger place was too expensive for me and i never got around to trying the Vietnamese place, though i always meant to. after opening last week, i decided to try this place out with my coworker. after eating there, i’ll say that i’ll probably be going back there every week. im not really picky when it comes to burritos, but this stuff is delicious. for $ 6.50, they give you a huge burrito with choke stuff inside. after reading chucos review, i tried the carne asada and he was right, the steak was tender and had lots of flavor. the onions were really good too. but yeah, the burrito was good. definitely filling. mmm awkward endingg… update 4⁄4 — My haole coworker who sometimes pretends to be asian who is also from texas, the land of the burritos, gives his full approval of this place. he said he preferred the pork to the steak. the pork was actually more flavorful and moist.

What do you get when 2 established chefs open up a taco truck? A damn good burrito, thats what. I just happened to be riding down Kapiolani Blvd(coffee hopping, as usual), when a bright yellow food truck caught my eye. I never noticed them before. And with good reason… they had JUST opened. w00tw00t!!! #first If youve ever been to a Chipotle, then you will be familiar with the concept. Its kind of like Chipotles concept, but with a twist, and big flavor. This is a BYOB joint. Thats right yeeps, Build Your Own Burrito. All kinds of ingredients for you to chose from, so you can customize your burrito to your liking. Like subway, but with burritos. And the burritos are big. I got full just looking at it.( ). I tried the chicken and the steak from the truck. The chicken was ok, but the steak was fantastic. Huge on flavor, and extremely tender. I cant wait to come back and try the carnitas(my personal favorite). And they will be serving home made flan and churros in about a week for those of you with a sweet tooth. Great location, right smack in the middle of Kapiolani Blvd. And theyre open late. 11am-9pm. Stop by and give them a try.
