Ordered a custom cake. To place orders you have to email them. I did this 6 weeks prior to needing the cake. It took three weeks for them to email me back the answers to my questions. After this, I still wasn’t sure if they were going to be making my cake because the last message the sent me said they were going to call me within 24 hours. No call… I had to leave a few voicemails for them just for them to tell me they were going to make the cake. I went to pick up the cake and was equally upset at pick up. The bakery smelled like body odor and there was a mattress and pillow on the floor at the bakery. That’s pretty disgusting. The cake did taste really great and they gave me a $ 10 discount because of the communication problems-but I can’t recommend that anyone order a cake through them. Very disappointing experience. I’d rather just make one myself next time.

I hired GI Cakes for my wedding as my coordinator’s usual baker could not create the cake that I wanted for my wedding, nor create a cake in my budget. I was a little apprehensive about hiring a baker who was fairly new to the island, but my wedding budget was being stretched thin, so I took a leap of faith. As for communication they prefer to communicate via email; however, they do take a few days(sometimes up to a week) to respond, but they do eventually respond. I was a little worried about that, as I hired them only about six weeks out from my wedding date. One thing I was happy with is that they are willing to help work with your budget. For my wedding, I ordered a three-tier cake with red velvet, haupia, and tiramisu flavors. The cake also came with beautiful sugar flowers(for extra fee) and I also ordered a dessert bar consisting of mini-cheesecakes, chocolate diamond heads, chocolate aphrodisiac and coconut cream puffs. Everything I worried about was for nothing, because they showed up on time, the cake was beautiful and everything was delicious. My guests raved about the moistness and tastiness of the cake and they each had a dessert they loved. My favorite was the mini-cheesecakes. The only thing I would recommend is to make sure you tell them what time you plan on cutting the cake and letting them know if you are having an outdoor wedding. My WC nor I asked them(as I didn’t even think about it) and my cake was delivered too early and it became lopsided by the time we cut the cake. Oh well, I was enjoying the evening too much to even be worried about it. It was still all very good.

They make some pretty good pies. Had an apple pie and you can really taste the freshness.

The deserts from G.I. Cakes are absolutely amazing. The mini cupcakes I’ve tried were the perfect size and delicious. I highly recommend G.I. Cakes and will be shopping with them for a very long time.

I was lucky enough to live right near Patricia(the owner) while stationed in Japan. Being neighbors, I was able to see and taste almost everything that went out her door. The attention to detail on her cakes is amazing. Everything made from scratch and it all tastes even better than it looks. You can’t go wrong ordering any treat from G.I. Cakes.
