You what’s great about this other then the food, which I’ll get to in a moment, is the places environment. It is so welcoming from the moment you walk in the door you are greeted with a «hello». The menu selection is great for breakfast and lunch. I have multiple favorite menu items. They regularly have great specials. But one of that really sticks out about giant view is their dog friendly area. The patio has water bowls for your best friend to get a drink before hitting canal trail again. Its that extra mile that no many place do. I recommend this place to everyone.

Randomly tucked in the corner of a parking lot on Whitney ave, this cute little brunch place should definitely increase its marketing! Its delicious! There are lots of sandwich choices as well as a large breakfast menu… & they deliver, always a plus!!! I got a hot turkey sandwich on crispy ciabatta with avocado, fresh mozzarella, L & T, with a pesto spread. Mmmmmmmmmm. Everything was made to order, and you can tell by the extremely fresh tasting ingredients. I also like how you order at the counter, but your food is still brought to your table when ready. The only complaint I have would be the fact that we waited way too long for 2 sandwiches(close to 30 min). It was busy, but, that’s a little excessive… However, Im not going to let that completely turn me off because I was very pleased with my lunch. The place also had a nice vibe. Therefore, whether you’re heading for a hike up sleeping giant, bike riding on the Farmington trail, or just passing through the area, The Giant View Café is a great spot for a quick(or maybe sometimes not so quick :-/) bite! P. s. The portions are huge, so make sure you come STARVING because I could barely finish half of my sandwich!

I had lunch at Giant View Café this weekend, and I was definitely impressed. I was meeting my little sister from Boston at a halfway point, and Giant View seemed like a good option, according to reviews here. Food was VERY reasonable and fresh. They use real chicken, not gross processed stuff. I had a panini(more like a toasted sub) with a large side of macaroni salad and the small(but actually very big) vegetarian chili, and it was $ 11. I made two meals out of it, so that’s hard to beat, especially when everything tastes fresh. I got a GIANT homemade gingerbread cookie for $ 2.50, which again was good for two desserts. My sister had an omelet which was huge, with a very generous side of home fries and some toast for $ 7. In case you’ve never been there, it’s good to know that you seat yourself and you order at the counter, but someone brings the food to your table. It was also a little chilly when I went, so if it’s cold out, it might not be too warm inside. I was very happy to support this local business because the food was so fresh and tasty, they have good vegetarian options, and they promote local charities for animals.

Giant View Café doesn’t look much from the road, but it has a lot to offer inside. I stopped in for lunch today and was surprised this adorable little breakfast/lunch place existed just across from Sleeping Giant. Their menu isn’t very extensive — standard breakfast fare and soups, salads, and sandwiches for lunch — but everything on that menu sounded wonderful. I went with one of the special paninis — the Quinnipiac — which included chicken, mozzarella(the fresh, sliced kind!), pesto, roasted red peppers, and balsamic vinaigrette. Amazing. The panini was much bigger than I expected, full of fantastic flavors, and it came out on this perfectly toasted crispy bread that stayed nice and crispy even when I saved the other half for later. The price wasn’t bad — around $ 7, including a side. The only side options were regular potato chips or potato salad, so I went for the chips. My dining companion who introduced me to this place said I couldn’t leave without a cookie, and she was right. The first thing you’ll notice when you walk in is these huge cookies in the display case. They’re as good as they look. I got a chocolate chip cookie with nuts, and it was soft, chewy, and just sweet enough. The cookies were $ 2.15 each, but they were really big, and you have to treat yourself sometimes. Note: Only open ’til 3, so get there early.

This is a quaint little café right near Sleeping Giant Park. I came because they have two different types of vegan cookies, both of which are home-made and inexpensive. They also have a vegan chili made with tvp. The tollhouse-style chocolate chip walnut cookie was really tasty and a perfect replica of the real deal. The molasses-cranberry cookie, on the other hand, was interesting, but a little less tasty. It was too dry for my likes, and quite crumbly. The café could improve if it offered loose-leaf tea instead of generic bagged varieties that you could find at any grocery store. I also think they should replace the stiff wooden chairs with more comfortable and cozy ones(and maybe put a cloth cushion on them). But I’m still glad Giant View is around and offers great vegan cookies.

The guy behind the counter was really sweet and gave us the«wedding weekend» special(switched out home fries for fruit cups) when we stopped here to use a gift certificate for two for breakfast that my aunt gave me. While the Giant’s View is not overgrown, the food was decent. The fruit cup was large and fresh. The omelette sufficed though I’d skip the cappuccino.

Known mostly as a breakfast place, the menu at Giant View is limited. You’ll find breakfast options and sandwiches for lunch. But that doesn’t mean good things aren’t happening here. If you go, order a build your own omelet for breakfast. I ordered a bacon, mushroom and mozzarella and was pleasantly surprised to find real mozz in there! No shredded stuff to be found. Extremely creamy and chewy this was the best cheese filling I’ve ever had in an omelet. This is a big plus and a reason I will go back. It is served with choice of toast and spicy home fries which are also quite good. Giant View cooks with fresh ingredients, so if you want to stop for breakfast before hitting the East Coast Greenway walking/running/biking trail directly behind it, you won’t go wrong. They are open daily until 3:00 so again, this is strictly a breakfast and lunch place.

Used to go to Duck Soup, miss it — that was then, this is now. Giant View is similar, but different. A little cleaner and a little less vegetarian friendly(in my eyes), but the food is still great and its right there on the trail — nice way to have a big breakfast and then burn it off. decent cookies. Friendly staff. Parking lot can be tricky if its busy.
