Don’t know if the food any good because the hostess doesn’t have a clue of what to do. Waited forever and she was nowhere to be found. Will not go back and waste my time again. A complete disappointment!

AMY’S BESTOFINDYPICK :) The best filet mignon in the Indy metro area, along with the Portobello mushroom appetizer. That’s all I need for a great meal in a nice atmosphere. Cocktails are also very nice. Friendly and professional service. Love this place!

The food here is fantastic. The service can be hit or miss. Tonight I had chicken with penne pasta and vodka sauce. This is the best vodka sauce I have ever had. It is so good I order some to go just to use at home. I’ve had the ribeye it the past. The ribeye is so good I ate everything including the fat. I was so tense and cooked to perfection. It is the kind of steak that makes your mouth water. We had a potato dish as an appetizer. It was like eating potatoes lacked with crack. They are that good. My wife had the sampler platter. It’s enormous. Just look at my pictures. I do want to say Chris did a great job. He was a great server. This is an Italian restaurant, but is more known for steaks. But if you order the ribeye or anything in vodka sauce you can’t go wrong.

Best steaks in Indy… I don’t know what they marinade them in but they are to die for also try the fungo appetizer don’t worry mushrooms are not my thing but the cheese they cover it in makes up for it… And wow it tast like a pice of meat. Small place with outside seating. They do not take reservations so show up and wait but it is worth it. The vodka sauce for pasta is awesome. Warning the heat catches up to you.

Driving around trying to decide where to eat, I drove past La Trattoria and decided it looked pretty good, so turned around and went back — and WOW, am I glad I did. I love meat — and really good meat. La Tra nailed a rare filet as one of the best steaks I have ever had! It tasted like Prime + Black Angus that had been dry aged for at least 28 days — when Morris, my server, said no– just marinated, I about called him a liar! Wonderful service and food. This is a restaurant that knows how to serve — I ordered an appetizer(the Stuffed Portobello Cap). It came and there was plenty of time to enjoy it and then my salad came. So many restaurants are intent on turning tables, the entrée comes 2 min after the appetizer comes and the salad comes with the entrée — not here! I ordered fettuccine with vodka sauce as a side(I planned to take at least half of each home) — what a wonderful sauce. The steak was the showpiece. I had planned on going to St. Elmo’s the next night — but, I don’t see a reason to! I hope they are able to keep their ‘small intimate’ feel and the quality of the food and servers. Wish I lived closer — but will definitely return next time I’m in Indy! For the money, this has got to be one of the best Italian Steakhouses I’ve ever been to!

I was really impressed by this place! Mama Corolla’s in Broad Ripple is usually my go-to place when I’m craving Italian and I’ve gotta say– I think the food and service was on the same level… Maybe even a little better. The ambience isn’t bad, but isn’t great either. It wasn’t very crowded(on a Tuesday) and I could hear the conversations from the tables around us because the music was so low. Everyone in the restaurant was low talking because of this. We started with the stuffed portabella, per our server, Chris’s suggestion. I usually don’t like mushrooms, but he talked me into it and I was very glad he did! Definitely heavy, but it was ooey, gooey goodness. Caesar salad next — a good Caesar, but nothing to make it unique or memorable. For dinner I had the spinach and cheese ravioli in vodka sauce and it was amazing. Looooooved the vodka sauce. My husband went with the chicken parm and it was very good, and an enormous portion. We both took boxes home, and actually ate them for once. Kudos to Chris for being an excellent server and making great recommendations. We will definitely be back.

3 staff members walked up to the front where me and my husband stood to check in and they all ignored us. Food was not very warm. Another table walked in 30 minutes after us and was served their food before us. A table of 4. We would never go back.

This is certainly hands down one of the best restaurants in downtown Greenwood. It’s located in the heart of the Madison shopping district. It’s locally/family owned and operated, and it also appears to be a well oiled /run restaurant. The décor and atmosphere was updated, contemporary/classy, bright, very pleasant and very clean overall. The tables could stand to be placed a little farther apart. It would still be a great spot to go on a date, regardless of the limited intimacy/privacy factor. The service was great and attentive, and the food was even better. Some of the staff could stand to dress up a little more to match the décor. Our table had shrimp scampi, chicken parm, and chicken and shrimp fettuccini alfredo. Everything was cooked to perfection. The portions are fair and plentiful. At the beginning of the meal for appetizers, we also had the focaccia bread and a large cheese and bread crumb stuffed portobello mushroom. They were wonderful and expertly prepared. The regular iceberg lettuce salads were OK, but could have used more fresh summer produce — like tomatoes and maybe a few cucumber slices.(There was a small farmers market next door). Hint hint They offered an upgraded and up charged salad choice of Caesar or a lettuce wedge. I am not sure how much more special these salads would have been, but I can honestly say that they should offer mixed greens in their salads, not just tasteless iceberg. They offered unlimited fresh baked sliced baguette bead with dinner along with a tasty olive oil seasoned dipping plate. The marina sauce was a little on the sweet side, but that was ok with me. They offered fresh grated Parmesan cheese along with the main course as well. The only thing I would suggest is that they offer fresh cracked pepper, or even better, individual pepper mills placed on each table along with a better quality of salt. We all sampled the key lime pie after we finished the main course. It was very good. It had a heavier texture that resembled a dense cheesecake. I was not impressed that their espresso machine was on the fritz, so we could not indulge in one with dessert. I hope they get it fixed. What’s an Italian restaurant without the espresso? And finally, they didn’t have Tiramisu on the dessert menu. That’s another no-no. I plan on coming back again. For the price, amount of food offered as well as the higher quality of the food, I can safely say that at least Olive Garden can kiss my ¼ Italian patootie from now on !!! ;o)

Mmm. what a hidden gem. It’s real treat to know that when I Unilocal for a good steak – La Trattoria came up! And it’s less than 10 minutes from my house?! Sign me up! Service was mediocre, but my goodness, did my 18 oz Ribeye steak make up for that. It has that perfect char and was smothered in butter. My god, I’m going to drown in my own drool just thinking about it. I had the choice between a 6oz filet vs. my 18oz ribeye. for a $ 1 difference. I made my bed, and I sure did lay in it! It came with a side of fettucine and that was DELICIOUS. Most restaurant alfredo is oily, but this one was creamy and delicious! I stole some of my husband’s steamed broccoli and that was oh so good!(He had the grilled chicken breasts, and it came with a side of potatoes.) The potatoes were delicious! The worst part of this all: my side salad was brown. I couldn’t even believe it. I didn’t even want to complain about it because I hate complaining. But that’s why I’m doing it here! And they definitely made up with the steak. I can’t stop thinking about it. I want to go there now. NOW.

I have eaten my share of red meat in the Indianapolis area. Capital Grille, St. Elmo’s, Harry and Izzys, Prime 47, Sullivan’s. Needless to say, I am well aquatinted with the marblings of beef. I order my steak rare, the way it ought to be. When I went to La Tra I wasn’t expecting to order steak as it is branded an Italian restaurant, but I did – I am glad that did. They source their beef from a farm in a Ohio, but that’s all they will say, understandably given the level of quality. I can say with full confidence that it is the best steak in Greenwood, and rivals, if not exceeds the dry aged filet of the Capital Grille, my personal favorite in Indy. I recently ate at Prime 47, one of the«hot new» steakhouses downtown. La Tra, exceeds the steak of Prime 47 on texture, flavor, and most of all value. Their menu in reminiscent of a late 60’s classic Italian run steak house and even features Chateaubriand, a preparation of steak rarely seen on menus today. The ambiance – also just as classic. La Tra is a must eat if you live with in 30 minutes of Greenwood and quite possibly my new favorite restaurant.

I enjoyed every bit of this. We went here for our anniversary. We were sat immediately even though they were super busy. It was a little loud since they were super busy. It’s a small place but the food was AMAZING. Tj was a great server. The only thing was their lemonade was a little on the watery side. Overall a very enjoyable experience and a place I will definitely come back.

Recently my company entertained several visitors from all over the globe for dinner at this restaurant. While the food was delicious as always, the service was absolutely awful. Specifically, we had one individual who was vegan and was the blunt of our waiters jokes all evening. The waiter even went as far as to deliver her meal claiming he had«doubled the bacon» just for her. After asking the individual to please refrain from making those comments, he proclaimed to the entire restaurant that«it’s just a joke.» I would still recommend this restaurant, however, I would not have high expectations for the service.

Based on a personal recommendation and Unilocal reviews, we tried this place and we were thrilled with everything! The food was amazing and service top notch! It’s truly a gem in Greenwood. Hubby got the steak and said it was just as good if not better than St. Elmo’s.(Nothing against them, just a point of comparison.) We highly recommend and we’ll be back! A+

It was just ok. Staff was friendly and on a weekend, the place is flat-ass packed, but after finally going on a weeknight, I’m sure I wouldn’t feel it was worth a lengthy wait. And they don’t take reservations. It’s clearly a beloved south side restaurant, but for those who are looking for a stand-out Italian place, this one is totally edible, just not something you’d want to go out of your way for, necessarily. Had a scampi pasta dish which was very heavy on the garlic. The bread was just a baguette served with some oil on a plate. Pasta sauce was ok. Based on other reviews, I should have had the vodka sauce, I guess. Not sure I’ll be back to find out. Our waiter was nice enough. They didn’t have any herbal tea for after dinner. Boo. Not everyone drinks coffee, but would still like to warm up. Just saying.

What a fantastic meal and experience! Our waitress was personable and attentive without being overbearing. It was busy, and seemed slightly cramped, but once seated, we were in our own comfortable zone. We started with the stuffed portabello mushroom. It was one, saucer plate sized mushroom stuffed with a delectable mix of spinach, Alfredo, and blue cheese. Truly one of the best apps I have ever eaten. Dinner consisted of their spicy Italian sausage over spaghetti with meat sauce. The sausage was just spicy enough for my taste and the meat sauce was above average. I do think a finer sized linguini would have been preferred, however it was still a great dish My wife had the portabello stuffed ravioli with alfredo sauce. The alfredo was creamy with the right touch of spices. The ravioli were succulent with a perfect balance of mushroom and cheese. Another great dish. La Trattoria may be on the higher end of the casual dining scene, especially for Greenwood, but it is well worth it. The next visit will be for a steak, which I hear is the real signature offering. Hey Helen, I know you love Vito’s, but you have to give this place a try!

A group of 10 went here and we are fans. Despite it being a busy Saturday night, they were able to seat all 10 of us together. I did call ahead but it wasn’t too much of an advanced notice. The waiter came out and gave us all water, took our drink orders, and let us browse the menu. I had the cab sav for a wine and the ravioli with vodka sauce. My oh my, was I pleased. I’m not usually a huge fan of Italian food, but this place was pretty good. The sauce wasn’t runny, it was nice and stable. The food didn’t have a «fresh out of the freezer» taste which I appreciated. And the staff was very nice. All the food came out hot and in impeccable time. There wasn’t anything to complain about. Does the food especially stand out in comparison to other Italian places? Not really… but this is a very good restaurant with good food and good service.

I’ve eaten here a number of times and have never regretted it. It’s got a cozy feel and the service is always good regardless of whether it’s a large group or just me and my husband, though I think it’s more suited to small groups or couples. That’s just my preference. As far as the food goes, I’ve never had anything there that I didn’t enjoy, but I love pasta of any variety, so I’m easy when it comes to Italian. Basically, it’s a great place for a dinner out. Try it, you won’t be sorry.

This is one of our favorite restaurants of all times. I recommend the mushroom appetizer and filet is out of this world good! I’ve been to many steak houses but I have to say these steaks beats them all! The chef sampler is also fantastic! I’ve had most things on menu. Everything is so yummy!!! I’ve not had their dessert, always too full from all the fantastic food.

This little place has not received the notoriety that it deserves. I’ve eaten at every steak house in Indy more than once and La Trattoria is now at the top of that food chain. This surpasses some of the big players for a steak. Try the escargot, the 8 oz filet and the wedge salad. Not to mention the Crème brûlée!!! Pay no attention to the negative reviews of this place.

I was here with my wife and a group of friends here for dinner. This was my first visit to La Trattoria and I was not disappointed. I had the spaghetti with the spicy Italian sausage and very much enjoyed my dinner. For our appetizer, we had their meatballs and enjoyed them as well. We did like the complimentary bread and the salads that were served before the main meal. The service was very good and attentive. Overall, we had a good dinner and experience at La Trattoria. I’m looking forward to my next visit.
