Took my soon to be Daughter-in-law for a Duchess Tea. It was amazing! A beautiful setting and wonderful food! We liked the chicken salad sandwiches the best. We had 3 different teas that went with everything well. We never felt rushed and the wait staff was not overbearing, which I appreciate. Will so come back to try their Chicken Velvet soup. Thank you for making it a very special day for us.

I’ve been a fan of this place for a couple of years, and would recommend it for anyone looking for a nice brunch with a couple of people. The food and service have always been excellent, so I recently decided to host a baby shower at Sassafras. I was very disappointed to find that both the food and service for a large party were sub-par to my normal experience. Despite booking and informing of the number of potential guests nearly 2 months in advance, the tea room ended up overbooking on the day of the baby shower. We were put into a very small, cramped room, and I was not informed of the overbooking until I called the week before the shower to confirm our food count. The food portions we received on the day of the shower were much smaller than the typical food portion, even though the price was marked up to $ 14/person(compared to about $ 10/person individually). The owner did provide cupcakes free of charge to compensate for the overbooking, but when our bill came I was surprised with a 30% gratuity! I would have highly recommended this place prior to my baby shower experience, but this has left such a bad taste in my mouth that I’m unlikely to visit again, and certainly wouldn’t host another event here.

We just stopped by this cute tea room for lunch after hearing about it from our friends. It was sooooo good! My husband had the panini sandwich and I had the chicken salad. They were both great. We also had soup to start: chicken velvet and butter nut squash. Awesome! The blackberry cobbler was to die for!

I went to Sassafras this weekend for a bridal shower. The place is adorable, and so are the mismatched antique teacups and tea kettles(one was shaped like a lighthouse!). My lunch(the vegetarian option) was a tasty, fancier tea sandwich version of a grilled cheese, and a side salad with a sweet vinaigrette. We also had mini scones with blueberries and white chocolate chips, and a white cake with a blueberry stripe. The cake fell apart on my fork but tasted great. They offer a variety of tea flavors, so it would be fun to get a full afternoon tea here!

Another first time visit. Wanted to try before committing to an English Tea. Ordered a bag of scones. six soft scones with white chocolate chips and blueberries! All of us loved them. Found our they also come with lunch orders so still had six to take home! At home our grandson loved them! I had the Sassafras Tortellini Salad which was very satisfying, my wife had the Pear and Walnut Spinach Salad With Raspberry Vinaigrette which she enjoyed and our daughter-in-law had the Poached Salmon Salad with Caper Dill Dressing. She complained that while the salad was good the salmon portion was small and bland. We shared an order the special asparagus quiche which included a side salad. It was light and tasty. Good for the ladies, but maybe not enough for a Hungry Man. The ladies enjoyed the rose tea. I opted for the coffee which was weak to my taste. The setting was intimate, mostly mature ladies out for lunch and tea. Great displays of miniature and regular tea sets for sale. We may return to try the Empress Tea on Saturday with our Grand Daughter!

I have wanted to try this restaurant for a while. So a few weeks ago a coworker and I went at lunch time, and were surprised to find they were booked solid. Ladies were spilling out the door and we found out you have to have reservations to get a seat at this Greenwood tea room. So, we left and ate somewhere else that day. A week later my Mom had a meeting in Greenwood and we agreed to meet for lunch. I called ahead to make reservations, and we were seated right away once we arrived. We had an excellent server who let us know that the quiche of the day was either asparagus or spinach. We each ordered that along with a pomegranate ice tea. It was terrific! Not only was the mini-quiche delicious, but it was beautifully plated with a small side salad with an excellent vinaigrette and topped with an array of nuts. Also on the plate was a cup of fruit salad and a small scone. All this for 9.95 each +tax and drinks. The food was terrific! I did make reservations for that coworker and I to go back. I had the quiche again, while she tried a fancy grilled cheese sandwich. It was still great, and I plan to go back as often as I can. Greenwood is lucky to have such a quaint little restaurant right downtown.
