I just needed something fast for my starving family. Take-out is simple enough. Service was nice and fast. They took my order right away and told me the wait would be 15 min. Trying to find a clean booth to wait at was not an easy task however. Most of the booths and tables looked as if a they had a 3 year old party on them. Leftover food, parts of crusts on the booth seats, napkins on the floor… Where’s the table cleaners? I finally found a decent booth to wait at. As I was waiting, I noticed a guy bring out a few boxes in the back. He started to pull out pizza crusts. Wait what? Pre-made Pizza crusts? And… all this time I thought they made their own crusts. 1 star just flew away. Bummed. It’s hard to find a really good pizza place that makes their own crust anymore and have good toppings. Someday, I will start my own pizza cart and prove to the world it can be done. I guess I just need to stick with making my own pizza.

Sunset Family Pizza takes extreme pride in going above and beyond in both quality and service. The pizzas are simply like none you’ve ever tasted. The menu suggestions are unique and flavorful(think housemade garlic cream sauce and fresh, local ingredients), but you can also customize just about any combination of toppings you can think of. The entire staff, from the kitchen to the counter to the management, is at the top of their game. Spike and Tommy run a flawless ship, and Crystal’s professional attitude and attention to detail display a maturity well beyond her years. I can not recommend this spot more highly. Stop in, you will not be disappointed.

So I’m a regular at sunset, often ordering 3 times a week when I’m working. Well tonight I was pretty disappointed. First, I understand that at 930 you don’t deliver anymore for the night, but the food shouldn’t suffer because of the time. Both of my sandwiches, which I get and have enjoyed for sometime we half assed to say the least. There was no sauce, the bread wasn’t toasted like it has in the past, and there was no lettuce. The fries were undercooked and my side of onion rings were overcooked, almost burnt. I asked for ranch, and got what I thought were 3 filled containers, but they were filled maybe ¼th the way. Is this what is becoming of what has been a safe choice for so long?

i’m not sure what all the hype is about with this pizza place. we did like their ‘pitchers’ of soda — a great idea for us who can drink lots of soda at a sitting. hubby’s sausage/pepperoni/jalapeño pizza was alright. he was hoping for something good. good enough to come back for. sadly this is not the case. my garlic/bacon/cheddar burger had great toppings. the garlic was scrumptious, the shrooms plentiful and yummy, the cheddar reallly good and thick. the burger itself… reminded me very much of my brother’s grilled frozen patties. there’s something undeniably the same and tasteless about frozen burgers.

Food was great. Steve is an asshole. Very rude over the phone. Other than him, it’s a great pizza

The staff is friendly, the food is delicious(the barbecue chicken pizza is fantastic,) and the arcade is very fun. The wait is short compared to other pizza joints. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good family fun night.

We were nervous about the potential lack of vegan options in this small town and thought we’d try Sunset Pizza. We were pleasantly surprised that they carry Daiya vegan cheese!!! The vegan pizza was delicious!!!

Sunset Family Pizza, I will always remember you as a great spot and I hope to come back for a visit at some point in my life. Me and my two friends were doing a road trip, all the way from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to Santa Cruz, CA. We had been driving for awhile and it was maybe 8:30 pm when we entered the little town of Gold Beach. We had no idea where to eat because we had never been to this town in our lives. But we did love pizza. So when we saw the sign for ‘Sunset Family Pizza’ we all agreed to give it a try. Walked inside and were greeted by a friendly chap behind the counter who helped us figure out what we were hungry for. We go it figured out and ordered two medium pizzas because we were really hungry. Went chose a booth to sit at but that didn’t last long. The restaurant is so spacious and large that went exploring. Found out that there is a large arcade/game room in the back. My friends immediately struck up a game of pool. I kept wandering around, watching the sun set over the ocean, making the beach truly gold. It was gorgeous. I told my friends I would go sit at the booth and just eat when the pizza came. Which is what I did. Pizza arrived fresh and hot and I enjoyed the first few pieces without my companions– aaaaaah! Too good to share. Eventually they finished their pool game and were amazed that I had just been sitting and eating pizza! The owner came to our table(same guy that helped us order) and he told us some of the history of the place. It is truly a Family Pizza joint, all the staff are relatives I believe. And that made us as customers just feel right at home. Another neat thing about the place is that they display art from local artists on the walls. I appreciated that. After a satisfying meal we went outside to leave. The family was all gathered around the back door and they told us happy things as we got in the SUV and drove off into the blackness of night. The owner also told us a good spot to camp about 40 minutes further down the road. So that was helpful. It’s always a little harder to find a good camping spot after dark when you don’t know the area. Cheers!

The pizza tastes like papa Murphys. So it’s definitely not good enough for a pizza place! Avoid it if you can

Excellent Pizza. Always get it to go or delivered so can’t comment on dining in but the Pizza is full of toppings with a good crust. My favorites are the combo and the Mediterranean

I’m a pizza lover and firm believer in no bad pizza some are just better than others. We came here while visiting town, after a jet boat ride just wanting something simple. The pizza was ok at best. The cheesy garlic bread was gross, and the employees were rude. Definitely won’t return. Husband did like his beer on tap though and we were able to watch some college football.

My husband and I came her with our kids on out vacation cause it looked like a nice little pizza joint. I waited on the car while my husband went in cause we where taking it to go. I was getting curious when it felt like my husband had been gone forever… 55 min to be exact for a to go order. After my husband got back to the car he told me that he sat there and waited in the assigned waiting area for our food. He walked around while the staff looked right at him. When they took his order they also took his name in his thinking that they would call it when the pizza was done but nope… after a little while he went up to the desk and asked the staff when his pizza would be done and they told him«oh its been done we thought you left» when he told them that he had been waiting in there waiting area they laughed and told him«no one ever Waits there.» Like he would know being from out of town. Our pizza was cold and not very good. Not much flavor. NEVERGOINGTOTHISPIZZAPLACEAGAIN!!!

The gluten free pizza here was very good! My husband was alergic to gluten and he said it was the best gluten free pizza he’s had in a long time! Only thing is you have to get it in a medium and it’s 14 dollars for a pepperoni pizza.

With the kids we stuck to one pepperoni & bacon and one plain cheese. There was considerable grease left on the pan from the pepperoni & bacon, but they were both really tasty. This is a great place for big groups since there’s lots of seating.

Good spot and family friendly! Fresh! Pros: –we had a gluten free crust combo pizza, which was delicious and fresh. They loaded the toppings on which was awesome. And I mean loaded. –sweet potato fries were yummy — not fancy, reminded me of 1980s pizza house with video games in the establishment. But does have ocean view. It’s not right on the water but several tables have a semi-ocean view. — family run Cons: — there’s no wait service. You order at the counter and they bring the food out. Not a huge deal, but I’m lazy. –had a couple flies buzzing around. But it’s a huge place and wasn’t what I would consider problematic. Totally recommend!

Do you want repeat customers? I’m guessing not. Have you ever seen a restaurant fix up show where they point out all the wrong compared to the little that’s good, then envision Sunset Family Pizza. 1. Not enough staff ready to greet customers. 2. No sign stating seat yourself or wait to be seated, give us a clue here people. 3. Who’s staff? Your all wearing street clothes. Even a polo shirt that signifies that the person standing at the end of the counter looking dumb is staff and not a customer with a question would help. 4. Ever hear of hair nets? 5. Come to work clean please. 6. Don’t leave my food in the window so you can talk with friends about nothing, then roll your eyes when you’re told for the fourth time to bring deliver the customers order. 7. When I am done eating and making payment, talk to me, I got…”$ 19″, «sign here» and that’s it??? 8. Don’t have 9 staff members in the parking lot smoking and taking a break…, at least one of them said«have a nice night». The good? Pizza is kinda ok, not as flavorful as other reviews made me expect. Place looked clean enough, other than that there is nothing that will make me go back and dole out my money… Oh, and if you write an honest review, expect a reply from the staff who obviously don’t get along.

We stopped by for a late lunch here. This place is definitely the kind of place you’d bring your kids’ soccer team to. Big tables, and an arcade! We ordered at the counter, cash only as mentioned, and then hit the back room to play pinball, which was a treat! The guy at the counter brought our pizza and water back to us, and we were able to gaze out at the ocean through the large windows. We ordered a medium margharita pizza for the two of us, and it was delicious! Fresh tomatoes, garlic, basil, and tons of cheese! I totally recommend the pizza!

3.5 stars. Nice and large, friendly service and enjoyable pizzas. Only downsides are cash only + seating is very uncomfortable in the booths(need to be re-sprung).

Wonderful place. and HUGH! Not just pizza either, although that’s what we each had. We each got a mini, me with pepperoni and olives, my hubby had Canadian bacon and pineapple. Just the right size for lunch. Very friendly people too. Had to stand at the counter to order, but they brought everything to us. I’d come back again.
