If you want to stop in for a drink or a few you will find a good selection and good service. No this is not a ‘grill’. I personally am intrigued by what some call ‘dive bars’ and this offered good people watching while enjoying a typical mixed drink. I appreciate all aspects of a community and so we may eat somewhere else, but enjoy drinks here.

A run down dive bar with a microwave for a kitchen. Part of the old guard in establishments in Gold Beach. This place has not seen an upgrade since the last mill closed here over 20 years ago. Just entering this place makes you feel like you have a drinking problem. It’s dark and dated. Perfect for the one who cares little about the surroundings beyond your beverage. Friendly staff will accommodate you at a long bar with ripped seat covers. A good place for a serious drinker to go hang out with like minded others. Careful leaving this place, the police station is across the street and down a block. Not for the discerning.

Such a good hole-in-the-wall. The bartender was friendly and they had a nice selection of local brews on tap. Perfect stop in while visiting Gold Beach!

I like the Sea Star and should give it another star but I don’t want to get involved in star inflation. I read some of the other reviews and agree with some and not with others. First of all it is not a Mexican joint or grill. The menu is from the restaurant next door which you can order from the bar and they bring it over for you or you can simply walk through the opening in the wall between the two businesses and get your food. Very simple. The menu is primarily seafood and looks inventive and inviting. If it had not been so late and I not been so full I would have loved to have dived into the depths of that menu and wallowed around awhile. The bar is basic coastal. Which if that is not your cuppa then perhaps you are in the wrong place in the first place. Don’t blame the bar for being what it is. There is a smoking patio out back(could use some esthetic improvements, video poker, pool tables and what looks like a karaōke area in the back. Prices are reasonable $ 2.25 for PBR in bottle and the liquor selection was decent. They appeared to be inclusive(unlike the Crow’s Nest down the street). The night I was there it was mostly female couples… musta been ladies night. I would come back again.

Grill? When I was there last week, it was just a bar. …and a pretty odd one at that. Didn’t get the friendliest vibe after I told the bartender I was from California. Instead of sports, HBO was blaring on the TV. Attempts to make conversation were futile. I finally left after I finished my drink. Truly a «locals bar».

Just ate here while staying in Gold Beach for the night. Its a mexican place attached to a bar. Really quiet on a Thurs night, even though it was full – needed a bit more music I think. Pretty good mexican food, good price, good salsa. Definitely a good spot, glad we chose it over the questionable looking seafood places around.

Four stars for value and friendly service. This is a nice family-owned place. It’s a small town and I think the menu is more Tex-Mex than anything authentically mexican, but the food is very very affordable and the portions are generous. A good stop if you’re driving through on the way to the beach.

Though the name contains«grill», this is really just a bar, or so it seems to me. While there were several customers, none of them were eating. We picked a table and sat… and waited… and waited a bit longer to be acknowledged. Just as we decided to go somewhere else and got up, a lady brought us menus. But it was too late by then. If you want to enjoy a pitcher of beer over a game of pool, Sea Star is probably okay, but it’s not a place to come to for dinner.

I was passing thru town and stayed ina motel next door to this joint. It was a great spot and very reasonable. We drank all nite(2 of us) ate some snacks and the bill came to around $ 45. Mary, the bartender, was a sweetheart. I left a sweatshirt there and they were nice enuff to send it to me! This place gets a 10 for service, price, and atmosphere.
