Tried 5 wine tastings and this was my least favorite. All were way too sweet, tasted artificial, and just kind of didn’t taste like wine. Not impressed though I really liked their tasting glasses with the little star on the back

#258−2016: Who would have thought the Lone Star could host wineries that produced actual decent wine… The Fredericksburg Winery is a prime example of such wine culture. With a store convinently located right on Main Street, the potential costumer is invited to a sampling of their wine selection. 10 $(rather stiff price if you ask me) and a personalized«tour» for the merriment of your alcoholic tastbuds. Knowledgeable staff, though wine culture and wine aficionados may argue they sound too rehearsed and only superficially in the know. For those you may request, there are guided tours of the actual winery. Since this is a place of business, there is quite the selection of extras(jam, sausages and such) that may accompany the wine purchased. Prices are on the higher side of things but, this isn’t no supermarket wine. All in all, if you are driving through Fredricksburg, make an effort to stop by and give it a try.

The only positive is you keep your glass for the price of a tasting. You get to pick out five tastings for $ 10…I dumped all but one of mine. No flavor complexity, young tasting, & way to sweet for my liking. If this had been the only winery in the area I would never buy TX Hill Country wine. The older man doing the tastings for us sure thought he was funny as well but more offensive than anything. Don’t waste your tastebuds on this place… a tourist trap for sure just drive on down the road.

If I could give no stars I would! Very rude and unenthusiastic when we asked information about their wines.

We road trip across country several times a year. One of our favorite things to do is stop at local wineries. It’s fun to fill our wine racks during these trips. When we’re home we get to enjoy the wine with memoirs of the trip. We usually spend a couple of hundred dollars or more at each winery. Our first stop in Fredericksburg was at this winery. When the sales lady asked if we would like to sample I told her I needed to use the restroom before we started sampling. She informed me they did not have a public restroom and directed me to go one block to the left or one block to the right of the winery to use the restroom. Now this may not seem like such a big thing to some of you. However not being a young woman it’s not easy walking a block with a full bladder safely. And I can understand why you may not want everyone off the street using your restroom, however you may want to rethink that. So we left the winery to find a restroom. Just a short walk from the winery a bracelet in the window of the Texas Silver Rush caught my eye. My partner asked if I wanted to go inside. I told him I had to find a restroom before we could shop. The owner of the Silver Rush overheard me and invited me in to use their restroom. Because of his kindness I spent the money I would have used for wine in his store. The wine may be good, but I’ll never know because I needed to use the restroom.

While trolling the streets of Fredericksburg, we decided to stop into the Fredericksburg Winery to check it out. It’s a small but cozy little place and one lady was working behind the bar area. She greeted us right away while she was helping another couple. We decided to try some of the local craft brews they had. We wanted to try the Revolver Blood and Honey, but her keg ran out before she could fill the second cup, so she only charged us for one! #winning! It was super tasty and we decided to have a seat and finish it before we headed back out. They do allow plastic cups on the street if you want, but we needed to sit down for a minute. I checked out the place and noticed a beverage case that had a great craft beer bottle selection. I would definitely check in again next time I’m in town!

Had a wonderful time here. The woman helping us had good suggestions and we had a fun time tasting the different wines. I opted for a bottle of the dry Riesling but the sweeter wines were nice. We even bought a bottle of the Christmas wine which is supposed to be served warm — super delicious! Good people good wine good time

So… My GF, a coworker and I wandered into this place on 12÷5÷15 after lunch, and an hour-plus drive from Castroville. We’d never been before, and I can tell you we will never go back. The woman who«helped» us with the samples was exceedingly rude and arrogant. She insisted we had to taste the wine in exact order — Dryer to sweeter — And you can’t go backward. It was more of an order than a suggestion. Wow. Really? If she’d made it more of a suggestion in the context of a learning experience, we might have received it better. But… she was serious, and pretty sour in demeanor. Then we moved down the counter to do our tasting. Again, the Wine Nazi struck. My GF asked me if I wanted a taste of hers, which I did. I took a taste, and Frau Blücher admonished me: «Don’t drink from others’ glasses.» Something about it screwing up my palette, which isn’t that discerning anyway. Now, some more thoughts/observations: — We were first told that a taste of a wine consists of a small first sip to adjust our palettes, then another to evaluate the wine. We were never offered a second taste. — We were never offered crackers or water between tastes, or to rinse our glasses. Kind of ruined our hostess’s credibility after all the other bull she was slinging. — Frau Blücher said three of the wines we tasted were«our best-selling» wines. Nice The overall experience was pretty crappy. Only one of the three people working the counter was pleasant. The other two(male & female) were pretty unpleasant human beings. I suppose I should’ve known better than to visit a «winery» that is housed in what looks like a former grocery store. In stark contrast to this place, the next place we visited(Chocolat), right next door, was filled with superbly pleasant young ladies behind the counter. I shall neither visit nor recommend this place again. P. S. Only one of the wines we tasted was worth beans.

Cuvée II2014 Montepulciano is AWESOME. The winery it’s self is not«nettled in the picturesque grape lined hill side». Rather it’s an old store converted in the west end if main(by an out of this world chocolate shop) that have Great employees to help you taste what ever u want for FREE and tons of wine varieties to choose from. Go. Support them.

Worst customer service I have ever encountered. Was helped at counter by a lady named Sandy. She was very rude and arrogant. Wanted to taste wine in front of what we already had sampled and she said we could not. I guess she didn’t realize we were paying for it. Ended up leaving and not buying anything. Will definitely pass the word to people we know not to shop there. I do believe we will take our business elsewhere. Sorry Sandy, you could use a class in customer service. owners might want to have a talk with her about how to treat customers…

This winery is on the main strip in Fredericksburg. I assume as such they get a ton of people. I didn’t like how they do their tastings. They have bottles on the counter and tell you to pick six for a free tasting. They have nothing on them. They break them down by the level of sweetness and tell you once you get to a certain level of sweetness you can go backwards, which makes sense. I would like to know more about the wines. If you ask questions they will answer them. However, the entire experience was so rushed. OK what do you want next? Umm can my friends and I discussed what I just had? They make all their wines in the building. They have other things to purchase in the location. When we were there only one other foursome was«tasting» so I am still not sure why the rush. It would be nice if they had something to read about each wine and slow down. Overall their wine is very sweet. You will not find a big bold red here. If you are on the strip stop by but I wouldn’t go out of my way to stop here. There are no bathrooms here.

RUDE nasty ANDUNPROFESSIONAL storekeeper(female). We walked in and she immediately had an ugly attitude directed at us. It was 1:07 on Wednesday afternoon on 09/09/2015 and We are THEONLY customers in the store. We are on our Honeymoon with cash in our pockets, looking to try a few wines in hope of findings a few we can serve at our reception in a couple of weeks. I am utterly flabergasted at the treatment we received. I will use this experience as a learning tool for my Customer Service Team at work. God Bless. Mary and Ken Redding

So touristy. Corny jokes. Mandated tasting if it’s out of order you can’t taste. They push what they need to sell first then throw the one good bottle at the end. Factory feel, and if you’re not done they push you off to let you know where you can buy the wines in the store and that’s it. Came for my birthday and was very disappointed.

We walked in, there were 2 ladies working… Both ignored us for 5 minutes while tending to another couple that was there. Not even a «hello» «we’ll be with you in a minute»… Nothing. After 5 minutes, we got tired of being ignored and left. Nobody even noticed! I wouldn’t go here again.

Worst service, of my entire life!!! If there was any way to give this no star on Unilocal I would, anyone giving this place above one star obviously feels sorry for them, Fredericksburg should be happy this was not our first stop in their town if it was, we would have went back home immediately!!! The husband and wife who run this place apparently hate each other and take it out on their customers!!! By reading some of the other reviews I am glad I see I am not alone, we were there to buy wine, but these people do not care, we left and went to the next winery and bought 6 bottles!!! if you go here exit immediately!!!

Only gets 2 stars because the tasting was free. Mostly only sweet wines, so if you don’t like them don’t even bother. Woman who helped was very grumpy and obviously been drinking most of the day. Whatever you do, don’t try to stop the tasting or go backwards on her list. «You can’t go back! Only sweeter!» Eventually I would only take a single sip and put it down. So sweet, not good to me. We did end up buying the spiced wine though for the holidays coming up. That one was actually good, but served warm.

Very small winery located next to Chocolat. Unlike the other wineries I visited, Fredericksburg Winery doesn’t have a fancy setup with multiple bars. It is located in a strip mall and set up like a small store with the wine making machine in the back of the store. There is also not a charge to try four wines. The lady that assisted us also allowed us to try their Christmas Blend wine with cinnamon. She microwaved it giving it a unique taste. I think most of the ladies in my group purchased the Christmas blend and several other bottles of wine there. One of the ladies I was with came in specifically for the Gerwurztraminer which I thought was entirely too sweet. During our visit, we witnessed a customer get upset from one of the employees telling her she should not taste the crackers & jellies the winery had laying out before tasting wine as it would ruin her palate. They also strongly insist you try wine in order from dry to sweet. If you attempt to get out of order, they will quickly remind you. I feel the employees here are friendly and knowledgeable. Just remember, they have certain rules in place.

Wow. In an otherwise friendly town, this place has such incredibly rude service that even with good wines I would give it one star. The woman behind the counter was condescending and patronizing from the start, even after I told her that I work in the wine industry. She was incredibly rude and acted as if it was too much trouble to serve me in any way. Though the service is terrible, the wines might be even worse. Everything was sickeningly sweet with absolutely no flavor complexity. There are at least a half dozen better places in town. Definitely do not go here if you’re in Frederiksburg.
