Stayed at The Cedar Suite upstairs. Our friends had the other suite next to us. This thing was built in 1850 so it has great character. All the modern amenities are included(they’re just not the latest styles) and getting to just hang out on the 2nd story big porch & share drinks w//friends was great. Also, it is in the«heart» of downtown so its easy walking everywhere. The only drawback is the shower had a very low ceiling, but again, this thing was built in the 1800’s, so I give that a «pass». Fun times.

We stayed in the Pecan Suite at The County Cottage Inn, which is one of the more«economic» Bed & Breakfast options in the town of Fredericksburg. Calling this place a B & B is a bit of a misnomer as they do not serve breakfast, even though on the«First Class Reservation Service» website this B & B is listed as serving a Contenental Breakfast. Instead of a B & B breakfast, we were given two $ 10 food coupons that were good for four eateries. It was nice to get the food coupons and the wine tasting coupon, but that doesn’t replace the breakfast part of the«Bed and Breakfast» experience. For some reason, we were unable to lock our room with the key we were given. No biggie, we just put our valuables in the trunk of our car. Lucky we had a car or that could have potentially been really problematic. Now that is out of the way, I can talk about how much we actually liked the place. The building is one of the oldest two-story structures in Fredericksburg. The limestone home was built in 1850 and was turned into a B & B at some point. The floors are wood and the rooms are furnished with antiques. The bed was also extremely comfortable. There was a private suite next door to us on the first floor, but it was empty the weekend we were there, so we had the entire first floor to ourselves, including the kitchen. Our suite was also in the back of the house, so some of the street noise was blocked out by the suckers who paid more money to have the front suite with the porch. Since we were really only in the room long enough to sleep and grab a shower, this was great for us. The location is fantastic. We walked /stumbled everywhere in town from our B & B, and we were a few hops away from a good breakfast spot, the museum, and a wine bar.
