The Roadrunner Inn is a beautiful little gem that is conveniently located right on Main Street. I felt like I was stepping into some secret place when we opened the door that ‘s situated between two shops and easy to overlook if you’re not seeking it out. I booked through a B&B service online and was so in love with the funky mid century modern look of the place that I did not seek out further reviews-including not consulting Unilocal.Shame on me! Just like another reviewer mentioned, it is loud at night. There is a beer garden right next door and we had the room closest to it. It was great when we sat out on the patio, drinking wine and listening to the music. It was like being in a private room at a cool party. When we went to bed, it wasn’t all that cool anymore. Keep in mind that I have the ability to sleep in under just about any conditions: airport chairs, concrete floors, head on a picnic table, drooling all over the place… you get it, I can sleep almost anywhere. The noise from the beer garden was so loud that I was awakened several times from my wine enhanced slumber. I didn’t mind so much other than it was a surprise. A heads up from the staff would have been very much appreciated. That’s why I’m giving all you lovely Unilocalers a heads up… so you are not surprised. The bed was super comfy. The pillows were great. The décor was so gorgeous. The towels were fluffy. I will stay there every time I go to Fredericksburg because I loved it so much. There were no beaded cushions, lace curtains or cherub knick knacks and you’re right on Main Street!

If you’re looking to get away from the sea of doilies and flowery curtain B&B’s, you gotta try out Roadrunner Inn. It’s right on Main Street above a couple of cute shops and JUST across the street from Auslander! That was a huge selling point for us, since drinking German beer until we stumbled across the street was exactly the type of time we were looking to have. The décor is modern homey 70’s. Think colors of oranges and avocado. There’s a cute kitchen area that has a microwave, little fridge and dishes that we used to nuke our breakfast on Sunday. The king bed was really comfortable and we really didn’t want to leave! The bathroom had a good shower and a whirlpool tub. Rooms 1 and 2 overlook the next door beer garden. The beer garden that has music until 2am. We stayed in Room 3. It was much quieter but you still could hear the music. Not enough to wake you up but if you happened to be up you probably wouldn’t be able to go to sleep. So, be forewarned. But if you were planning to be up, at said beer garden until, say 2am this would be a perfect locale for you! You are given a $ 6 voucher per person for breakfast that you can cash in at 3 different places. We were in town for Saturday and Sunday… and only one of the 3 bakeries were open on Sunday. Saturday we went to Rather Sweet. OMG bestill my heart. So good we used our Sunday vouchers on Saturday too and got breakfasts to go. You’ve got to try the cheese and bacon scone… wait, that’s for another review. Skip the other two and go to Rather Sweet. All in all, if you are going for a GOOD time, this would be a great place to stay. If you are going for a QUIET time, well, it’s not really. We’ll stay again!

My husband and I have stayed at the Roadrunner Inn four times now. It’s our go-to spot for a weekend getaway. We always leave feeling relaxed and happy. We’ve stayed in all three rooms. As a previous reviewer pointed out, Rooms 1 and 2 are next to the restaurant next door, which has an outdoor area and live music. If you think you will be bothered by this, then choose Room 3. Yes, when we stayed in Rooms 1 and 2, it was a bit louder in the evening, but if this ruins your stay, then you are not paying attention to the other great qualities of the Roadrunner Inn. Each room is carefully decorated with modern and vintage furniture and décor. You can tell that a lot of thought went into planning the spaces. It’s definitely not your average B&B with tacky floral bedding and weird granny lamps. The ceilings are high and the rooms feel airy and clean. The kitchenette is perfect for storing leftovers, beer(hello – you are in Fredericksburg!), and making coffee in the morning. The king-size bed is fantastic, with super soft, comfortable linens. I’ve never slept better – even in my own bed! Now, let’s discuss the Jacuzzi tub. Tired after a day of strolling along the streets of Fredericksburg? Hello, relaxation and luxury! Speaking of strolling the streets, the RRI is located in a perfect spot on Main Street. You don’t need to use your car at all! You can easily walk to restaurants, shops, and the Nimitz Museum and Museum of the Pacific War. My only complaint is that two of the three restaurants where you can redeem your breakfast voucher are closed on Sundays. My tip is to go to Rather Sweet bakery on Saturday morning and buy breakfast for both days with your vouchers. It’s the best one and there are so many choices for breakfast that you’ll want to try everything anyway!

I use the Unilocal Droid app a ton but I’m not a poster… until now. The Roadrunner fell so far below my expectations, I feel obliged to post. Our room, #2, was directly over a beer garden with first live music then they turned on the outside speakers. Because there is nobody onsite at the Roadrunner and the only contact is a reservation service, there was nobody to contact about it. I emailed the person who handled the reservation around 11:00 that night, It is now days later, still no response. On the plus side — it is a beautiful space with great decorating. And it was kind of nice to be the only people there.

i’ve been holding on to this secret and i’m about to burst! this is the only place to stay in fredericksburg if you are not a fan of doilies. the design aesthetic is wonderful — a combination of mid-century modern & antique, with a touch of steampunk. each room has a tiny kitchenette and the largest room also has a lovely zen-inspired balcony. very thoughtfully decorated, with sitting areas and fabulous bathrooms. there are only three rooms, so reserve early if it’s a busy weekend in the village of fredericksburg. a lovely way to escape to central texas wine country and not get lost in the plethora of b&bs. be sure to visit the boutique below; it could easily reside on south congress in austin.
