Was not impressed. My husband and I both got the specials. His was 5 little scallops 3 of them were not even browned. Mine was chicken with artichoke hearts with spinach pasta. It had no flavor, I could not even eat it. My son was the only one who ate his food and enjoyed, he got Chicken Parmesan. I wish I would of tried something else.

Great dinner Tuesday night! Kathleen our waitress was amazing! We loved the clams and the Chicken Saltimbocca! A very old school vibe that works! Classic Eureka!

My mother and I came here for dinner on a Wednesday and really enjoyed our meal. We were well taken care of and my Cioppino was amazing. I gave it 4 stars because my mother’s chicken parmesan did not impress her. I would recommend it for others in the area to visit.

If I could put zero stars I would. The food was bland and not impressive. The wait staff was equally unimpressive. Never received a refilled glass of water, had to repeatedly go to the bar ourselves to get drinks because our orders with the waitress never made it to our table. We were never asked how we were and if we needed anything after we finally received our food. Cold bread served only when asked for. Anti pasta never received. Overall a horrible experience and won’t ever bother coming back.

I had linguini with clams. The linguini was boiled to a consistency approaching mush and there was so much it was difficult to find the clams. The salad was soaked in the dressing. This reminded me of my mother’s cooking. She was a terrible cook.

Huge delicious portions. Nobody in our party finished their meals so I highly suggest Sharing! They charge $ 5 for an extra plate by the way. Waitress was super nice and friendly.

Visiting Eureka for the weekend and stopped by Roy’s for a late dinner. The prices are higher than I expected. My group just ended up ordering beers, the fried pawns, and calamari. The apps were pretty good. I thought both dishes needed to have been drained from the oil before being served.

I thought it was good. Husband had the tone steak and I had the capos platter. Tons of food. 50 bucks. Good experience with the staff… Very nice staff.

«Woohoo! As good as it gets!» For Humboldt county. If you like history, casual dining and great Italian food. This is the place to experience. I ate a Roy’s last night with my boyfriend for dinner and one of the best meals and service since I’ve been living in Humboldt so far. We ordered Caesar salad with anchovies — dressing a little bitter, but a lot of anchovies; Not stingy like how most places are. The Cioppino and cheese ravioli were are main course options. Both were a good size portion for the dollar amount. Also, both were satisfying for our taste buds. My wine choice for the evening was the famous chianti in the straw basket. Our server was Emily. She was friendly, and attentive in the service she provided. Thank you Roy’s for helping me write my first restaurant experience review!

I give Roy’s 5 stars because it is predictable and my favorite environment in Humboldt. Evo made the copper light fixtures! They are classic as are the cozy booths and décor. There is nothing left of the past in Old Town that measures up to Roy’s. The bar is classic and the drinks old world(even come with a mini-decanter for an extra bit). Perfect place for dates and small groups. You can hear and sit close-up. No «California cuisine» aura, just good old-world Italian food. too much of it so plan to eat it for two or three days after dining there. Be sure to check out the large painting in the dining room and the holiday decorations from the 50’s. This place is a classic!

The food Is always good and the service is wonderful. The smoked salmon raviolis are to die for and I find myself often day dreaming about them and just going and getting an order to go. The perfect little Italian dumpling, stuffed with just the perfect amount of smoked salmon. Not fishy at all. Smoky and amazing. The sauce is a lemon butter and caper sauce that really compliments the ravioli. Oh and and they are cooked to the perfect aldente, with just the best bite ever. The salad is good and simple. Tastes great with blue cheese and their marinated beans. Yummy …

Food is great, service is good, bartender needs to refine their cocktails. Definitely suggest making reservations.

Sadly we chose to eat here for dinner. It was possibly the worst meal and dining experience we have ever had. The food was super greasy and when I ordered a bowl of tomato basil soup, I received a bowl of chunky marinara sauce topped with a handful of Parmesan cheese. My husband’s scalloped potatoes was actually three ½″ slices of potato drowned in butter and cheese. I would not recommend dining here.

I ordered the pan fried oysters with lemon caper sauce. I was very pleased with the portion and the way the oysters were prepared. The service was good and everyone enjoyed the lasagna and my husband loved his gnocchi with Alfredo sauce. The reason I gave them 4 stars and not 5 is because it cost us an average of $ 35 per plate for food that was good but not spectacular and very little atmosphere.

It’s Sunday night, NYE weekend, and I’m in Eureka(still wondering how that happened myself). Start calling around for dinner. Brick and Fire… can’t take a party of 4 tonight(seriously!?). Call a few others… closed… closed… CLOSED. The desperation was starting to sit in but 3 stars on Unilocal? Our tummies were growling, the city looked like a ghost town except for this one red radiating light. OK let’s give it a go. We walked in and it looked like your classic old school Italian place. Bar, dark inside but pleasant. There was one table that had people at it packing up to leave and then there was us. Well we’ve gotten this far. Highlights: Service– Our service was awesome. Our waitress was innocent and honest and very attentive(I guess it did help that we were the only people there)! Portions– all the entrees come with antipasta salad, soup/salad, and bread. Main dishes are also fairly large. Antipasta salad and bread dipping sauce– loved the sauce SO much that I bought a bottle to take home. Wine selection– we had a wonderful Italian blend we all really enjoyed and it was under $ 20 for the bottle! Lowlights: Main course– All of the main courses were mediocre at best. My gnocchi was delicious but the marinara sauce tasted extremely tomato pasty and not so hot. My bf’s ravioli was similar. Great ravioli, not so great sauce. Although the main dishes were just«OK», the appetizers, service, and all around experience made up for that. Unilocal, sometimes you’re great because I have low expectations and then am pleasantly surprised :-)
