Had the most amazing meal at Gabriel’s!!! to Licky and Ariel and the whole family for making us feel like part of the family, while serving up the best Italian meal I’ve had outside of Italy! I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the mood for a memorable meal and making new friends. Thank you Gabriel’s!

We were up from San Diego for HSU’s graduation. This was our last trip up north after 4 years of making the trip. We tried to make a dinner reservation elsewhere prior to Gabriel’s; however, the place we first attempted was booked. We found Gabriel’s by coincidence on Unilocal.Never having been to Gabriel’s we winged it and made our reservation for 7 of us following graduation. It was GREAT! We had great service, fun staff, and the food was delicious. We all were sad that we had not found Gabriel’s in all our years of going up to Eureka/Arcata. We highly recommend Gabriel’s! Give it a try! You’ll go back if you do!!!

We’ve had dinner at Gabriel’s regularly over the last 5+ years but tonight topped all the other dinners! Perfect grilled salmon and rib eye steak, wonderful wonderful smoked turkey raviolis with shiitake mushrooms and marsala sauce with warm brownies ala mode and chocolate martinis for dessert! YUMMM!

Gabriel’s is our family’s special occasion restaurant. The food is always excellent, the service cheerful and efficient and the ambience perfect«Old Town Eureka.» It’s usually not too noisy, which is great for my husband who wears a hearing aid.

Happened across this place looking for something else and was very pleasantly pleased with the deliciously prepared meal we ate. The seafood over pasta struck a great balance of garlic creamy goodness. My dinner guests got some chicken and multi colored peppers over pasta which was good, but not great. Wine list is nice too. My only real criticism is their bread which was a soft crusted white bread rather than a heartily crusted loaf… Almost wonder bread like and a disappointment. Otherwise great find.

Okay, Italian food is tough to get 5 stars on but this place checked all of the boxes in so many ways. Serioisly, let me spell it out for you. The highlights: 1. Bread(complimentary) — I know, I’m giving free bread 5 stars? But it is rare to get the consistency right with the absorption of oil and balsamic vinegar. 2. The waiter happily made substitutions for both of us AND didn’t upcharge us. We added chicken to the fettuccine alfredo and spaghetti instead of potatoes. Sooooo nice. 3. Made from scratch or local pastas, no kidding. Perfectly prepared spaghetti didn’t stick together, coated sauce well, and cooked al dente. I am always surprised by italian places that don’t do homemade sauces and/or pasta but it makes me appreciate places like this that much more. Spot on. 4. My friend raved about her buttery alfredo sauce and I couldn’t stop eating my artichoke pie. Crust was very thin, it wasn’t too salty and paired great with the veal. Yum! We were too full for dessert, but they were all super tempting with classics like spumoni to unique white chocolate raspberry crème brûlée. Again, above were the highlights but dinner from beginning to end was great from the high quality glassware for the wine(no mold marks and heavy) to the dinner salad(it had this creamy dressing topped with strawberries, walnuts, and chick peas) to the waiter splitting our itemized check. Yummy and a must stop in Old Town Eureka by the sea! Thank you!

I am a life long Humboldt resident and this was my first time here. Absolutely delightful! Everything was perfect. My husband ordered three small plates and I went with the sausage ravioli. I ordered a mixed drink off there winter cocktail specials and my husband ordered two. Also excellently made. The service was quick. The waiter was attentive. When I made reservations I asked for their best waitperson and the quietest table. I got both. We can’t wait to go back.

My husband and I moved here a year ago, and we had yet to find an amazing Italian restaurant. We are NOT fans of all the other«popular» restaurants in humboldt county. This restaurant is amazing. Everything from the salad, to the dinner was great! The drinks my family ordered were awesome! It’s very quiet and very nice staff! I will be back to this restaurant. Yum.

Love this place when my son asked for pizza which wasn’t on the menu the chef was more than willing to whip up exactly what he wanted. The staff and chef have always gone out of the way to accommodate our every need and the quality of the meal can’t be beat.

I really want to like this place, but they make it so hard. Every few years the memory of the last time fades, and with so few options in Humboldt, I try it again. I don’t know how the hire arrogant waitstaff with so little knowledge. If you really know your stuff you can let the service slide a bit, but to be unaware of the menu, what ingredients are AND give really poor untrained service is hard to find… but they continue to find them. Not going into the food, it’s so uninspiring at best. I recommend just skipping Italian in Eureka. If you have to have it drive to La Trattoria in Arcata, it’s not great, but not so dissappointing.

Tiny, easy to miss little Italian restaurant in downtown Old Town Eureka. I literally had to use the walking option on Google Maps after I parked because it wasn’t bright or very lit up. Service: When we were greeted, I told the host I had a reservation for two. We were seated adjacent to the bar where it was crowded and noisy(everyone was watching a game on the TV). It was very awkward table placement, especially for a reservation. There were other 4-top tables near windows available. We asked to be reseated to the front table by the big window, and the host happily obliged. Other than that, service was alright. There were no false pleasantries or chit chat, just straight to the point. It wasn’t cold, just basic. Food: We ordered the Mushroom Stack for an appetizer. So delicious! So small! Shiitake mushrooms, butternut squash, gorgonzola, and a marsala sauce lounge upon crisp, crunchy chip-like crackers, all stacked on top of one another. My partner and I ate those up so fast that it was like they were never there. I ordered the Gnocchi Mediterranean. Best gnocchi I’ve had in Humboldt County, and possibly the best gnocchi I’ve had ever. Every bite was dense, chewy, rich deliciousness. The shallot cream sauce was light, divine, and held up nicely to the heavy gnocchi. I felt that the portion sizes were good for the price. My partner had the Chicken Penne Pesto with grilled chicken on the side and substituted fettuccine instead of penne. The fettuccine was perfectly al dente, and the pesto had huge flavor! Knocked my socks off. Ambiance: The ambiance was nice. There was an upstairs portion that was open to the downstairs, but I didn’t go up to see. The paintings on the walls were a bit outdated and the big windows and their ledges could have used a nice cleaning, however the Victorian charm of the building was beautiful. The TV at the bar was a huge distraction, though, and takes away from the romantic, decadent vibes of the place. I would try Gabriel’s again for the quality and quantity of food. Maybe grab some take away from their lunch menu!

They should install flypaper or something. I sat in the middle of the restaurant and looked out the window and I couldn’t help but notice all of the flies wavering through the restaurant. The food was OK. The best thing was my salad. I had the veal parmigiana and I was sorry that I did. The wine must’ve come from the bottom of an old bottle, with a bunch of sediment poured into my glass. The atmosphere is decent, but I would not recommend it or try the food again.

I have been highly addicted to Gabriel’s lately!!! I go regularly for lunch, only a couple times for dinner, Gabriel’s has been super when it comes too the value of a lunch hour! I am currently obsessed with their sautéed veg, under cod or champagne chicken. Gnocchi… Seriously heaven!!! I LOVE the balsamic and olive oil that they serve with good bread! The balsamic is TOODIEFOR!!!

Now, before you begin reading, know that I have visited this restaurant a whopping total of one time in my entire life. I am not a culinary expert, nor have I ever been even remotely close to visiting Italy. BUT… I can say, without a doubt in my uncultured mind, that I love and appreciate this restaurant. I visited Gabriel’s for a dinner on my 22nd birthday. My boyfriend and I were trying to find a nice, quiet place to enjoy some pasta and drinks before we headed back to our hotel. I picked Gabriel’s. It wasn’t packed, per se, but you weren’t going to get a seat anywhere«private». We asked about outdoor seating(having seen a large group seated outside), and when the waitress reluctantly told us there was no space outside, a gentlemen in a button down dress shirt behind her(maybe a manager?) chimed in to say«Unless you want to carry a table out onto the deck». My boyfriend, who is not easily shamed, said YES. And they did. THEYHELPEDUSCARRY A TABLEOUTONTOTHEDECK… past the group, out onto an adorable little patio where we got exactly what we wanted, a wonderful, peaceful, delicious, private dinner. The gentlemen in the button down waited on us for the rest of the evening. He was wonderful. They surprised me with a yummy chocolate cake/brownie thing. It was wonderful. I had a wonderful birthday. Thank you, Gabriel’s. P. S.- We had a good laugh reading your horrible reviews to each other while we waited for our food.

My husband and I had a horrible experience. We didn’t make any reservations, which I guess we were expected to do, since the gentleman who«greeted» us looked pretty displeased when we told him we didn’t make one. The place was pretty empty but he sat us up on the top floor area by an open door. It was freezing. Then he brought out cold bread. We asked if it was always cold and he angrily responded that it was always served that way. We placed an order anyway thinking the food might be good and it took a long time, over half an hour, before we got anything. It was gross. My husband had ordered the gnocchi, it tasted like it was reheated from frozen. I was so upset that we canceled my order, which still wasn’t ready, paid the bill and left. We will never return to this establishment.

Love this place! Highly recommend the Strangolapreti and the Tri Colored Gnocchi. Service is great and the food is consistently delicious. Great place to come for a grown up meal! Careful with the Citrus Martinis they go down like Cool-Aid! Bella

The food was pretty amazing I got the salmon ravioli’s with capers and they were delicious. The capers were a little intese though. The highlight was the scallop, bacon, dried cherries, butternut squash with glazed walnut appetizer. Holy crap that was amazing! I also got the mint chocolate cheesecake which was also amazing! Nice little gem here in Eureka of all places.

I was recommended this place by a few co-workers… Booked a reservation for 14. They set up a nice long table upstairs that opened to a beautiful balcony. The service was excellent. The hostess was very nice, our waiter very patient & friendly. The food Delicious! Ordered the veal and Cesar salad. Wine bottle corkage fee was a great deal and wasn’t charged the cake fee. I highly recommend this beautiful restaurant.
