Thai Kitchen closed and the location reopened under new ownership as Fusion Café. Service and food is not the same, and a huge disappointment as we thought is was just a remodel. Will be searching for a new Thai venue in East Lansing.

Thai Kitchen’s name is a bit misleading — from what I understand, this used to be an entirely Thai restaurant, but in the past year or so, they have moved to serving«fusion» food. Fusion is a pretty misleading term though, as the menu offers both Thai and Chinese options. Luckily, I had heard all of this from my roommate before I went here, so I DIDNOT order any of the Thai food(which she said was mediocre at best). She had ordered some Americanized Chinese food, but a quick survey around the room told me that I needed to order what every single other table in the restaurant was eating — what looked like a hot pot style dinner. After asking the waiter what this was, he brought us back a slip of white paper from which we could choose the ingredients we wanted as part of our dinner bowl. There were a wide selection of meats, noodles and vegetables you could get. We selected a few and chose our desired spiciness and were then served the bowl of stir-fried ingredients in a sauce that had ginger, chili, and some sort of dried clove or allspice like berry(we weren’t sure if this came in every bowl or if that was the warning the waiter tried to give us if he said we knew we were ordering«Chinese mushrooms» — we were too embarrassed to ask) and rice on the side. The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was the dried spice berry, but it was easy enough to pick around. This place definitely reminded me of some of the whole-in-the-wall Chinese places I frequented in Los Angeles, where the décor may be a bit lacking, the service a bit brusque(though helpful), and the food catering to less of an American palate(which is usually a good thing).

Where I discovered chicken pad thai! I love this little place and try to make it back as often as I come back to Michigan.

Yum! And when I needed a box the chef wanted to make sure nothing was wrong with my food. Very good customer service

I absolutely love Thai Kitchen. Their food is delicious and the lunch deals are a good amount of food for a very reasonable price. I wouldn’t get thai food anywhere else if I had a choice. Their hot and sour soup is hands down the best I’ve ever had. It’s a bit dark inside but it’s a small family owned restaurant, what do you expect? Quality food, good prices, good portions. My absolute favorite thai food place.

The restaurant had wonderful food, and was light on the budget. The restaurant décor might turn some people off; wrong color(Green) and the lighting was off. With that said, the family that owns the place was very nice.

Tonight was my first Thai Kitchen experience and I was underwhelmed. The BF& I ordered pad thai w/chicken, Goong Kra Pow(a shrimp dish with holy basil sauce), and an order of spring rolls to go. Positives: — Spring rolls were still hot and delicious 10 minutes later when we sat down to eat. — Reasonable overall price. Negatives: — Pad thai was over-sauced(& tasted almost ketchup-y) with overcooked noodles. — BF wasn’t terribly impressed with the shrimp dish. I love my Thai food, but I’m skeptical of a place that can screw up pad thai. While the prices seem less expensive than other nearby Thai places, those other places are tastier and have larger portions.

They have the best Thai iced tea I’ve ever had.(Although several of my friends tell me it’s too sweet.) Something they put in there makes it different from the others, but I can’t quite pinpoint what it is. Butterscotch, maybe? I usually get the Mussuman here, but I’ve had better at other places. The Pad Thai is decent, but usually the noodles are so moist that they’re a squishy clump on my plate. The lunch specials are great and the staff are friendly, though!

Thumbs up yummy! I am always happy with every dish I try from here. The lunch prices are great. You can dine in or take-out. The staff are friendly and the owners always make me feel at home. The dinner plate is a little larger than the luch size plate and is just a few bucks more. The Pad Thai is always a hit.

The food here is absolutely delicious, the service is wonderful. They’re normally understaffed, and it may take a while to get your food, but it’s worth the wait. Try the Pad Thai with beef, the Peanut Curry with chicken and you must try their Tom Yam(hot and sour soup)– it comes with any of the combos on the back of the menu.

Thai Kitchen holds a special place in my heart. In reality, this place is a 3.5 rating… but the extra is for four years of entertainment the owner provided us. I have so many fond memories at this wonderful, family owned establishment. It’s a local spot for MSU students. Although not directly on campus, it is worth the trek over. As most locals know, there is debate about which is better: Taste of Thai or Thai Kitchen. Thai Kitchen definitely wins this one! Don’t let the unfriendly demeanor of the owner, or the fact that they are usually extremely unstaffed scare you… it’s all a part of the experience. Seriously. Their daughter, who usually works most nights, is a sweetheart. My friends and I used to eat here at least once a week, and I like to think that the owner reciprocated the loving feelings. The first time the owner(fondly dubbed CSE: Customer Service Extravaganza) smiled at us, we knew we had entered an intimate level in our unspoken relationship. The food: The peanut curry noodles are a MUST. It is a specialty of TK and cannot be found anywhere else. Don’t get the Pad See Ew expecting the traditional wide noodles used… they don’t do that here. Happy eating! Miss this place very much. Tell CSE I say hello if you stop in…

Any time I end up giving a review that does not match the majority I gotta wonder. But, this really was a horrible experience. First off the poor waitress was there alone. Running the phones, the to go orders, 20 tables and answering phones. It took me about 10 minutes or so to be seated. Once I was seated it took another 10 minutes or so for her to take my order. I get you are slammed, but, I really really would have liked to hear«Sorry about the wait» or something. No acknowledgment when I was seated or when my order was taken. Then, the order was wrong. I ordered a bowl of soup and a cup showed up and the Catfish with onions I ordered showed up with carrotts, mushrooms peppers and onions. Also the food was just plain olé not good. The soup was beyond salty and while the crust on the fish was good the fish itself was not. Here is hoping I was there on a bad day, but, between the poor service, bland food and bleh environment this is a future pass for me.

Definitely not awful, and probably the only clean and acceptable Thai food that I’ve had in the Greater Lansing Area. I ordered Tofu Tod and Pad Thai with Tofu. The appetizer was so-so, but that’s probably my taste buds more than the quality of the food. The main dish was OK at best. The main issue that I had was with the texture and consistency of the sauce. It was way too thick for a peanut sauce. The bill was competitively priced, the service was a bit slow, but the waitstaff was really friendly. Overall, I’d go back and try something new, but I would probably not order Pad Thai.

Love this place, great food. Decent prices. Authentic! Service is great but don’t expect to be in and out in thirty. Portions are HUGE as well is the taste. Clean place and a nice dining environment!

Thai Kitchen is a fantastic place for lunch. Delicious food and portions are just right. You won’t leave wanting a nap afterwords having to go back to work but it won’t leave you hungry. Lunch specials are extremely reasonable, bordering on cheap, considering the tastiness of the food. The food can be quite spicy, so beware. One of my favorites is the Pan-nang, a chicken dish in a spicy coconut curry sauce, served with fried rice and soup/egg roll to start. Definitely a must go.

I had shrimp PadThai for lunch … and mannn it was so good! Thai Kitchen is a small restaurant but you can see that people really like this place. The restaurant was crowded and many customers also stopped by to pick up their foods. This restaurant will be one of my fav eating places in E Lansing! :D Not so much for ice coffee… but Thai food here is awesome.

In case you can’t tell, I like ethnic food. I have eaten almost everything on their menu in the 6 years I lived in Lansing. I highly recommend chicken satay, spring rolls, Pad Almond, and the Thai Kitchen Noodles. But… you just can’t go wrong with the food or price. Lunch is a bargain around $ 6 and includes TomYung soup and a spring roll. GREAT!!!

I used to frequent Thai Kitchen on(at least) a weekly basis during college. There are so many things I love about TK, but here are the highlights: 1. They have a menu chocked full of great choices, 2. The waitstaff will ACTUALLY listen to you when you say what spiciness level you’d like your meal at. I find this to be a common problem at places where you get to specify, and TK always seemed to get it right. 3. The service is wonderful. They usually get super busy at lunch, but seem to stay on top of it. If you need to be in and out, it isn’t a difficult feat. 4. The price is amazing for what you get. It used to be an even $ 5 for a spring roll, soup and your entrée during lunch. I realize that this has went up, but it was so nice to have my $ 5 bill ready to go, with some dollar bills to cover the tip.

Every decent thai place I’ve ever been in my life has been found in some weird, unassuming place — and Thai Kitchen is no exception. Tucked into a tiny little strip mall next to a barbarshop, the only clue of the tasty goodness tucked within is the bright yellow sign reading ‘Thai Kitchen’ above its door. If my friend hadn’t notified me of its existence, I never would have found it. But I’m so glad I did. TK’s interior is that of a formal, awkward living room — hilarious in its own, sparse way. The staff was polite, quick and friendly — but none of the above is the reason to go to the TK. Let’s get down to brass tax here, how’s the food? The quality of Thai food hinges on two things — the spice and the quality of the meat. And TK is two for two. I had the #6 with beef. Rated at ‘two chilis’, it had just the right amount of kick without me having to ask them bring it. The beef wasn’t chewy or rubbery or mush — just firm and delicious. Of course all of the above is well and good, but I’m a bad Unilocaler and have managed to bury the lead. My number 6, as all lunch combos do, came with a cup of soup, a chicken springroll, and fried rice — all for the bargain basement price of $ 5.75! That’s an avalanche of awesome for next to nothing. All that and I was in and out in 40 minutes. If you find yourself in the East Lansing area, seek out this hidden gem.
