3 – 3.5 stars. It’s one of the few authentic Chinese places in town. Pretty solid overall, but generally most dishes seem to have the same combination of ingredients/taste. They offer a variety of different cuisines but everything that is supposed to be spicy(especially the Szechuan style boiled fish) has a distinctly sweet undertone that kind of throws off the flavors in general. Service is quick and prices are reasonable(slightly on the wee bit of a higher side though if you consider quality and quantity). They also have a buffet option if you’re not ordering.

I was pretty excited to learn that there’s a Chinese restaurant that offered Dim Sum on the weekends in EL. When I heard it was offered at their buffet, I was a little skeptical at first but it actually wasn’t too bad. The restaurant is a lot bigger than I thought it would be. There was a front and back section which includes larger round tables with spinning tops for family style dining. The lunch buffet today was $ 12.95 and well worth the price. There were some dishes that were better than others and surprisingly pretty fresh. Some of the dim sum dishes like Shumai(Pork and Shrimp Dumpling), Lo Bak Go(Turnip Cake), Pork Short Rib, and Deep Fried Taro Dumpling were fresh and tasted better than what I had at Wei Wei Palace in Kentwood. Here’s how I would rate the dishes(of course, other dim sum places like Shangri-La in West Bloomfield is so much better) Good: Shumai, Lo Bak Go, Pork Sparerib, Deep Fried Taro Dumpling, Clams in Black Bean Sauce, Soy Sauce Chicken, Fried Dumpling, Mango Pudding Okay: Fried Calamari, Bean Curd, Pork & Chive Dumpling, Stir Fried Noodles(I think they used curry to flavor it), Coconut Pudding, Douhua(Tofu Pudding-syrups needs to be sweeter) Not worth the calories: BBQ Pork Bun, Beef Meatball, Taro & Coconut Sago, Congee(you can add fried dough to it), Red Bean Dessert(others might like it but it’s not for me) Other dishes offered at the buffet that I didn’t try includes Custard Bun, Chicken Feet, Fried Rice, Sesame Bun, Ha Gow(Shrimp Dumpling), Rice Roll with Beef and more. The service was okay during the hour I went(1:00−2:00pm). There’s definitely a lot of room for improvement but it’s what you expect from first generation Chinese immigrants. I’m planning to return again to try their authentic Chinese cuisines that you can order off the menu. I also wouldn’t mind returning for their buffet because of the price and dishes served.

Foods great. The food here is not bland at all they have authentic asian food a huge selection and prices are fair food always comes quick and service is normally great. Love the weekend dim sum and the new remodel accept the air compressor on the fish tanks that’s so loud that its hard to hear yourself think but overall its one of the best asian food places in the area. Wish that compressor was put some where else besides the dinning room.

I love this place especially in a time crunch. At the buffet the food is ready and you can have a variety of your favorites. While I don’t care for the wrappers they use on their wontons, everything else was wonderful. It’s a great overall value for the price. I also love looking at the bins of fresh sea creatures while I eat.

I usually come here on weekends for the dim sum buffet. Not as good, varied or fun as traditional dim sum(on carts) but a great value and still very tasty. The regular buffet food is also good. Usually packed with Chinese students, which is a good sign.

After a handful of visits, my overall experience with Everyday Café lands at a slightly better than average rating. Initially I was so impressed with the food quality and variety during lunch, but it seems they cannot be counted upon for consistency the more I visit. The lunch buffet(which is extremely affordable as a to-go option if you work locally since they charge by weight rather than a flat fee — especially if you’re like me and order mostly noodles, I usually walk out for under $ 5) is very clean and has a bit of everything and a nice selection of vegetarian options. The problem is that I’ve had both very poor, fatty, rubbery meats and poultry on some days and then amazing, lean, real tasting meats and poultry the next visit, and vice versa. When it’s good, it’s great, but when it’s iffy, it’s really inedible. The same goes for their egg rolls which once were quite possibly the best I’ve had anywhere, and then a week later a soggy, unfresh greasy mess. Don’t get me wrong, most of their items are far better than the other Chinese cuisine options in the area, but I digress! Finally, the service is terrible. At least for me, an Italian chick. I mention this because the restaurant has been completely patronized by Asian international students on every visit I’ve made, with me being the only minority most of the time. I’m usually met with a frown and anything but attention when I’m paying for my meal, making me feel a tad unwelcome. A hello and thank you would be an enormous improvement. I still like Everyday Café, and will continue coming back for my random midday Chinese cravings because the price is awesome, it’s fast, and those perfect egg rolls just may be there on my next visit…

This place has really good, authentic Chinese food. My friend and I came for dinner recently. We got a whole bunch of dishes and everything was really good. Now, the catch with this place is to not expect good service. The waitresses rotate in a haphazard fashion and usually have thickly accented English. I had eaten here once before so I knew what I wanted. The waitress initially didn’t give me chopsticks and pointed me to the last page of the menu and said«this food is for American people». I tried not to laugh because I think she was trying to be nice and save me from eating something she thought I’d find distasteful. But I have no problem with most of the more unusual things except those Century Eggs. Blech! So we got the Basil Chicken Hotpot, Cantonese noodles, Kimchi Pork Belly, and the jellyfish appetizer. All of it was really yummy. The Kimchi Pork Belly is my favorite, it’s fatty, spicy, and overall delicious. So if you want really authentic Chinese food, this place probably rivals Hong Kong restaurant.

This place has good authentic Cantonese dishes. It’s good and priced well. We ordered from the dinner menu so I can’t vouch for the buffet nor dim sum.

In comparison, this is the best Chinese food you can find in town. The service is excellent, super fast cooking, and almost authentic Chinese food. The lunch buffet is also worth the money. Only 10 bucks and you can enjoy 10+ entrée. What i like the most is their weekend buffet. The dim sum definitely worths the 13 bucks you spend.

Best Chinese food I have ever had, hands down! Menus are weird(plain paper stuck together with lots of spelling errors); and service is terrible but the food makes up for it.

Went for weekday lunch buffet with my friends. Selection was good – crispy fried chicken wings, beef and broccoli, clams, and a whole lot more. I didn’t care for their fried rice – next time I’ll probably get plain. They have a smaller station with sushi rolls, fruit, jello, and other dessert items, including buckets of Meijer ice cream. It’s a pretty solid three for weekday lunch buffet – the only thing is that since it’s a buffet, some items may not be as fresh. Also went for the weekend dim sum buffet. Ugh – that deserves two stars. The shu mai was decent because they kept it in a steaming tray. However, the rice crepes w/shrimp were cold and too thick. I much prefer getting dim sum from carts rather than a buffet. The place was fairly packed, though, so I guess most of the customers liked the food. I’ll have to look elsewhere(like outside of Michigan) for my dim sum fix.

Word on the street is that this place does not cater to Non-Chinese. My past experiences here has just been awful. Do not waste your time or money here. The place is very disorganized. There is a fish tank right next to the register with no fish. Can someone please explain that? The waitresses are just awful. They do not care about the service aspect at all. They had about 5 waitresses working that day. One with gloves in hand and the others with none. I had a party for 3 people. They told us to wait while they cleaned up a table for 6. Not a big deal, but the table was not clean afterwards. Food and grease was still on the table! How do you expect me to eat buffet with one napkin??? Keep in mind that there were 5 waitresses… My chopstick was a broken one. I needed more napkins. NOONEWASAROUNDTOASSISTME! I had to get up and go grab my own Chopsticks!!!(Keep in mind that this is not Mongolian BBQ where you actually grab your own Chopsticks) My friend asked for a warm water. We got two iced water. Service is just awful and horrendous. Someone needs to teach this place how to provide proper service. Do not expect me to tip if the service is that awful. The price for the quality of the food is ridiculous. Dumplings from frozen packages. I had one that was still FROZEN inside. How do you serve that? The buffet is not fresh. everything had one or two pieces left in it.(I was not there to catch the end of the buffet) The red bean soup is red bean less. The boss lady refilled the squash soup with a bucket that was sitting on the floor COLD! The rice noodle I had still had PLASTICWRAPS in it! The cold appetizers WERE left overs from WHO knows how long. The Sushi selection is not fresh and fish less. DONOT have a sushi bar if you DONOTSERVEFISH.(I know some say is for the vegetarians but for this restaurant, it was about saving money and giving more selection.) The dessert selection is very limited and Not fresh. Help yourself by visiting some other restaurants. Service is out the window. Food is …(Described above) One last thing, they had already gave me the check before I sat down with my first round AND I told them I was waiting for one more person. Very Rude. Indescribable of how terrible the experience was.

Only place for dim sum, wish it was better because there aren’t many options in the area. Good fried rice, Singapore noodles. The one thing that really turns me off about this place is the fish tank in the front. The water is quite murky and the fish seem to have lesions and injuries on their skin. Not appetizing. And if this is what they display at the front of the restaurant, I can only imagine what goes on backstage. bleh.

I’m cautious about trying new-to-me Chinese restaurants, and I usually never go to a one without a reference from somebody I know(sorry Unilocalers). Additionally, with rare exception, I don’t go to places with buffets. However, today I needed food fast, and this restaurant was in the right place at the right time. From what I can tell, this restaurant boasts a traditional and an Americanized Chinese fair, with no frills. It potentially is for homesick college students in need of comfort food that only mom can make. While I didn’t get past the counter near the entrance, the buffet looked to be pretty well serviced, which is a plus; but of course, I didn’t order the buffet. Being the spice monster that I am, I went with the Chicken and Jalapeño. I know that doesn’t sound very Chinese, but I understand that certain items are difficult to get in large quantities, and that substitutions are typically made at Chinese restaurants in America. The food was good, not great, but good. The dish was about 2⁄3 chicken, 1⁄3 jalapeño. While the balance was good, I would have enjoyed more peppers. It wasn’t terribly spicy, and the chicken was a little fatty(i.e. mostly dark meat). Overall, I might go back. This place is open later than my usual choice Chinese restaurant, so there’s a potential window of time that I could see myself going back here. Additionally, its the only restaurant in the area that I know serves Dim Sum. I could definitely find myself going back to service that craving in the future.

This seems to be the place that a lot of Asian college students come to for Chinese food. We came here for dinner with a large group(mostly Ph. D graduates). The fried squid, chinese broccoli w/beef, sauteed clams, and the marinate thinly sliced pork were my favorite dishes from here. We also ordered 3 types of tofu pots and they were all tasty as well. The prices were extremley reasonable but the service was just ok. There also seems to be a KTV connected to the restaurant. The sound proofing was excellent because we weren’t able to hear any sound as people came through the door that you would enter into the KTV place from the restaurant. Parking: plenty of parking in the strip mall.

I came here today with a huge group for some post-party/morning after dim sum. When we got there, I immediately remembered that I had eaten here a couple times, years ago in a pre-yelp world. Everyday Chinese is where my parents took me to eat when they were dropping me off at college at the start of welcome week. It is the place where, three years later, I attended an end of the year banquet celebrating the accomplishments of a student organization I was a part of. Food is pretty good. I’m no expert on Chinese cuisine, but I am an expert in being satisfied. The lunch buffet on Sunday morning was everything my group of tired and hungover needed. Fried taro root, dumplings, and tripe, tripe, TRIPE. For reals, the best way to calm a stomach restless with a night’s worth of alcohol and spicy udon is a stomach full of STOMACH.
