Meh. The food was lacking ooomph. Sad food, lukewarm boring soups. old pieces of bread by the soup bowls. The tableware was prettier than the food. I was excited to taste a pie. I got a cherry wth crumble top. The initial taste was semi soggy underdone crumble on a tart filling. I started searching for a cherry. When I finally found one, it rolled off my fork and straight down to the floor. one less cherry in a pie with about 5 cherries and mainly guck. And the price give me a break this soup sandwich pie(the smallest pie slice I have ever seen) was not worth the big bucks it cost us. Nope, I expect good value for my good money and this place like so many now is a money sucker without any table service at all.

Good quick food place, seems better then most bread/soup/pie places that I have been to in the past. Had the Cherry pie loved the tart cherries and crumb crust compared to the regular crust. Pasty is a little dried out but gravy helps.

Food is not bad, and it’s pretty healthy which I appreciate. I don’t like baked goods, so I can’t speak on that, but the soups, salads and sandwiches are all pretty good. My only serious knock on ‘em is the cost, soup and salad should not run me 12 – 15 bucks, but it’s kinda like Panera in that regard. Good service however, which is really nice and uncommon in EL with all the college children working.

Somewhat disappointed at their customer service with a recent order for Thanksgiving. Here is the story… Called a couple weeks in advance to order a pumpkin pie and an apple pie with crumb topping to be picked up on Wednesday. Their pies are always great and as we were traveling from Pennsylvania thought we would order pies rather than bring them with us. As we were not going to arrive until late Wednesday my son who lives in East Lansing was picking them up. When he arrived and gave my name he was brought out a pumpkin pie and one that had pecans on it. He questioned the one with pecans as he knew it was to be an apple crumb. The person helping him insisted that I had ordered an apple pie with pecan caramel topping. He shins questioned and said he thought it was to be apple crumb. At this time the employee got angry and said that’s what he ordered and walked away. When my son called me I assured him I ordered nothing with pecans and said I would call the store. When I called I asked for the manager and was told I was speaking to her. After going through the entire story, she told me that I needed to speak with the manager that was handling complaints/order mix-ups??? Was transferred and got my story out again… was told to have my son come back, ask for him by name and they would get him an apple crumb. Sounds like good service… hold on… when my son got back they asked him why he didn’t bring back the incorrect pie? Well they didn’t tell me to bring it back and what were they going to do with it… sell it to another customer. After a tense stand off, the apple crumb pie was relinquished! By the way the pecan topped«apple» pie was just a plain old pecan pie! We shared the extra with the neighbors.

A nice place for lunch, near the capitol. Turkey sandwich was good, though nothing special. But the pie!!! We got a piece of blueberry crumb to split — WOW! I don’t even like blueberries but this was delicious. I wish I could have tried more of the flavors.

Called at 9am with a lunch menu question. Placed a lunch order. Person who answered seemed annoyed I was even ordering and said they«would see what they can do» about getting the order ready by noon. I canceled my order. I’m not sure what kind of restaurant can’t handle making 4 sandwhichs with 3 hours notice. I can’t comment on the food because I’ll never eat there now based on the customer service.

After a not great lunch I decided to give breakfast a try(because apparently I’m a glutton for disappointment). I ordered the scramble wrap with sausage, which sounded like a solid choice. In short, it was disgusting — just dripping in grease from the excessive cheese filing. I couldn’t even finish it because it was so bad. I now need to go home and eat dry toast. So bad. I would not return if they paid me.

All the grills shut down(so no sandwiches) and pie put away 40 minutes before close, really? If you close at 5 close at 5, not 4:30. I’m sure the food is good but clearly the employees only care about getting out early.

This place is great! It is a better version of Panera. It is a PureMichigan that bakes delicious pies. They food is also top-notch. My personal favorite is the chicken pot pie. My girlfriend loves their Mediterranean Quiche. The prices are very reasonable. The only reason I give it 3 stars is because of service. I have ordered full quiches from here a couple of times. One time it was to bring to a pot luck. They told me it would be ready to be picked up in an hour. I arrived in an hour and they said it wasn’t ready and that it would be another hour. When I explained that I was going be late, the lady behind the counter asked me, «what do you want me to do?» That seemed rude considering I was told it would be ready in an hour and I had to wait another hour to get it.

As a general consumer of food, this place is somewhere between fine and good. The pie is phenomenal. As a study environment, it is quite good– with room for improvement. The staff is good. It is counter service, and I am generally neither under or overwhelmed by the service. The food is fine/sometimes good. I have had some of their salads, soups, sandwiches, and quiches. None of it is particularly impressive to stand out in my mind, nor is it bad enough to be remarkable. The pie is remarkable. Some of the best pie that I have ever had. Though this location is in East Lansing, there is seemingly no difference in quality of pie between this restaurant and the ones in Traverse City. Every piece of pie is like a lake-side vacation! From a student perspective– Pros: –there are a bunch of tables(lunch hour can get pretty busy though), as well as a whole back room of tables –many outlets –free drink refills –a general sense of tolerance towards study groups and individuals with laptops(I would just avoid busy times out of politeness) Cons: –at times it is BUSY –in the evening there seems to be an influx of meetings(organizations(not so irritating) as well as Girl Scouts(adorable, but irritating). –the pie is always calling to you

Three and a half stars. The food isn’t mind blowing, and it’s a little expensive, I think, for what it is. This time I got the beet and feta salad, which came with a nondescript creamy dressing. The salad greens were mostly fresh(there were a few stray ones with browned edges), and I liked the crunchy sweet bits. The ham and Havarti sandwich was warm, and I liked the chewy baguette that it came on. I expected the cherry crumb pie to be better because this is primarily a pie place. However, I think the pie was cooked at too high a temperature because the top of the crumb topping was browned but the inside was kind of gooey(not the good kind). Service is friendly or not depending on who’s working the cash register and assembling your food. The fireplace is nice, especially on a cold wintry day. Overall, A-OK for me!

They have so many different pies here and they have wifi! What more could you want? I went here for lunch with my mom. The chicken pot pie was really good. My mom got a Southwest chicken salad, which was also good. I’m definitely coming back here to try the dessert pies!

I agree with a past reviewer– it does feel very Panera-y, however the bonus is certainly the pie. The food tastes less mass produced than other places as well. My only gripe is the service can be very slow, outside of the lunch rush– which is kind of peculiar. I always tell myself they are off making pies from scratch, so I should be patient. They do have a lovely Chocolate silk pie, that they wont call chocolate silk pie, but that’s exactly what it is honey.

The food is good, especially the bagels. But to be honest, it feels and looks just like Panera. It’s the same thing essentially, with subtle differences here and there.

I had to force my Grandma in to going there because she wasn’t impressed the last time she went, luckily I was driving! All of the options sounded good, everything on the menu seemed to have a special ingredient that made it stand out from other restaurants. I got a Turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce as it seemed fitting for late November. The sandwich was good but as you can see in the picture there really wasn’t much turkey, maybe even less than a $ 5 footlong, criminal! Service was quick and the restaurant is super cozy! They even have a really cool stone fireplace that is double sided and visible from the outside as well! Seems to be great for students and their lap-tops, said students who were taking all the good tables. College town problems. I would choose this over other quick service places if in the area and in need but I will keep my fingers crossed for better proportions in the dishes.

Obviously the pie is good, and especially the strawberry rhubarb crumb top pie. The food is fairly tasty, order focaccia with your sandwich instead of a different bread-its the best one. For a corporate style restaurant its one of the better ones. I have two caveats-the coffee is really bad and the wi-fi is hit or miss. Its possible the coffee would be better if they used a bit more when making it, even the dark roast is translucent. It reminds me of the weak stuff my grandma liked. A cup of coffee and a piece of pie is one of the better things in life, but you might want to bring your own coffee!

Super yummy. I don’t eat any carbs so I was weary of coming here because they are known for their pies. Luckily they had a great selection of salads. I ordered the chicken fiesta salad. Super yummy and fresh. Everything that my coworkers ordered looked super yummy and they enjoyed every bite of their meals. They even put out little samples of pie to try.

I am updating because I waited nearly a year to try it again. This time it is Two Thumbs Up! Very glad to have tried it again. I had the quiche Lorraine, tomato soup, and blueberry crumble pie. All I can say is YAY! The soup was very savory. The quiche was fantastic! And the pie was simply to Die For. My only complaint(and you KNEW I had to throw in a few, right?) are that the quiche and soup could have been hotter, and my dad ordered a chicken salad sandwich but got the salad(in a bowl) form, not in a sandwich form. They corrected it immediately and with apologies, gave him a full one when he wanted a half. So it’s all good, we’re happy with them and the place was great. Will definitely go back again.

This place is so cute! I ended up here mainly because I got lost. My co-worker and I were on our first visit to Lansing and searching for a place with free wi-fi and decent grub. Alas, this place found us after we went one block too far down Grand River. Once inside, this place looks like Panera with a pie rack. I got a ham, egg, and cheese croissant and gave oogly eyes to all the danishes and desserts it was just too early to eat. I hung out in this place until lunch and I just loved it’s whole vibe. If you want to find a bagel/bake shop go past MSU’s main strip and stop here. Something about this place makes you want to linger for a while.

Friggin’ delicious. I am salivating! The tomato tortellini soup is by far my most favorite soup any where. So creamy and unique! Very tasty. I’m not sure what my favorite sandwich is called, but it’s the basically hot ham and cheese with spicy mustard — only it tastes like so much more than just that! For dessert, I recommend the mixed berry pie. It has at least four varieties of the berry family in it and is such a refreshing dessert. I’ve never had a pie like it. I’ve bought the pie as a whole twice to two separate events(one work, one family) and it was a major hit. I really can’t think of any thing bad about GTPC… a few of my friends think it’s a bit pricey, but I think the quality of the food is worth a few extra bucks at lunch time. The service is the only area that I would may be say lacks. It isn’t bad, it’s just mediocre. This is definitely a missed opportunity if you haven’t paid a visit!
