I really want to like Chez Ali but I just can’t. The food is good, but the experience of getting it is terrible. I tried to call for takeout, but apparently their phone doesn’t work(and hasn’t for nearly a week now). The atmosphere is bad, bright lights and a sterile feel. And it’s cold inside(on this winter evening) with flickering lights and«Night Court» playing on a TV. So I place my order and ask how long: «15 minutes» is the response. So I go back out to my car to wait where it’s warm. I give it 20 and come back inside thinking it really should t take long since there are only 2 people patronizing the restaurant(both wearing their coats by the way). I’m writing this review as I still wait in the restaurant, 50 minutes after I placed my order. Seriously. Bottom line: the food is enjoyable if you get takeout, but they’ve even managed to screw that up. I have no idea how they stay in business. I know I certainly won’t be coming back.

To be honest, my experience with this restaurant started out a little rough. I called in a pretty big order and was told that it would be about 20 – 30 minutes. To be safe, we showed up 45 minutes later and still had to wait for 15. It was frustrating at first, until the first bite reached our mouth. Honestly, everything was well worth the wait. Because we ordered like 10 different dishes for a family dinner, I got to try a bit of everything. I eat a lot of Mediterranean food, and honestly this one one of the best. Meat was juicy, hummus was just right, sides were perfect. Everything had the right balance to it from not too spice not too bland, to just enough veggies with the meat dishes. Sauces were delicious, rich, and complimented all of the food very well. I know that our long wait must have been some sort of an accident, and it definitely won’t stop us from ordering here again and again. Great place, great people making your food, what else could you ask for?(:

I’ve been for lunch and dinner and have had an amazing experience both times! Service, quality of food and prices will keep me going back and I am the pickiest of diners! My new favorite!

Wow!!! Super good food & great service. The place was empty at 1:45pm which is unfortunate for any one that likes Mediterranean food! Great pricing for a lot of food. Very impressive… If you’re into the food and in the area I would strongly recommend Chez Ali

As a vegetarian with food allergies, mediterranean food is my go-to. We are new to the area and found this restaurant on Unilocal. In my experience the more unassuming the strip mall, the better the food– that was definitely the case here. Everything was delicious and I was pleased to see they offer free delivery for orders over $ 15 within 3 miles. I live less than 3 miles away and I can easily spend $ 15! The owner served us and he was very nice, he said this is a new, second location and they are trying to get the word out. I will be back for sure!

The letters on the door say closed on Sunday, but there are two lit signs that will say Open! Great chicken shawarma, best falafels, and surprisingly enough for me — the gyro meat was amazing. I am not a fan of lamb, but this I will have any day! I think the location just changed names. I recommended going here for a great Mediterranean meal.

I’m reviewing this place after only one visit because we really enjoyed our meal, but on a random Wednesday night at prime dinner hour we were the only people in the restaurant! With all the good Middle Eastern and Mediterranean food clustered on this four-block stretch of Colorado Boulevard, it can be very hard to decide which place to try. Hint: they’re all very good. Your favorite is just a matter of personal preference, but you can’t go wrong with any of them. This is a fairly new place, though it was still the same type of food in previous restaurants at this location, so I was curious to see if the food was any different. While the menu looked very much the same, we sampled a fair number of items. Each one was quite good, and I’d recommend the shrimp appetizer even though it’s not very common of the cuisine. The combo platter is clearly the way to go, since you get a little bit of all the typical favorites. Meats were well-prepared and spiced, and the hummus was quite tasty as well. Pita was a little crunchy and not as thick as at most places. I thought the service could have been a bit more attentive given that we were their only customers at that time, but maybe that’s because they wanted to leave us to ourselves and not be overbearing, which is fine. I really hope they get more business here, so I’m doing my part to encourage you to make it happen.

I was oh-so-excited that there was finally mediterranean I could order for delivery. Then I hit the order button and… it says Mecca Grill. Which is on Downing. Which I have ordered in the past and had one of the worst delivery experiences ever. Which means it’s probably the same owners(Damascus, I’m looking at you too). What a let down…

We found a good place with good people on a day when we needed it. On the way home from saying goodbye to a friend, we realized wet hadn’t eaten since the lunch the previous day. We passed chain place after chain place, and we’re about to just jog over to the highway and go home when we saw the white and red sign inviting us to Chez Ali. The man who took care of us was confident and nice without being overbearing, and hit the perfect pace — quick and available but never rushed. And the food was magnificent. The chicken was done just right, beautifully spiced, and served with a hummus that made us decide to order more to take home. It isn’t a swanky night out by any stretch. It is, however, really good food, priced right, and served with just the right level of eagerness and attention. I will go miles out of my way to eat here again.

I’ve eaten a lot of Mediterranean food my entire life, from restaurants to food trucks to friend’s parents home cooked meals. It’s one of my favorite cuisines. This place is by far the best I’ve ever had, ever. The grape leaves were the best The baba ganoush was the best The gyro was the best(the lamb is fantastic!) The baklava and kanafa were the best I just wish this place was closer to my home! Chez Ali is a new favorite!
