Wonderful find in an otherwise drab airport. Wish i could have one of these in my house altho i wonder what happens when the plants get a lot bigger. It does get a bit hot around the light lamps

Awesome out of the way place. In the craziness of ORD to have such a quiet out of the way garden is awesome. Well worth a visit if you’re killing time during a connection.

What I nice place to sit, away from the crowds, and relax. Perfect for when you prefer to plane watch instead of people watch

quiet place upstair of the busy ord terminal to relax. it’s basically a display featuring a garden and highlighting some interesting sustainability practices. great to take a conference call or just relax for a bit. lacks ample power outlets which can be a bonus as you don’t have a ton of folks mesmerised by their laptops. I found some free wifi spots but couldn’t get them to work with my typewriter.

Well… the Urban Garden is a nice find. It is, at least, VERY quiet, but that’s pretty easy compared to most of O’Hare, right? The«lounge» is a bunch of old, kind of worn green pleather chairs that surround the garden. It’s a bit hot owing to the grow lights around the garden and the location up above the concourse. And no sign of a café… must have been removed? Anyway, if you are looking for a quiet place to get away from super loud O’Hare, it’s worth finding. Just go up the steps from the rotunda of Concourse G near the Cubs Bar & Grill and the halal restaurant. Seems to be a popular hangout with the flight crews — lots of crashed out pilots and flight attendants catching short naps…

Great Yoga room for a nice stretch. Best relaxing spot in all the airport is at the Urban Garden!

Ok first things first it is a cool spot, a vertical garden with a yoga room next to it. But unless I missed something there is no café upstairs there is only a food kiosk below, but nothing to write home about unless you love chex mix and diet coke, I was expecting a cooked meal or at least a server that brings me my food. The one review about all the sleeping flight crew was correct, there were plenty of pilots and flight attendants sleeping in the area, so if you want to see some greenery and maybe take down an airline employee then come here if not stick to Torta Frontera.

I stopped by the Urban Garden after reading about it recently. I heard it fed 10k travelers a year with the organic herbs and veggies that are grown here. What a cool concept!!! I ordered a Mediterranean Greek salad for my flight. Mmmm! Surrounding the garden are a bunch of comfy chairs next to tables, making any miserable wait to board not so miserable. This place is a hidden gem in O’Hare!!!

As expected, this quiet little secret in ORD has become a free crash-pad for pilots and flight attendants. Sleeping flight crew are strewn around hogging multiple chairs to make a bed, too cheap, or poor — probably the latter, to get a room. As advertised, there are a few plants here too. With really bright power sucking lights, there’s nothing green about this operation. The amount of energy used for a few hardly healthy looking thyme and basil plants is hardly worth this place’s existence. You can hear the high voltage lights buzzing louder than the snoring American Airlines pilot next to you. The only reason to come up here is if you’re desperate to see Arugula, or to find the disheveled old man flying you to Frankfurt tonight, which unless you’re crazy, is never.

Coolest place in o’hare. This is a nice quiet lounge away from the craziness that is o’hare. It is a little zen garden away from Chicagoans. A personal note this is the airport that forced me to buy an admirals club membership, either that or go on a berserker rampage killing a dozen or more Chicago *}#%*. But I digress. I have come here a few times as an oasis for relaxation. This time I came during hours where one of the airport bars delivers their menu items. This is VERY cool. Unfortunately, I did not get the time that this was offered, but it is during thr week and late afternoons to early evenings. The menu is sports bar like, but they did have hummus and mushroom paninni that really hit the spot. I will definitely return here!

Stumble across this café as well. Terrific atmosphere. Comfortable chairs, sunny, surrounding hydroponic garden. Am I really in Ohare airport? Nice wine selection and a full menu. Having the prosciutto and melon, yum!

Great little quiet spot. I had 2⁄3 hours to kill and I had passed by it when we were leaving. I headed upstairs, as many mentioned, it is like being in a nice quiet lounge. The wait staff was super nice and not pushy, wine options were decent, as was the food. There are a few power ports to plug into. All the benefits of a Airline club with no fee!

Fearing rush hour traffic, I left my hotel way early to get to the airport. But the shuttle driver was a magician and I ended up at O’Hare super early. In the rotunda, I spotted the signs for the Urban garden… food? wine? Sure! So I went upstairs and found the garden. The grow lights made the area warm and also may have given me retinal damage they are so bright. But café? I looked around… there are lots of doors, all locked. There were some temporary walls that had LOTS of information about hydroponic gardening, but no food, no wine, no café. And away I wandered.

In Terminal 2, Concourse G(and up some stairs to the 2nd level), there is a small café surrounding what is billed as the ‘World’s first vertical aeroponic garden inside an airport terminal’. On my way to catch a connection, and with a little time to kill, I stumbled upon this spot. It was like entering another world. Quiet, peaceful, and beautiful, with tables circling the garden and big windows providing lots of sunlight and a great view of the airplanes and runways. Take a look at the place here: I wasn’t hungry, but it was such a wonderful spot that I didn’t want to leave, so I sat down in one of the comfortable chairs and ordered hot tea. In addition to tea, they serve wine and beer and a small menu with sandwiches and salads I think. The placed is called Urban Garden, but my receipt says ‘Efiescanteen’. A call to the number on the receipt got me to another O’Hare restaurant. The person on the phone noted that ‘Urban Garden’ is owned by the ‘Efiescanteen’ group, and that this café is indeed called ‘Urban Garden’. The person on the phone noted that he thought it was OK to just sit in the area and not order, but that ordering was encouraged. The person on the phone noted that it had opened a few months ago. When I was there, ordering did indeed seem optional, but there wasn’t a lot of people there and I wanted to support the waitress and place, so I did order something. Information on the walls notes that the herbs and vegetables grown there are provided to O’Hare restaurants. In my opinion, the #1 place to hang out in O’Hare.
