This place is just NO. The quality is not that great and the servers were really snobby– the girls– for no reason! Food was mediocre but for that price… Nope nope will never come back.

I love this place. People are nice. I like their lunch special and happy hour. Roll are big. Albacore Delxus, yellow tail yuzu roll and so on are recommended.

Never Going Back. Wish I could give«no star.» Even though I wrote«Allergy» in big letters at the top of the order and wrote«no chili oil or jalapeño» I was served it not just once but twice. When they brought back the order«clean» it had Sirracha. Really?! That’s made from chili peppers. The best was the endless, relentless and ridiculous arguing by the waitress, Peg. She had the audacity to tell us how lucky we were that she wasn’t go to charge us for the uneaten items from the lunch special. Yeh, sorry I couldn’t eat more as my throat was closing from the allergic reaction! Horrific service and in my opinion substandard fish covered in sauces, spices and distractions.

Bad service Went there for dinner as I live in the area, food took forever when we asked for them to just check on the chicken as it had been 45 minutes the manager shrugged his shoulders and said its not ready or on the counter, nothing I can do. He continued to be rude and basically was serving us slowly so we paid for all you can eat but didn’t eat much because it took an hour to get half of what we ordered and we were there before all other customers. He handled the situation horribly instead of just saying sure I will check on it which would have satisfied us! Get a new manager! You will be as busy as shibuya around the corner!

Excellent all-you-can-eat lunch. Fresh fish and great miso. Awesome staff and management. Yesterday, I witnessed a disgraceful family of 7 or 8 who took advantage of this restaurant. They failed to follow the rules of the all-you-can-eat special. They became irate, and killed our quiet time. They then threatened to call Amex and get a full refund for the meal. If Amex gets involved, I hope Banzai’s management refers them to this review, because those customers were outright wrong, and I hope I don’t run into this family again, at any restaurant. BTW we got great value out of the ayce menu … paid $ 22.95 and ate about $ 40 worth of food. And then, needed a nap.

SERVICE is bad. FOOD mediocre, they’re lunch special is a SCAM! They advertise all you can eat for $ 23. I didn’t finish my salad so they decided to charge me an extra six dollars!(They call this, «leftovers»). Then my friend chose not to eat the rice of her sushi. She left it on the plate and they charged(punished) her $ 5 for not ordering sashimi instead! They call that, «leftovers». Basically their all you can eat buffet is costing them customers.

The sushi here is BOMB! You have to try the Manhattan Roll and yellow tail sashimi appetizer. The service is good and the food came out fast. Ask for Jay. He’s the man at Banzai!

I have lived in the area for several years now and finally tried this place out. I only had one baked roll but the roll I had was pretty good. It was the baked salmon roll. I will go back with my boyfriend so he can try out the all you can eat that I hear is excellent. I really like the location. It is tucked away and private. Easy parking + valet. I want to go back to try some of their cocktails as well. very pleased with this place.

THEWORSTSERVICEEVER. I used to come here 6 or 7 years ago and it was absolutely wonderful everything. Tonight — here’s what went down: Arrived. There was a wait. Obviously it’s Saturday night totally fine my boyfriend and I wait patiently. 20 minutes later the host«walks» us to our table simply by dropping 2 menus off 4 feet ahead of us and walking to another table to take their order… We’re left standing like uh? Do we sit here? We assume it’s our table and sit down. Another ten minutes goes by they bring us hot towels and do not even take our drink order. As we browse the menu another 20 minutes goes by. Still no service. Mind you– there were like 6 empty tables so it’s not like it was jam packed EFFTHISPLACE. SUSHINISHIOFFLOSTHILLSFOREVER

Super disappointed. I’ve been coming here for 15 years and the quality has just gone way way down. The all you can eat seems like a good idea but the rules and restrictions are ridiculous. If you leave ONEPEICE of anything you order they will charge for the item full price ONTOPOF22.50 your already paying. You CANNOT take leftovers home, or share unless the other person pays 22.50 which I suppose is reasonable. The waitress was rude and eavesdropping on our conversations. We got a roll that has mayo and pepper and other things not listed in what we ordered. It was soooo gross and she wouldn’t take it back because«we should have read the menu». It made us nervous and unable to enjoy our meal. With all the amazing sushi places this is not one you need to try. 2⁄10 would never recommend. Sadly, I wish I could. But after 15 years they are losing a former fan

Really more of a 1.5 star place in all honesty. There are 2MUCH better sushi spots in Calabasas… Shibuya and Nishi. Both places offer much better tasting rolls, better prepared(cut) pieces of sushi, and far superior service. As many have said, the service leaves a lot to be desired. It was slow and the wait staff seemed genuinely disinterested in being employed. The food was«ok». If you are in the area and want sushi… head to the other spots mentioned above.

This was my first time going to this Japanese sushi restaurant and I have to say that the fish is fresh and delicious. As you can see in all the pictures that I have taken how phenomenal all the food looks. The reason I gave this restaurant three stars was because of the service. Since this was the first time I have come to this restaurant I didn’t know about any of the rules that they had on the all-you-can-eat menu. At the end of my meal I left three small pieces of one roll left uneaten and the waiter comes over to me hands me my check and says, «next time I’m going to have to charge you for leftovers». I told him that it’s only three pieces not the entire thing and he made me feel uncomfortable because he said it very loudly. Just on the customer service on its own, I will not be returning to this restaurant!

Ok, so my husband and I regulars here. Love coming here and sitting out on the patio. Unfortunately tonight will be the last time we come. Its Tuesday, 8pm, the place is dead, got seated right away. Ordered an appatizer and some sake. Appatizer came out and we had to ask two different people for plates and wasabi/ginger. As we went to order our entrees, my husband specifically asked if it could come out staggered, ya know so we don’t get 4 rolls all at once. But, nope, he didn’t listen again, here comes all our food, getting warm. Not once did he come by to ask how we were, if we needed anything, dessert? Nothing. The only time we saw him was when he ran around doing his side work trying to leave early I guess? Like he had a date or something. Whatever, ruined our dinner. I don’t like being rushed. «Heres your shit, hurry up and eat so I can get the hell outta here» His name tag said Peter, but our receipt says Vongkullusn. Food was good, service really killed it. There are too many good sushi places in the area to deal with bad service. 1 star.

The best sushi place in town, the owner is very friendly and hospitable, the sushi chefs are wonderful, just look for Frank, and yoshi they’re the best. I love this place a lot and highly recommended. Try their albacore sushi to die for. Yummy.

We live local and used to eat here more often, it used to be great. We have recently been here a few times, and each time we go the sushi seems to get a little more generic tasting. The best roll they have is the Bora Bora roll but everything else just tastes the same. Plus, with the attitude of the older sushi chef at the bar, we won’t be coming back. He just seemed miserable. Plus they edit prices for any changes. For example, no rice please or can you roll in cucumber instead of rice. He seemed to be adding 1.50 to 2.50 per roll for this change. Which to me seemed excessive considering no other sushi bar we eat at does this. For the location they are at and the nice outside seating they have, they should be much busier. I am to think others in the neighborhood are noticing the changes too.

Food: AYCE was good a month ago, now they just got cheap with their offerings. They used to have blue crab hand rolls on the list, not anymore. Their nigiri used to have decent cuts, now they’re so thin its a see-through piece of fish on a slab of rice. Service: It’s ok, the staff are nice but the food took forever. After the first round it took 20 minutes for anyone to come around asking for our next request.

This place is OK! Nothing spectacular. Parking is a bitch, especially for dinner, be prepared to have to pay for valet or park a million miles down Calabasas Road and walk. The small cul de sac of parking alongside the restaurant is always completely full. Food is all-right, the prices are a little higher than most places, for food that is not that great. I’ve tried their Lobster Roll, Shrimp Tempura, Spicy Tuna, as well as crab, shrimp and eel sushi, and was not blown away. My friend and I spent over $ 75 and ended up leaving more than half. There are so many other great sushi places in the area. I will not be returning.

Banzai has kind of got it all for a sushi joint… The space is massive… they have a long, «L» shaped sushi bar for those of us who like to cozy up to the chefs, there’s a large dining room for families and a large patio where you can enjoy the endless sunny, 65 degree L.A. weather while you dine on great food. Their menu is also massive. In addition to sushi, they also have an extensive selection of oysters. Another distinctive feature of a good sushi restaurant is the ability to order hamachi kama(yellowtail collar — section just behind the head and gills) off the menu. If it’s off the menu, it means they may or may not have it depending on whether it’s fresh or not. If it’s on the menu… beware. It’s one of the best parts of the fish… it’s cooked on the bone so it’s scrumptious. Traditionally it’s reserved for the best patrons of the restaurant or friends/family of the owner(not so much any more). They also serve REAL red snapper and they always have it… most sushi bars just don’t have red snapper and if they say they do, it typically isn’t really red snapper. Banzai always has it. Their special sushi is always fresh and well made… and consistent. I really like their hamachi which comes with a light ponzu sauce, topped with a jalpeno pepper. Their black snapper, wild salmon and Spanish mackerel are also tasty specials. They have more rolls than you can imagine. I’m not a big roll eater, but my daughter has tried several of them and they’re all good. It’s always a friendly welcoming atmosphere and unlike what some of the other reviews say, I’ve never had slow service.
