Idea looked good but place was filthy. Had the Cajun chicken bowl and had stomach cramps Gas and diarrhea within 15 minutes of eating. If u want a bowel cleaner, go here. Should change the name to Boulder Bowel Cleaner. Also some strange homeless looking character walking back and forth there while we ate. Not sure what that was all about. It’s basically a $ 9 bowl of rice and beans with some tiny scraps of some meat and veggies with a pile of runny greasy gravy dumped on it.

We came kind of late at night, but there was no one eating in the restaurant which was kind of unnerving. The food was just ok, nothing stood out about it. Expected better due to the positive reviews.

I used to go to the Boulder Bowls — the lunch cart, on the Pearl Street Pedestrian Mall — almost every day for lunch at work. Most of their curries were too spicy for my taste, so I’d usually opt for the Chicken Cocoanut Curry, which isn’t too hot. However, since it first opened, I find now that I go there rarely. Why? Well, I’m reminded every time I wonder why I stopped — and(regretfully) give it another try. For seven dollars-and-a-half(for the medium, «Healthy» sized portion) it seems these days there’s hardly *any* chicken in the chicken curry. Like 2 or 3 tiny pieces. Hrmmpf! Come on guys! This used to be a good lunch deal! Now it’s a bowl of beans and rice that cost about 50-cents for… a Pearl Street sized overcharge of $ 7.50 or more. Sigh…

I have time and time again enjoyed getting meals from Boulder Bowls. Although the menu itself is not very extensive, therefore maybe not appealing to those without a pallette for good tasting, healthy, homestyle food, there are a handful of grand slams served up. Each dish includes a choice of rice and beans, and the entrée is whatever the toppings are. My favorite, from day one, has been the Cajun Sausage. It is the best on the menu in my humble opinion. Close second is the Cowboy Beef & Beans. Both are hearty, filling dishes that are sure to please even the most picky of eaters. All the toppings are pre-made, so there’s not much room for order customization. However, I believe the dish recipes were well thought out, and rightfully earned their spots on the steam table. The reason for only four stars is purely due to the size of the menu. I would love to see some new additions to it, along with encouragement to add personal touches to each order… someway, somehow. Be sure to check this place out, it is well worth the cost, and definitely a taste of mom’s cooking. It’s exactly what students need when they’re away from home.

Very friendly staff, pleasant music not too loud, 3 vegan meals I tried, all a good value: lentils with carrots and spinach, vegetable Thai coconut curry, and Cuban black beans, the black beans being the heartiest of the 3. Got white rice with all, nicely cooked. Husband got the Thai coconut curry chicken with brown rice and liked it but said he’d get the spicy jerk chicken if he could re-order. They let us taste everything in advance!!! We really appreciate that!

Boulder Bowls is a gem! My friends and I stumbled upon this place last night, late night after a show at The Fox. The beauty of this place lies in its simplicity — there are only a handful of menu items, but you can mix and match and order bowls in three different sizes depending on how hungry you are. They make everything from scratch, and it’s delicious, healthy, and nourishing. You really can’t go wrong here!

We were visiting from Atlanta. After three days of eating out, I was in no mood for a restaurant. I wanted something simple, hot and fresh without forking a hefty tab. We found this cute little cart in the middle of pearl street. The choices were simple and the food we got matched the pictures on the cart. We had the coconut chicken bowl and veggie bowl. After our trip, I had to remind my boyfriend how yummy that chicken tasted.

So from my first impressions Boulder Bowls didn’t look like much more than a less sophisticated noodles and company. However, once I made my way further in the restaurant I noticed the upstairs loft area, which apparently was just finished last month. It has natural lighting from a large sky light, comfy seating, large flat screen TV for public use, and even a desktop computer for your study or leisure needs. I ordered a medium sized bowl of mixed veggies, rice, and beans with a coconut curry sauce. It was good not great. The bowl was both filling and satisfying but not mind blowing. Very affordable it was worth the $ 6 I paid for it. Overall, I would recommend Boulder Bowls to anyone looking to study or hang out with a group in the cool atmosphere in the lounge upstairs. The food is reasonably priced and seems relatively healthy compared to other options in the area.

What a great late night treat! Healthy, delicious and excellent service! Went in on a Monday and tried the spicy Jerk chicken and all I can say is FANTASTIC! Excellent natural spices full of flavor. Kevin, the guy who takes your order is really helpful and just an all around gentlemen. He was really helpful and insightful. If you’re looking for a healthy FLAVORFUL choice on the late night in Boulder this is your spot! OHYEAH and they have plantains!!!

It was snowing when we visited the university. The restaurant was inviting, and the food was superb — warm and filling. Wish there was one in NY!

Boulder bowls is the best food cart on Pearl Street hands-down. I’ve been coming here for a few years now on my lunch break. My favorite is the cajun red beans and sausage. In the summer they have an awesome homemade mango lemonade. I work on Pearl Street and it’s super fast and convenient.

Boulder bowls is awesome, they have vegetarian items. The coconut curry chicken and cowboy beef bowls are what’s up. It’s also reasonably priced at $ 7 for a medium sized bowl.
