Boulder Body Wear

I had a very good experience getting ballet shoes fitted. Salesperson brought out two pair to try first and then another few pairs to make sure I had what I wanted. I bought a pair of Bloch split sole canvas slippers and was given a discount for being a student at Colorado Conservatory. The clothes looked very cute but I didn’t buy any today. Service was great.

I came in looking for salsa shoes. The attendant (I think her first name started with a K) was really rude. She first asked me if I’ve ever walked in heels and then showed me a few low heel pairs. I didn’t said I didn’t like them and she seemed to get offended and asked if I could be more descriptive about my style. I said, simple, black, not sparkly, and she showed me another pair and I still didn’t like it. She then still continued to berate me for not describing exactly what style I would like. I’ve never bought salsa shoes before, and I’m not a fashion student so… I didn’t really know how else to describe! All she could have done was walk me around to see the options. I found a cute pair and got a nice discount for taking classes at Avalon, but I was so close to walking out. After I decided to get the shoes, she completely ignored me, didn’t say thank you for coming in, nothing. The other person working there was friendly, but overall the store really needs to work on their customer service.

I wish there was a negative star I could give! No one will believe what we experienced at this store. I took my three daughters there to shop for tap shoes and the female employees assisted us in our selection by bringing out the sizes we asked for, not having the size for one of my daughters. My girls tried on one pair each, the employee brought out only three pair. Anyway while in the store, my daughter got on line and observed the same exact shoe (brand and style) for $ 40.00 cheaper. She mentioned it out loud and the employee said «oh I should tell you if you do not purchase the shoes I will have to charge you ten dollar sizing fee»
Of course there were no signs stating they had such a fee. I’ve never heard of such a thing in my shopping life. They made me pay! My husband later said I should have walked out because they could NOT make me pay. He is going to report them to the Boulder District Attorney.

I’ve been taking my daughter to BBW for many years now and this place is fabulous! I never encountered «moody staff» or anything like that. I have no idea what that person is talking about. We get excellent discounts because my daughter dances at a local studio. She absolutely loves the place. I always enjoy going to BBW — and I’m a guy!

My experience with this place has been fabulous to date. I had my first pointe shoe fitting back in Oct 2012 and was extremely pleased with the service I received. Each time I need a new pair I simply setup an appointment and they check to make sure the fitting my old pair is correct. I’ve now ordered 3 pairs of shoes from them and will continue to order from them in the future. It nice to have access to a ballet shop that can meet my needs.

They have a really cute selection, I’ll give you that.
But the staff seems rather moody. Sometimes they are nice, but sometimes they seem standoffish. I don’t know, it’s a mystery!
They clothing is cute, and the selection of toddler/​young child dance attire is a real treat. I will probably keep going because of that… and because they send out coupons in the mail.
I find a lot of stores in the Boulder area have trouble with moody staff. Go figure.
Also, they don’t let you use their bathroom. You have to trudge over to the Boulder Marriot. If you ask me, a store that has a nice changing area to try on all their clothes should also have a place to pee if you need to for pete’s sake!

Don’t ever order online from this place. They don’t accept returns and are a total rip off on shipping and when you exchange something for another item of a lesser value that amount isn’t credited to your shipping charges. They suck!

So what if I love spandex? I love wearing tight spandex whenever I can because it keeps things tucked in and pulled up… aka, my tushi ends up looking better and nobody ever copies my style.
Boulder Body Wear is a little hidden, but a little hidden gem at that… From ballet shoes to tap shoes, and even a little fake ballet bar and mirror with a wood floor to really test out the dance shoes you try on.
The best thing about the store is the cute selection of street clothes. Every time I go in the store or bring anybody in with me, we are always impressed with the clothing selection… Whoever is doing the buying is doing a great job because there are cute and eccentric tops, bottoms, and skirts… Similar to maybe what you might see in an Anthropology /​Speedo store… (Hey, to some, that is one hot sexy hippie.)
The store is stuffed with frilly little dance key chains, sports bras, dance shoes, yoga gear and attire, dance and workout gear and somehow I am remembering bathing suits… You can also pick up taps for your tap shoes, and ballet slipper hair pins… You know, cheesy things along that line! Rock on… So, really this is a store for all ages, but luckily the cute street clothes are placed right at the front so, pull into the free parking and sashe your way into 10 minutes of quick painless shopping…

***Arabasque star three is for a pretend dance floor, so that I can pretend that I am so good and dance that I can start jamming right there and then… What? I’m not that bad at break-​dancing
**** Sun Salutation star four is for supplying clothes that make you want to embrace the arts and rock out… go leotards go!
Dogma star five was lost to somewhat off and on staff… I can’t really tell what kind of mood they are in… But it certainly does not keep me away!
