Stopped in to buy an advertised special. The store had none of that product. I was told they’d been out for several days. Worst thing was nobody seemed to care. Went across the road to Twins bought 2 of the product I wanted for the same price as the advertised Spec’s special. I’m a Twins guy from now on.

Visited this location several times, the beer guy is always nice and very considerite. Sadly the cashier staff I’ve dealt with were rude, extremely immature and unprofessional. My partner and I were laughed at by the boy behind the counter, quite uncalled for. Going to take my business to well ran establishment in the future.

It’s not the smallest Specs, but not the largest either. Great selection of liquor, beer, and wine. Some food items; crackers, hot sauces, cheeses, and frozen goods, but no deli. Friendly and helpful staff. Parking is a breeze. TIP: If you pay with ash or debit you get a small discount.

So my long-held, dirty secret is that I don’t drink that much. Wait, take that back; I don’t drink that often. Because of this, I don’t have the need to frequent Spec’s…pretty much ever. But because all of my upper middle class, pseudo intellectual friends are Scotch drinkers, and every.damn.one of them has a birthday in March, off to Specs I went! The foot print of this store is much smaller than the rest, though fortunately for me they have dedicated a disproportionate amount of the store to beer. YAY! I lean pretty heavily on the specs employee’s recommendations. Partially because they know their stuff, and partially because it’s really easy to say«I like brand X, what do you have that is similar?» Well the beer guy(Adrian? Big fella, 6’3″ or 6’4″ at least), went out, came back, and thrust a very limited edition beer in my hand. «You want this.» Now I don’t know if this guy is now my best friend, or the best salesman in the world, but he went on to describe the rarity of this beer, the fanatical following of this beer, the pure, undistilled, goddamn awesomeness of this beer. «I only want to sell this beer to people like you who can really appreciate it.» Well, shit. How can I say no? I’ll buy the $ 15/bottle of beer. And you know what? He was right. And you know what else? I left that store feeling very special. Thanks specs! Thanks beer dude! P. S. also got some righteous Scotch for my friends. hurray!

Bee Caves Specs is much bigger than our little 620 location, but nowhere near the size of the Hwy 35 location South of town. They have a great selection of liquor, an ok selection of food(though no finer than the HEB on 620), and a good selection of wine and beer. They also have a killer selection of bar accessories. Staff is helpful, and took the time to look for something they didn’t have. Prices are pretty good, especially if you pay with cash(and that includes debit cards), which gets you a discount. Also, they have a key fob that can get you discounts if you’re willing to brand your keychain and carry a Specs tracking device on you.

I want to give Specs a 5 star review for being community minded today. My son has to build a life sized anaconda for school and decided that he wants to use those stretchy mesh wine bottle covers to show the snake’s scales. Though we felt silly, my husband called Specs and they were happy to give us a big handful of the wraps for my son’s project. Very friendly about it. I guess liquor stores probably don’t get a chance to support school aged kids all that much, but we thought they were great to us today. Thanks Specs! We’ll be back for actual liquor or wine next time!

I’ve just always had less than stellar experiences here, including buying cheese once only to return home to discover it had expired over a month before. Ew! I’m going to be upfront and admit I’m a Twin Liquors fan, but I had a Specs gift card and decided to use it. With a special bday coming up, I decided to splurge and get a bottle of my all time favorite, Dom Perignon. I looked in the Champagne section, nada. Looked in the cooler, nada. Asked the guy up front and he merely shrugged, pointed in an ambiguous area off to the side and off I went. Nothing but expensive Scotches. No bubbly for me :-( Annoyed by now because I also find their selection of pinot noir rather lacking in comparison to my Twins, I proceeded to checkout with a bottle of wine I had to settle on since they don’t carry my beloved Firesteed regular label. The same dude was our checkout. The hubby mentioned, «What a pity we couldn’t find the Dom». The dude looked at us then merely said, «Ok, will that be it then? Cash or charge?» Really? Well ok then, I feel better about going and buying it from my locally owned store anyway. Plus the Specs television commercials have got to be some of the dorkiest ads ever. Who writes those ridiculous things?

Where else can you find a display case full of «hard to find» Haribo Sour Gummi Candies while shopping for an expensive bottle of Tequila? Spec’s! They go great together BTW:) Upon entering this Spec’s you will find bulk coffee bends, an olive bar, a sub-par selection of cheeses and a frozen case that includes Truffle Oil Pizza. The next aisle over starts with red wines which I am sure has some rhyme or rhythm but it was lost on me. Which lead me to inquire if they carried my FAVORITE very hard to find Cab. Dude who helped me got on the computer in the wine section looked it up and told me the only Spec’s who sold it had 11 cases at their Corpus Christi store«you could take a road trip and drink your wine on the beach». Nice thought but I was wanting to stock up since it is so hard to find so he suggested ordering it from specs on-line and said the shipping was only 5.00 per case since it ships from Houston. Sweet! Great Prices plus the 5% discount if you pay in cash and funny helpful employees! Yep I will be back for my adult beverage needs!

I’ve been a long time fan of Specs. They have a fantastic selection of wine and beer, which just happen to be two of my favorite beverages. But now I know they also truly care about customer service. I ordered a keg of Live Oak for a party, but alas the tap had a leak which slowed down the beer pouring process a bit. When I returned the keg equipment I explained the problem we had with the tap, so they wouldn’t give that tap to someone else, and the store manager went above and beyond to make sure I would remain a satisfied customer. Specs will always earn an A+ in my wine journal.
